As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've seen MP, LK, & Beauty all on Broadway and all were great! The Lion King is absolutely amazing and unlike anything you've ever seen before. Def get tickets if you can, you won't be sorry, and you'll be "husband of the year"! LOL!

If you have a Disney Visa, you may be able to get discounted tickets (or at least be able to buy tix before the general public). I got something from Disney Visa in the mail the other day for purchasing LK tix for Providence in Feb.
We got that offer yesterday in the mail for the Providence show. Lenny so badly wants to see this but according to the website, none of the "cheap" seats were available and going to the next category (which is the , with their 2 processing fees tacked on (one at the amount of $30 bucks!!), 3 tickets would be well over 200 bucks for us and I just cannot afford that right now, Christmas present or not .
And for those wanting to know, here's some info on it to give you an idea:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday night shows:
Golden circle seats: 70 each
Orchestra seats: 63 each
1st Dress/orchestra far sides seats: 55 each
Front 2nd dress seats: 45 each
Rear 2nd dress seats: 28 each
Friday night, both Saturday showings and Sunday afternoon shows:
Golden circle seats: 83 each
Orchestra seats: 73 each
1st Dress/orchestra far sides seats: 68 each
Front 2nd dress seats: 58 each
Rear 2nd dress seats: 33 each
And then if you really, really want to splurge, there's a premium ticket package that starts at 133 each. And that supposedly covers:
some of the best seats in the house
Commemorative program
Complimentary show merchandise item
And the offer is good through November 4th when the tickets go on sale to the general public.
Good luck to anyone wanting to get tickets. I hope you get the Visa offer and can use it.
I just wanted to add that the website is www.ppacri.org and the phone number is 401-421-2787. There was a special code to order and it does say you need your Disney Visa to order the tickets. I'm not going to share the code though as I'm not going to assume it's going to be the same for everyone and I don't know if everyone is even going to get one.

I ordered my tickets to the Lion King in Providence for Feb 20. I do have a Visa card and a little bird told me the code they received, it worked!
I got gold circle seats (Loge) Row C (the rows are A-D) and they were $83 a piece, plus a $30 processing fee and $2 handling fee (I think it was).
I can't wait!!!!! That is actually WAY cheaper than when I went to Boston in Mar. I paid $75 for the cheapest seats and the most expensive seats were over $300 a piece. So I thought $133 was CHEAP!!! I would have totally bought those if I hadn't got home from WDW 3 weeks ago. The lady, whom I spoke with on the phone, said I could get 5th row seats for that price.
Well, i'm still having a hard time deciding! I asked her how much she liked the movie Mary Poppins. (Without hinting about tickets to anything) She likes it but prefers other Disney movies. We still could go with the Lion King. Or maybe something that isn't even Disney related? The Nutcracker and The Rockettes are other options...She loves the movie Grease, but that isn't coming around here until April/May. Ah well, I hope I decide soon...
I have ABSOLUTELY LOVED every single Disney show I have seen. So I was counting down the minutes until The Lion King! I saved and scrimped, plotted and planned...and then when the big day came... ehhh. I just didn't love it! I am anxious to see Mary Poppins, so I don't have an opinion. But if you asked me right now, between the 2 shows, I would say go for Mary Poppins. Lion King was just too... different, or something. I was really disappointed.

I loved LION KING however my DS's, DH and DG felt the same as you. While it was ok it definetly wasn't worth the price of the ticket. On the other hand I loved it, enjoyed the costumes and singing dancing. I am planning and plotting saving etc to go see MP on broadway with my DS's school in May (few days before our Disney trip) Hope you enjoy MP
Go to Lion King if you have the opportunity. FOTLK cannot hold a candle to the Broadway production. Period. It just can't. No way, no how.
Last Christmas I bought tickets for my parents to go (I had seen it once before). DH was the one to make the run. He ended up buying a ticket for me to go again since he knew I liked it so much. Words cannot describe that show. The gal the was Rafiki was AHHHH-MAZ-ING. She got a (long) standing O from our show.
I get chills every time and last time I got misty during the opening number.
I missed Mary Poppins when it came through. It stopped in Indianapolis the week before our vacation to WDW. I simply could not squeeze it in. I will catch it next time though.
I saw Lion King as a traveling Broadway show (3 times) and in London's West End. It was glorious both places,
My DDs (12,17, and 27) just went to see Mary Poppins a couple of weeks ago, as a traveling Broadway show. They LOVED it!! They were very excited to have seen it and the two younger kids are still listening to the CD in the car - EVERYWHERE we go, everyday!
