Eight is Enough! The Wiseman and Friends Trip - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Background, Our food!!: Our food plans have been modified a bit too with all the changes! But here are our ADR's that we have had since January.
Thursday-We are planning on chilling out and hanging around Pop Century, maybe going to Downtown Disney that night. Thursday and Friday we are NOT on the dining plan. We have reservations only. Our dining plan doesn’t start until Saturday when we check into Wilderness Lodge. So we will be eating counter service and splitting meals and starving ourselves until the dining plan starts! LOL
Friday- Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge (meeting my Aunt and Uncle who live Haines City for dinner.) This is an out of pocket meal, so we may not eat all day Friday. (ha ha)
Saturday- Luau at the Poly! (A tradition on the Saturday night of our trip)
Sunday-Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner
Monday-Sci Fi Drive in for lunch
Tuesday-Coral Reef for dinner (This is a kid pick, this will be our 4th trip here. My kids love it, I would have rather booked Le Cellier or something different, but mom didn’t get her way!)
Wednesday-Ohana breakfast at the Poly
Thursday-Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic Dining Package OR Primetime (still deciding with the change in Fantasmic being offered each night. Not sure if Dining package is worth it?? Opinions??? Both restaurants we have never eaten at. (New thing!)
Friday-1900 Park Fare at The Grand Floridian. Have always wanted to visit the Grand Floridian. So we are eating w/ Cinderella for my daughter is this is our last meal. (sniff sniff)
Saturday-Our flight leaves at 6:00 pm back to Ohio. So we will have the morning in a park, grab a counter lunch and head back for Magical Express. (Don’t want to think about this part).

No, Sunshine Family, no trip reports from the Park for me. I work in the IT realm and I have always had a firm NO LAPTOP DURING MY VACATION policy. Or, I will end up working or feel like I should check my email. When I'm gone, I'm gone. But I will do a full trip report when I get back telling you all about our trip!
Can't believe its only a week now! The summer has flown by! Of course things always pop up before vacation. We have 2 dogs, a lab/shepherd mix and a chocolate lab, who normally don't like other dogs. Last week we came home and a Brown Cocker Spaniel was layingon the porch w/ my dogs and barked at ME like he was protecting our home. It was in bad shape, had been on the run for awhile. My husband fed him ( need I say more?). We tried to find him a home for a few days, posted stuff online that we found him, but after a week we decided to take him to the vet. So now we have a new 1 year old brown cocker spaniel. Our older dogs are "farm" dogs. They are outside and you feed and water them they are fine. This little dog is now a worry. My in laws are going to watch him, but he still isn't trained on our underground fence, so we are leaving in a week and feel bad. So this is a distraction. PLUS, my daughter had a terrible tooth ache and she needs a root canal! So now, we are on antibiotics and going Monday to a specialist. Hopefully the pain and work is done by Thursday when we fly out. So of course, alot going on and alot of distractions. But I guess I haven't worried about the flight with these other things? LOL
I haven't even begun to pack yet. I'm so out of sorts!!!
We were at WDW in June and we went with friends. It really made the trip extra special. Between us we had 3 boys and a girl too. Hannah ended up getting spoiled rotten since she was the only princess!
Being able to switch from CSR to Wilderness Lodge is fabulous!!!!

I hear you on that. For my vacation, the blackberry stays BEHIND! And I always leave behind my remote access fob so I can't check email (well, I can but since we're not DVC members, I will only check work email if work will pay the fee.)
I normally am super organized and I am not this year! I must get started tonight! I am certain I will forget something! Yes, even though Bailey acts like she hates being the only girl, it does have it advantages! We just finished up the baseball season with my son, and he had football camp this week...hopefully this weekend includes some much needed home time getting things done around the house and packing!
Nick and Ryan' Mom- We were looking forward to CSR, but when WL was only $200 more it instantly became worth it! I think CSR is so pretty. But we do go when its brutally hot, and having inside corridors is a big advantage! It just has seemed everything worked out well (so far) for this trip. They need it and we need it! So CSR will still be there next time!
Sunshine Family- I am taking my Blackberry because I can't live without it, but am NOT checking email and I make sure my personal phone is not attached to my work email! LOL

Thanks everyone! Made some headway last night. My daughter is packed and it all fit. Just have to weigh it and work on the next kid tonight.
We were going to take the kids to see POC On Stranger Tides tonight after work (due to the baseball season that begun in May and was every weekend, we didn't get to see it yet). We were surprising the kids after work as a treat before Disney, to get us ready for the REAL Pirates. . I checked to order tickets online and its no longer playing in our town. Its in Columbus, but that's about 50 minutes away and not on the North side thats closer! Ugh. What a bummer! They already saw Cars 2, so we aren't sure now what we are going to do. I was pretty bummed it wasn't showing anywhere else around out house!!
