As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I guess I won't by flying Spirit anytime soon! Just be thankful you weren't sitting next to anyone from the stinky family! Yes, I think now with ME you just go through the line if your paperwork is in order and bags are either tagged for ME pickup or with you.

What a cantankerous family on the plane! Glad you've made it on to DME and headed to the bubble. Unless you have a problem or do not have your DME documents, you no longer need to go to the desk.
Woo Hoo - Disney school!
Boo stinky family. Good for you making them wait their turn. I would have too, AND let everyone in the front rows out as I went!
I seem to get a bit queasy too on the plane if I read or something like it for too long. I get carsick really easy, but luckily have never thrown up on a plane.
It is amazing how people on a plane can't be courteous and unload row by row. I always make myself and my girls wait until everyone behind us is off, unless someone is nice enough to let us out. We are wanting to get to Disney, but it is not worth fighting inpatient people. And I agree about hygiene on an enclosed space, think about it people!!!
Can't wait for more.

Yay! Love the pictures of the airport monorail--when my kids were younger, they always counted that little monorail as their first (and last) "ride" of our Disney trips--who knows, they probably still do!
Great start, and I'm looking forward to more, please!
Ok, .....I think that way too. LOL!

I'm not a fan of Spirit, but for just me, it was OK. But as a family, I think it's too cramped and I'm sure Skip would've griped....well he did last time we flew them. LOL!
Thanks. I wasn't about to wait in the long desk line, when it appeared I didn't have to and no one told me different, so I just went with it.

It's so annoying. Why do they think they are better than everyone else. When you are in the back row, just expect to be the last off. It happens. LOL!

They were annoying, and luckily I didn't have to deal with them after that. With my luck they would be in the room next to me. But I never saw them after the bathroom.

I LOVE Disney school. Too bad I didn't have that in highschool, I might've been top of the class then.

Thanks! I'm moving a little slow right now (nice weather outside makes it hard to sit in front of the computer), but I'll get her done!

I get car sick too. For awhile it kind of got better, but over the years, it seems to bother me again. BUT I never had a problem on the Disney Dream with motion!
I take a small deoderant in my backpack with me so I can at least reapply when I feel gross.

I was so happy their wasn't any delays. But we have a cruise planned for next year (Most likely Nov at this point in time) and so far every cruise I have flown to has had a plane delay, we'll see if that still holds true. That is why we now fly down the day before. At least then we aren't rushing.

It was fun. I am hoping they offer a cruise one soon. Well actually they are having one on the Wonder in Oct, but it was too close to my last one, and I knew I couldn't spend the money and ask MIL to watch Claire that soon again. I am hoping they offer something in the Spring.

I believe that Spetro Magic was playing on the bus while I was waiting too. I just LOVE that music. It was like it was meant to be!
Since I rarely use ME, well actually I have only used it once before, there was a little excitement for me. I took some pictures of the route, but they are not very good.
As you can see, the weather in Florida was much different than Detroit’s was. In fact, I think they said the heat index was like 104!
Hey there Goofy!
Getting Closer!!!!
We have arrived!
First drop off was All Star Sports.
Next stop All Stars Music.
And FINALLY …All Star Movies!
I grabbed a few dollars to tip the ME driver and went out and waited for my bag…..and you know what……I walked away with the stupid money still in my hand. I never realized it till I was in the check in line. I guess I was to excited to think about more than one thing.
The lobby was packed. I chose NOT to do online checkin because I wanted to be sure to get my requests, which were Dalmatians, first floor, in a refurbed room. I would say both lines were equally as long and it didn’t appear that the online checkin line was moving much faster.
I have my back to all the people in this picture, so it doesn’t look that busy, but it was!
After a bit it was my turn to check in. I had a really great CM checking me in. I asked if my requests were met and she said no, and then got on a phone to see if they could be. After a bit of talking, she said I could have Dalmatians 2nd floor, or Fantasia 1st floor. I asked if the Fantasia Room was refurbed and she said yes, so I went with that one. I got my packet and KTTW and off I went to find my new home for the night.
I've had very good luck with ME and it looks like you did, too. It's a fairly pleasant ride and I've gotten to the hotel much faster than the old days of waiting for luggage and then the crazy Mears Shuttle. 104 degrees? Ugh, probably steamy, too!
