As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. I got a red light ticket too...though I just paid the fine. Court costs in our area are upwards of $175 which is what the ticket cost! I felt the same way and that was in probably April and just now I feel back to normal. Shake it off and remember your clean record! You will be fine.

I would have happily paid the $100 ticket to avoid dealing with the court, etc but it's the surcharge for car insurance for the next 7 years that I'm not okay with. The violation would come along with an increase in my step rating which = higher insurance premiums. DH and I are also into four wheeling so we have multiple vehicles registered/insured so it would be a toll of probably over $600 before my step rating was back to 9 again.

I agree with you here. There is NO CHANCE IN YOU KNOW WHERE that I would've paid that ticket. In some states, yes, I would've, but not here in MA. Even though technically you wouldn't ACTUALLY be surcharged for it, you would lose your safe driving credit, which would increase your insurance. I mean, there are ways around increasing the overall insurance, but let's not get into logistics

Now, when we left hours later, I saw why it was $5. Cars were parked every which way. Pulling out of my "space", I could've either hit a Cadillac or a pole. I chose the pole. Total cost of the accident, $508. In addition to losing my safe driver rating, I was surcharged. Minor accident, 3 points. Paid the surcharge for 5 years, the 6th year, it was still on, but no surcharge. I could've paid the accident out of pocket 5 times over. Seriously. MA is in desperate need of an overhaul of their "points" system.

Yeah, after I posed up I realized it's not technically considered a surcharge but losing the so-called discount is a surcharge/penalty in my mind. MA is ridiculous, I agree!

Was this your first offense? I though first offense moving violations didn't count against the steps? I know Lenny got a ticket a few years ago for something and we just paid it but it never affected his step. And I know when he got in his accident that did affect his step, it only went against one of our vehicles, not both.

It is my first so I don't know first hand but I was told it would. Two vehicles are registered in my name, two in hubbys so it would affect just two.

If it came down to a surcharge, it should only affect one. Both our vehicles are in my name, on the same policy and Lenny's surcharges are only on one vehicle.

Yeah, it was not a fun area. Do all court houses have metal detectors and scanners like airport security now? Or is it more urban areas, primarily?
I had to go to the court house in Quincy once and they didn't have them but it was a long time ago. I was definitely more comfortable in that area. Plus all the one way streets in Brockton got me all confused trying to leave, LOL
All the court houses have the metal detectors and stuff now. I grew up in Brockton, so the one ways are no big deal to me, plus I know the shortcuts and back ways. Quincy though, ugh. I'd almost rather have to go to Brockton. The people that end up in Quincy court are pretty rough and have usually been around the block a few times.

I think I was 19 when I was there so I was pretty oblivious to the world back then. Just lived in my own little magical bubble and thought everyone was nice. Then I went to college at Clark in Worcester and I would walk from there to the Centrum... that's really not an area one should walk alone, LOL

When I went to Dedhan Superior Court last year for Jury Duty, they had them (and have for quite some time). So does the Wrentham Courts where Lenny had to go a couple of years ago. And Wrentham is a really small town.
