As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Meet n Greet with two online sites, once with Calvin, and once with a former friend at the last minute when Calvin was too sick to go. The secret is to get rides out of the way first then do candy. It was at DCA last year and the lines for Toy Story grew longer and longer. They have plenty of candy and goodies waiting. Last year we got to play the games on Boardwalk for goodies. I am not sure how they do it this year and am waiting for October checks to come in then will go around the 24, my birthday.
Tote bags, pen light for looking in bags and dark spots, Rolaids, and Zip Loc bags. You will have lots of fun. the bags they give you are tiny. CMs will put one piece of candy in those but the pillowcases and tote bags allow the CMs to dump lots of candy. I always thank them even if it is something I cannot eat as I will trade those off later. At some stations I would be so excited to get something that they would give me that item instead of other stuff. I love the Lemonhead jawbreakers and got a ton of those.
They do offer healthy treats and most of the stuff is gluten free.

I've done the party at WDW and am excited to try the West Coast party with my mom for her birthday! Sounds like its a good time! And I'm glad I'm not the only one packing Tums or Rolaids, lol, candy always gives me heartburn! I know when DH and I did the party in FL we had SOOOO much candy, and it was all pretty good, I was quite impressed, but I'm loving the idea of healthier treats at DL. Mom would've loved being able to play the games on the boardwalk for treats, that's her fav part of any visit to DCA, but I think she'll have fun at DL this year. Thanks for the great info!

I hope to take my scooter as I would hate to rent one for the event. Also wet wipes might be called for, lol. Last year it was hit and miss on what you got. Some stuff I would not risk eating because I could not guarantee that the item was to my dietary restrictions. The best place had to be by the plane in Condor Flats where they were giving out Gharidelli chocolate squares. The animation building must have had 8 to 10 hidden stations that a lot of people missed. Bugs Land had them hidden areas. I will be on the watch for hidden spots for candy.
Cheeze nips type treats last year. I am going with Mom in a few days and cannot wait to see decorations. They had candy corn growing in Sunshine Plaza and from palm trees. I hope this years parade is as good as last year. Last year I took a camera from a CM and ran over to Jack Sparrow to get pictures. I AM EXCITED. I liked last year's decorations on Main Street, so many things to see and do.

There is a lot of construction this year but I can tell you about last year. DCA mainly does Sunshine Plaza and the front part of the park for Christmas and Halloween. I never developed the film, sorry. Check online for photos of last year's event. From what I remember it was just the front area. Christmas saw giant ornaments in Bug's Land, Next to Ariel's Grotto was a Santa meet and greet. The front was decorated and that was all for Christmas.
Disneyland goes all out for Christmas and Halloween time decorating. Every part of the park seems to have something festive going on. Halloween at Big Thunder Ranch was rather nice, I have photos of that in my Janky photobucket acount.
