As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). If you don't mind me asking.... what airline are you finding Boston to anywhere in FL for Feb 2011? I need airfare for that month, and so far I only see Delta released thru then. I check Jet Blue DAILY !!! Delta is ridiculously expensensive for the week I need. I really want to get this booked so I can stop thinking about it !!
Try Southwest out of Boston. They are cheaper then MHT

In my opinion, if you fly a lot (or watch airfare a lot), you probably know a deal when you see one. Used to be you could always bet on a FL trip right around $110 when it was on super-sale. Lately, you're lucky to get in under $200. So, when a non-stop on Southwest was available Fri-Sun for $170, I jumped.
I do agree, that if Southwest is in your area, often it is worth it to wait for them to release their schedules/fares before booking. Case in point, my trip to FL in Feb. I booked on Delta for $200, and the next morning SW released fares through March and airfare was $170 non-stop, which blew Delta away, especially when you consider the bag fees on top of the airfare (or you can get a Delta Amex card, and duck one bag fee per person).
Fortunately, Delta has a next day by midnight cancellation policy, so I dumped those fares and went with SW.
Personally, I'd be tempted to buy the <$200 KC-MCO flights, since Southwest is looking at $124 each way as their lowest fares through mid-March (which works out to $280 after fees/taxes). Sure, you might miss out on a few bucks saved, but this way, it would be off my to-do and to-worry-about list
My brother and I are polar opposites when it comes to travel planning - I plan, plan, plan, and usually book way in advance, and he waits to the last minute. We both often end up getting great deals on airfare. The difference is that I never miss a trip, and he sometimes just skips his vacation since he doesn't get the deal he had hoped for...

Holly, I also saw Southwest from PVD to Tampa for only $84/each way. We are flying to Orlando but I'm very tempted to book that and drive the 1.5 hours for that price.
To the original poster... definitely wait for Southwest to release their rates. I've found historically I get the best rates when I purchase between 2 and 4 months ahead.

Well as of today most major airlines have rates for our trip and I was shocked!!! I did expect for the rates to be higher but this is just nuts. I have rates for 981.00, 1026.00, and 1800.00 for round trip for 4 from chicago to orlando (MCO) I am now wondering if I should book the 981.00 or wait for southwest and the discount airlines to come out with their rates and if I do will the rate go up??? They said our dates could be avail in OCT but they can not say for sure. Any thoughts on this.
I know you asked months ago so you may already have your answer but on Southwest's FAQs (Southwest Airlines - Frequently Asked Questions) they now have it posted "You may now purchase Southwest Airlines travel through March 11, 2011. On October 5, we will open our schedule for sale through June 3, 2011." HTH
I just priced southwest to compare the rate we did get out of ohare on united. I was shocked to learn that southwest was 100.00 more and I will not pay that much for the bags to be checked! I am very happy with the rate I got!!
Just started looking at fares for our upcoming March cruise..and the rates were ridiculous! We normally pay $69 one way from DC to MCO and now we were getting over $200 one way..so we are going to wait! So yes, waiting is the best thing..
