Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Great start! You can always use an extra day in the World.
Sounded like an easy trip down other than all the deer.

Tuesday 9-13
Today we got up around 7:30 and had a quick breakfast in the room before heading to the Magic Kingdom. The line for the bus was short and we didn’t have to wait long. The weather was warm and mild with no rain.

When we got to the front of the park we were disappointed to see the entrance tunnel was being worked on so it was covered by tarps .

As soon as we got inside Nathan realized he forgot to put medicine on his face so he and Mark left and went back to the room. Why did he need medicine on his face? Well, on the car ride down I noticed that he had a thin red scratch on his face that went across his forehead down his nose. We have 3 dogs, 4 cats, and one lizard and he is always playing in the woods with boys from our neighborhood so although I hate to see it on his face (especially after I pre-paid $100.00 for a Photo Pass that I plan to use the heck out of it) it’s not unusual. But by last night the scratch had gotten 4 times as wide and was red and runny. At first I thought it might be a MRSA infection. I’m a little gun shy because Brett had one on his arm last year from a Brown Recluse Spider bite. It landed him in the hospital for a few days and then for a week after that he had to go to the Doctor everyday for painful treatments to drain it. I soon realized that with the ooze being clear we were only dealing with Poison Ivy. While not as scary as Staff it was still a big concern because all of our boys are very allergic to it and usually when they get it they get it bad. This time it didn’t spread and he only had the one scratch on his face (Thank You, Lord).

Here’s a picture from another day that shows what it looked like. Gotta love those Turkey Legs!

While we waited for Mark and Nathan to get back, Brett and I walked over and got a dole whip from Aloha Isle in Adventureland. (I handed it to him to hold while I got my camera out to take a picture for you guys but when I turned around he had taken a big bite off the top. Sorry, but don‘t worry I got another one the next time and I‘ll show you that pic when we get to it).

The Swiss Family Tree House was closed for refurb so we passed it and went instead to ride Jungle Cruise.
We got in line and waited but not for long because there were only about 15 people in front of us. We had a great jungle guide. I thought it might be because it was early and we were one of her first tours. It sure made a difference.

We left there and went around the corner to The Pirates of the Caribbean. We stopped outside and watched the show with Capt Jack. It was a cute show but mostly for kids.

Right inside the entrance Goofy was dressed as a pirate and signing autographs with only about 4 people in line. I wanted to stop but Brett just gave me his “no-way mom” look so I knew it wouldn‘t be a good picture and I didn‘t pursue it.

There wasn’t anyone in front of us in line going into the ride so we were able to walk through at our own pace and really look around. This is one of my all time favorites! Love It!

From there we walked over to Frontierland and went into the Prairie Outpost and Supply Company so that Brett could get a snack. Everybody stay away from this store, it is a proven fact that you will gain 2 lbs just from the smell of chocolate in here. Brett picked a double dipped chocolate and caramel Oreo cookie. It wasn’t on the snack list so it cost $6.00 but it was sooo worth it ! It was so rich we could only finish half of it.

Mark and Nathan met up with us here and all the boys went to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I haven’t ridden this ride since I was little and I didn’t want to now. Instead I went into the Briar Patch gift shop and sat in a rocking chair and sent a text to my oldest son to check on things at the house.
When they came out we all rode Splash Mountain. Again this was a first for me as I don’t remember ever riding it in the past. I’m just glad I didn’t get too wet.

We wanted to go to Tom Saywer’s Island next but everyone was getting hungry so we went instead to the Tortuga Tavern for lunch. Two of us choose Beef Burritos, (mine with no beans) and two of us had Beef Nachos. The toppings bar had a very good selection and was clean and well kept .

We were pleased to see that there were plenty of seats to choose from so we sat inside right by the open door so it would be cool. The food was delicious here. My only complaint is that to me the chocolate cake was dry and too bitter and the non-chocolate selections were limited. Nathan has a goal to not eat chocolate for one year and he has until December 31, 2011 to go. He has done so good I hated that they didn’t have more for him to choose from.
After lunch we all rode the jungle cruise.

Then we went to ride the Haunted Mansion. We took the line going through the new part even though it was longer because we hadn’t seen it yet. I was very impressed with the new additions.

We left there and went through FantasyLand to Tommorrowland. Nathan and I rode the People Mover while Mark and Brett rode Space Mountain because Nathan wasn’t ready to ride that one yet. If you take something cold to drink and maybe a snack this is a nice relaxing ride that gets you off your feet a bit.

When they came out of their ride we all went over to ride Buzz Lightyear‘s Space Ranger Spin. The line for this was a little long at 15 minutes but we didn’t mind waiting. I have all but gave up trying to beat them at this game. LOL

Our dinner ressie tonight was for 700 at Via Napoli so we decided to leave the park and head over to Epcot. We took a Monorail to the TTC and another one over to Epcot.

It didn’t take long but it was close to our reservation time when we got there so we walked straight to the restaurant.
The place was packed so it was very loud. They sat us at a table right by the pizza ovens which at first we thought was a good spot but soon realized that it was very HOT so we asked to be moved.

For dinner two of us had “Linquine Frutti di Mare” (shrimp, clams, mussels & squid tossed in marinara piccante) with “Gelato Frizzante” (ice cream soda made with San Pellegrins‘s Aranciata and vanilla gelato), and the other two had “Mezze Rigatoni alla Crema Con Pollo” (cream, chicken and peas) with “Tiramisu” and “Candele” (candle stick pasta, sausage ragu, polpettine meatballs, mozzarella, ricotta) with “Zeppole di Caterina“ (ricotta cheese fritters served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce).
I have heard a lot about the pizza here and had planned to try it but I’m not disappointed that I didn't because all the food we ordered was very, very Good! I can’t wait to go back!
Here is a picture of Nathan with his Espresso. Not sure if that was a good idea or not.

At this point we had been out all day and we were very tired so we just went back to the room and showered.

Up next, is a park free day. Breakfast at O’Hana and then we can do whatever we want. I have big plans of renting a boat, or resort hopping or maybe going into town to the Disney outlet. We’ll see….

That is a pretty nasty scratchy! I can't blame you for being concerned, but so glad it was just poison ivy. I hiked out in the woods in late September of my freshman year in high school and came back with a small patch of poison ivy on my upper lip, probably from where I had touched it and then used my hand to wipe sweat off. Neither my Mom nor I realized it was that; we assumed acne. Before we knew it, it was all over my face. Bad memory! Great day at MK and dinner sounds wonderful at Via Napoli (it's a new favorite for my family).

Great TR! Love your dinner at Via Napoli, and I'm glad the scratch is "just" poison ivy. I wonder if you'll get to decide about tomorrow - I don't see the guys going shopping...

Sounded like a great day. I am hoping your photopass pics turned out okay. The scratch doesn't look too bad in some of your personal pics.
The food sounded delish too!
