As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am old school too. I don't like them either and wonder if there is a trend going on. I do understand people in the Army etc getting them...that to me makes sense. It is getting to the point that the body without tatoos is sexy but who am I ? I like mullets tooo
I know in MN you can't get one until you are 18, even with parental consent. I thing the law in FLA has change Ashli. On Miami Ink some one came in and she was 17 turning 18 and they had her come back after midnight to get it done. Her mom was with her too.

I am old school too and have had the tatoo fight with my daughters. No way were they getting one until they were 18 and I didn't want them to get one then either. My personal opinion is tatoos look terrible and I can't understand why people get them especially on their faces or ones that cover half of their bodies.

I wonder if that had something to do with it being on TV or if she did not have the notarized form....because this link is as of 2009 and it shows that FL still allows minors to get tattoos with parental consent. ( Tattooing and Body Piercing ) (I know the Minnesota law is wrong on here, but that law just went into effect in June of this year. I found no info on FL putting a similar law into effect in 2010.)

I am not a fan of tatoos, either. That being said, DD19, has 4 of them. They are very small & tasteful, thank goodness (1 on each foot, a tiny star on her inside wrist & a small butterfly on her shoulder). She wanted them before she turned 18, and I said no way, wait until you are 18 & can sign for them yourself. I am hoping she is done. So many people have them now...I think it's just the "current trend"...sigh...

thanks its good to know I'm not alone. I'm not against tattoos I just think he should of waited .. I think its on his leg he sent me a picture of it but I haven't responded I honestly don't want to start a fight. so I said nothing
I got my first tattoo at 16...a fairy on my upper hip and it can be hidden anytime(all the time) I want. Nobody knows it is there my DD didnt even know I had it until a couple of years ago and she will be 13. But I do nto see me letting my DD get one until she can sign and pay for it herself.
I am old school too.. I have never wanted one and don't really get people wanting them. Maybe it comes from my Grandfather who had a rose ( think B&TB) tatooed on his forearm. It was pretty old and faded by the time I could ask him about it when I was a child. This was the late 1960's and I he got the tatoo when he was a young man. He would tell us how foolish it was have gotten it and he would always tell us that anytine we asked to look at. Fascinating for a child. COurse there was a name there too though we could no longer read it. I don't think it was my Grandmothers name
Later on I worked with a 21 yr old guy who entire body, except for his head was covered with tatoos. He said he started getting them when he was 15 and wished he had not done it now that he was 21. He would be in his late 40's today and I wonder what they all must look like now. So I guess to each his own, I have waffled and have not yet done even getting one of those fake ones at Disney. That is as far as I would go.

OH NO!!! Not mullets!!! Business in the front, party in the back!! LOL!!

I actually have 4 and two are quite big. I have a big Tink on my left shoulder blade blowing pixie dust that forms my boys' names. I have a very big one across my lower back (dh refers to it as a 'butt hat'!! LOL!!) that's a butterfly with swirly things. I also have a butterfly on one ankle (very small) and a Mickey on the other. HOWEVER, I did make a point to put them ALL in spots that are VERY easy to cover. I TOTALLY agree that having them on the neck, face, or any other spot that cannot be covered is folly. That may be perfectly fine when you work at McDonalds (not that there is anything wrong with working at McD's, just using it as an example), but most businesses wouldn't hire you with them. I know it's only on your skin and doesn't denote how smart you are or the type of person you are, but first impressions are EVERYTHING, so I don't understand why you would do something that could permanently impede your future. Now, of course, if you were going to be a tattoo artist, then it would be like advertisement, so I guess then it would be ok! Anyway, just sharing my thoughts and letting you know that even though I DO have tattoos, I TOTALLY see your point!
I had to laugh when I read this! My FiL dated a girl named Barbara back in HS and after they had both graduated. They broke up, and he started dating Edith. He thought it was pretty serious, so he got her name (Edith) tattooed on his FORE-arm! It's huge and covers the entire arm from elbow to wrist. Wouldn't be bad, except he didn't stay with Edith. My MiL had to look at that name her entire married life! Oh - and she was Barbara - the original serious GF. He never got her name tattooed on his body.
He uses his tattoo to warn the grandkids about doing stupid things that sound good at the time. Some of his granddaughters have tattoos, but they're all small, non-naming ones that are usually covered by clothing. They all got them after they turned 18.

My hubbies neice is terrified of needles (to the point that her parents had to hold her down when it came to getting blood work done-very very extreme behaviours she exhibited)and yet she got a tatoo....I don't get it She cant explain it either.
They are addicting for some people from what I hear too.
I cant stand them on the face...I think that is extreme and I would imagine very difficult to remove too.
I personally don't like tattoos, nothing against them, but it's not my style. I have 3 boys (10, 7 & 5) and I'm always telling them that no tattoos or piercings until they're old enough (18 or more) and can pay for them with their own money. I remember wanting a piercing when I was like 16 and my mom didn't let me, by the time she gave me permission I didn't want it anymore. Hoping the same thing happens with my kids.
My DH has 2 tattoos that he got when he was a young kid in the Marines. One is
the Marine Corps Bulldog and the other was his ex-wifes name and a rose. Well
before we were married he decided that he didn't want the ex tattoo so he
started the laser removal and it HURT LIKE HECK! He still needs to go back for
several more treatments but all you can see is the green ink. It just looks like a
fuzzy dark green blob. I'm just happy that both the tattoos are on his upper arms
so you can't see them unless he goes without a shirt.
He wants to have the Bulldog tattoo redone but it won't be while we are married
so I guess he won't ever get it done. We've also talked about our DD ever wanting
a tattoo and when she is old enough, living on her own, paying her own way then
she can do what she wants to do. Until then.....not happening.
