As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have already purchased a few Christmas gifts, but I have many more to buy. We love putting up our Christmas decorations; we usually start the week of Thanksgiving.
No decorations up yet.
All shopping done (except DH but I know what I'm getting-too big to buy yet)
Nothing wrapped.
International cards ready to mail.
Pretty organised but moving house in 2 weeks
I have a few presents purchased, and ideas for what I want to make as gifts. As for decorating, are you kidding me? I just hung the Halloween lights on Sunday (and I haven't gotten the extension cords out to plug them in yet)

Work has been so crazy this fall that I haven't really thought about any holidays yet. BUT... once I put away the Halloween decorations next week, I will start pulling out the trees one by one and have everything decorated before Thanksgiving. DH and I both love having the tree lights on at night and stretch that out for as long as possible. I take the kids' Christmas picture the day after Thanksgiving so I can get copies right away for cards. I enjoy Thanksgiving, but am not big on decorating for it, except for the dining room - it is given full Thanksgiving attention.
I have bought 2 things and am going out on Saturday to try to get new Ugg boots for me and dd (not a surprise) We will decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving. This Christmas is going to be a difficult one as it will be the first one without my mom who passed away in June so I will probably go a little overboard to compensate.

We normally put our decorations up right after Thanksgiving as I normally have 5 days off. I might just go ahead and do it the weekend before, so that I can enjoy those 5 days.
I just bought the first two gifts last night...on a roll now. I have bought the containers to put my baked goodies in for a few family members and my co-workers, so that is done. I did buy some gift card tins, as I tend to give a few of those. Wanted to get a good selection
I have a few holiday presents and decorations to make, I will start on those this weekend. I decided to get a small 4 foot tree to put in the kitchen and decorate it with disney ornaments, so I am super excited to get that going. I just have so much stuff that I tend to put it out early and keep it out later to get my money's worth!
Oh, and for those who have pets who can knock over trees, I do have a solution. Years ago when my Mom dealt with those early am crashes and messes, she took small mug/cup hooks and put them in the window frame (tree was always in front of the picture window) and wrapped small wire around the tree and attached it to the hooks. Tree didn't move then and you could barely see the wire as it hooked behind the tree. Just a thought...

I'm in retail the last thing I want to think about is Christmas. We don't put the tree up until December. My daughter keeps changing her mind about what she wants for Christmas. It's a good thing i hVEN'T STARTED YET.
lIZ
I'm too frustrated about it right now to be happy about it.
My inlaws have invited themselves and my husband said ok which I will deal with (and will have to since I have to do all the cooking/cleaning/gift buying as usual and will be home with them all day for a week because husband can't get time off over Christmas this year. Oh goodie).
And now Mother told me she and Dad have changed their winter RV schedule and will be coming here for Christmas again even though I told her that the inlaws are coming and we had planned for my parents not being here. (Mother is a bit nuts and needs zoloft or something because she's always so darn hyper.)
Husband is mad - he's already told the inlaws who have called me frustrated and wanting me to do something. Sigh. It's looking like Christmas this year is going to be one huge stress me out fest.
I hope Mother was wrong - she will say stuff just to say it without it actually happening. I tried calling Dad on his cell phone to find out what's what but he's not answering.
I know I won't even start shopping until I get back from my solo trip to Disney, that I am soooo looking forward to, since the kids change their minds about what they want a gazillion times, my husband never tells me a thing he wants until a couple of weeks before christmas and we draw names on my side of the family for the nieces/nephews around Thanksgiving.
I do know we'll be putting up the tree and decorating the living room before my trip since the kids will be home all Thanksgiving week for the first time and I'll have to come up with something for them to do instead of playing video games all week.
Sorry this was so long but it's been a rough day so I guess I'm venting a bit.

Halloween decorations come down on Monday and Thanksgiving goes up.....Thanksgiving comes down the day after and Christmas goes up and stays up until Little Christmas. I have started making more mickey decorations for the Christmas tree...As for shopping, I already purchased pandora bracelets for my GDs and I'm letting them choose a bead to add on...and I have started knitting afghans for gifts.....that's it so far
I have to get my act in gear! In order for my family to all be together in the same place at the same time (or a majority of us anyway) we created a holiday called "Chrisgiving." It was impossible to have all four sisters and my cousin at the house at one time. This one goes to her in-laws on Christmas. This one goes to hers on Thanksgiving. This one has to work one or both. You know the drill. So we created a holiday that forced us to take the time to be together. When we first started, it would happen at one point between Thanksgiving and Christmas when we could all get together--no other obligations. We used to have it at my house, until my mom got sick and my cousin moved to Texas. But it remains the same: we have a meal together and we share presents.
So now it's at my mom's house the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I have yet to begin shopping for that. Or for my husband's side of the family--whom we'll see on Christmas.
