As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: When did you "know"?
When DH and I first met we didn't really hit it off. But the more we saw each other, the more we got along. Then he kind of started dating a friend of mine and one night my friend was telling me how nice he was but that he totally wasn't her type and she thought he was more my type. So she basically told him to ask me out and that was it for me. That was a year or so after we'd first met. He was so sweet when he picked me up for our date. I knew within about a week of that first date that he was the one for me.

Re: When did you "know"?
I knew after the first week of dating that I would marry him. Funny thing is, just this weekend, DH admitted that it was love at first sight on his end. He said that is why he proposed after just 6 weeks, he didn't want to lose me !

Re: When did you "know"?
DH and I went to the same JR High and did not like each other one bit. At the end of my freshman year of high school he moved into my town and we were friends for a little while, then started dating. We had a couple of little (short breakups) periods of time where we were apart, but I guess I knew he was the one after I graduated from college and I saw my life out in front of me and I couldn't picture it without him. We were together about 11 years before we got married!

Re: When did you "know"?
Jason and I had been talking on the phone and online for a while (we'd met through a mutual friend that he grew up with and who was in my sorority), but we didn't have our first date until about a month later...in fact, we'd never met face to face until that night!
We'd planned to drive two hours to my hometown to go to the big high school game (Texas vs. Arkansas), but about 10 miles into our trip, we had a complication...in that HE CAN'T DRIVE!!! That or he was so overwhelmed by my charm and beauty that he just lost all sense of anything...
Well, I'd mentioned that I'd meant to get some Gatorade before he came b/c I'd been in majorette practice all afternoon. So, at Gurdon, Arkansas, exit 63, he says "You want to stop and get some Gatorade?" "Sure." So, he whips across the other lane of traffic and tries to take the exit, not realizing that it's one of those U-turn exits. He can't turn and he can't stop. We plow through the sign that should have told him that he needed to slow down for a turn, then go down into one ditch, over the access road, into another ditch and onto another road, stopping right before we hit the trees. As soon as the truck stopped, I thought "I'm going to marry him." Why in the world that popped into my head is beyond me.
Two weeks later we broke up b/c he wouldn't toughen up with his psycho ex-gal. Two months after that, we got back together (after he changed his number, locks and church), and a month after THAT, we were engaged. Sigh.

Re: When did you "know"?
I love the "shouldn't we go on a date first" story of Amy's and CHERYL...my husband does that too! If I'm crying, he wipes the tears from my face and puts them on his!

Re: When did you "know"?
These stories are wonderful!! I especially love the "shouldn't we go on a first date?" story. Classic!
As for myself, after dating many a man, I'm pretty sure I've got the one now. I knew when he turned to me one day and said, "how did I get so lucky to have you in my life?" No man has ever said that to me--not ever! I was totally smitten by him! Also, I always worry that my boyfriends are going to loose their hair, and that I won't love them anymore for some reason. My DB is already bald (sort of an Andre Aggassi look). Problem solved!

Re: When did you "know"?
My DH and I met young (13), but for him he knew he would marry me some day. It took me more convincing really, but I thought he was the sweetest and a gentleman. We lived 2 states apart and had met during the summer, so to keep in touch we wrote back and forth. He'd write poems and send sweet gifts.( those stopped sometime after we married ). Anyhow, he won me over only to dump me a year later for a older girl( He had just started driving, you know guys). After that he enlisted in the Army, we still wrote back and forth. Eventually we realized that what we had was special and didn't want to lose it. After numerous 8hr drives to Fort Bragg and the Gulf War we got engaged. He's still that amazing, sweet guy who makes my heart flutter when I see him enter a room.

Re: When did you "know"?
I'm another fairly right away person. I didn't really know when we first met, but then Bryan started coming over for dinners. (We were in college and were too cheap to eat out... And weren't exactly dating at that point.) I knew there was something special about him when I looked forward to Thursdays so much... Then expanded it to Tuesdays too... Then Wednesdays... Then Fridays... Until we were seeing each other every single day! We started officially dating in early November and when I was home for Thanksgiving, I told my parents I was going to marry him. 2 years and seven months later, I did!
