As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I was AT THIS GAME!! It was so amazing, but I nearly had a heart attack. The disallowed goal was the same ridiculous nonsense as in the US game against Slovenia. He wasn't offside, it was a legal goal, and I (along with I'm sure every other US fan) have had ENOUGH of this crap. BUT, when Donovan got that goal in extra time, it felt like the stadium exploded. We all just were screaming and jumping and I think I hugged about a hundred people that I dont know. It was the best sports moment I've been present for ever. We have tickets for the round of 16 game too since we won our group. I can't wait!!! After the US game today, we drove down to the Germany/Ghana game, so we got a good look at the team we will face (Ghana). I for one think the US can do it!!!!! (and I tell you, if we get another legal "disallowed" goal, and you see some crazy woman running onto the field to tackle the referee, you can tell your friends "Hey, she's on passporter!!" because it will be me.) GO USA!
I thought you might have been there! How awesome!!! Cheer them on in the next game too - will ya?
Maybe you'll do a trip report of your time there when you get back! That would be something to read about!

OF COURSE I will be cheering them on at the game today!!! I am so excited, I can't wait for tonight! I'll be right near the midfield line in the upper section. We've already been to this stadium, so I know the seats are AWESOME. I can't wait!!!!
I will definitely be posting a trip report when I get back. I am actually writing it as we go in a journal, but I haven't had the time to type it up yet and get it all coordinated with my pictures and everything so I think the actual posting will not be till I get home at the end of next week. Glad you want to read it!
GO USA!!!

Ashli, howheartbreaking was it being at today's game? We watched the whole game today in our hotel room and I can't believe it was the end of the road for us today. I know they predicted Ghana to win, but it was a great game, except Ghana being babies, wasting time and pretending they were fouled when they weren't. I will give Landon Donovan a lot of credit for how he played this World Cup as he was amazing. Clint Dempsey couldn't get a break at all this World Cup and I felt so bad for him since he and the rest of the guys played their hearts out. I guess I now have to root on England, Argentina, & Brazil.

It was actually really awesome being at the game up until Ghana scored in OT. The vibe was so fun - there were a zillion US fans partying around the stadium before the game. I was even on ESPN in the pre-game (or so I was told by several friends). They filmed me because I had a glittery US flag tattoo on my face and apparently showed my face then zoomed in on my tattoo! But everyone was in such a great mood and being so supportive of the team. The game was tense, but everyone cheered them on all the way. I think if Bradley hadn't have started Clarke or Findley, it would have been our game to run with, but sadly I'm not the coach. The guys still put up a good game, especially Donovan, and I couldn't be anything but proud of them.
Guess Sunday wasn't any better for you with England getting totally crushed by Germany? It was sort of sweet vengeance for the US fans here in SA, because all the England fans who had stupidly bought tickets for the #1 seed from Group C assuming it would be them (and it was us :-) were rooting loudly for Ghana.
I was at the Argentina/Mex game last night though and that was really fun. Argentina is my second team after US....and now that England's out, Brazil is the next one I want to see taken out.

We have the game DVR'd - I'll have to go back and see if the pre game is taped to see if I can see you. How neat!
I said the same thing once I heard England lost - sorry England fans. I said it made me feel better since we had lost too. DH agrees with what you said about who the coach played too as he said pretty much the same thing after the game. he's rooting got Netherlands and someone else (I can't remember) to win now.

That's so cool that you have it DVR'd. I couldn't believe it when people said they saw me.
Yeah, I think a lot of the US fans were in unison with the wondering about some of the lineup. Everyone was cheering loudly when they announced each player in the lineup before the game, and then they got to Findley and we all sort of just sat there like what? The English lady behind me even remarked "Oh that's kind of sad, no one cheered for him." I'm sure she didn't realize that our three best halves of WC soccer so far were the ones he wasn't in. Oh well, who knows what would have happened otherwise. All I can say is I'm ready for 2014 to start right now!!!! We're already talking about our trip to Brazil for that. Like I said, I'm mainly rooting for Argentina, but I wouldn't be upset if the Netherlands won. I'd only really be upset to see Brazil or Ghana win. Regardless though, I hope the final games are exciting!!

I'm pulling for Spain at this point, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Netherlands win since it seems like they are always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Out of the semi-finals matches I thought it would be Spain vs. Netherlands. Since I have a dear friend from The Netherlands, I'm rooting for hem, and I know one of my 2 DBils named Joe is heartbroken Germany isn't in the finals and probably thinks I'm a trader since I didn't root for them (sorry Sabine if you're reading this) and I'm part German.
Go Spain! I thought they played great today against a tought opponent. I really think Spain's going to win the whole thing (I felt the same about Germany if they would have won today). I don't think the Netherlands have seen an opponent yet in this WC that comes even close to Spain (or Germany for that matter)'s talent. Spain's keeper Casillas is just amazing. I think I might even have to admit he's better than - gasp! - Tim Howard. Or maybe they're just about even. Yeah. Even. I Tim Howard!

I don't watch soccer either. It is too boring for me. I like baseball better. So you're not alone! I don't even know who won the whole World CUp tournament!!!!!!!!!!
