As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

There was a discussion on this a while back (started with someone posting about seeing folks pouring a "clear liquid" into Coke bottles at MK), and it does seem to be on the rise. The whole "drinking around the world" in Epcot seems like it should be stopped. CM's can see folks coming in with tshirts proclaiming their intention - those are the folks that perhaps need to be reminded about responsible levels of drinking.
And as others have said, just one drink can hit you much differently in the heat than it might at home.
When we were there in January, I saw a lot more drinking as soon as the World Showcase opened. I had not noticed as much in previous trips. I did not see anyone out of control, but I was most often in Epcot in the morning.
My family will never attend the F&WF again. I can tell you we counted many people passed-out on benches and people just out of control. We were afraid for the children and babies in the strollers., if someone lost their balance and might fall on that baby, that could have be something very serious. That to us takes away from the "Family Vacation".
I was in a small group of military that did "Around the World in 80 beers" at Epcot back in 2004. However, I fear we were in the minority. It definitely was not 80 beers and we had folks in the group that were not drinking. We didn't get completely sloshed nor did we act up...except for singing "God Bless America" in the American pavilion...by request from someone who had heard us earlier in the day give our performance there...but we were still good!
I think it boils down to acting responsibly. Each of us knew when to quit. I had wine in Germany, France and Italy...after that I was done...and they were only the wine samples. We had a guy that walked all the way with us till he could get a pint in England. We have some great pics of the group in each country.
I would be so upset to see people inebriated and nasty anywhere in the world. I had no idea the F&WF had become a downtown bar. I would have to agree with Ken...report, report, report!
I was amazed at the amount of people walking around in May that had Tshirts on and had all the countries on the back and as they had their drink in that country CMs would sign off on it. Noone was ever to the point it distubed me or my family but it has gotten progressively more popular and with it being a "family" park I am not too sure it will always be a good idea. IMO. I do not drink anymore, mostly because of my meds but also because those days of hangovers are behind me, LOL. My DH does enjoy his beer but he brings his own and only a 12 pk for a week. 2 a night and it is done in our room away from other people and their children. I watch and if I ever saw anything wrong I would def report! I have however been embarassed at Pleasure Island a couple of years back at the amount of drunk people and women barely dressed and removing more while walking around. It def has gotten better but still.
Definitely- somehow its become a place for people to go and 'souse'it up---
We saw more of it last trip and the last time I was at F&WF- it was pretty bad- people loud and drunk even early in the day
In the UK, you should be refused alcohol if you are considered to be drunk.... ok it doesnt happen many places in the UK but I heard that it happens in some of our theme parks. But my point is why dont the CM's refuse to serve drunk people?
p.s. Reading this is putting me off trying the F&WF!!

My DH has a co owrker that went during F&FW and when he returned and told us the stories some sounded interesting but the amount of "drunk buddy" stories def turned me off too. I will not be trying EPCOT during this time. EPCOT is our families favorite park to date but it will change if the drinking there gets worse, and my DS begin to think it is OK to drink and have a blast regardless of consquences while on a family vacation. It is one thing to have a few drinks but another to be loud, rude and publically intoxicated IMO. I agree they should be cut off PRONTO if it is visible they are drunk. Bars get sued over why wouldn't WDW? Security should be walking around the worlds and policing the situation, double the amount of security and remove people right away to stop problems.
Just a thought ... but .... has it gotten worse since Pleasure Island closed?
YES, YES AND YES! There was a girl walking around in a "princess" costume bragging about the party she was gonna have in WS and i am not sure what offended me more, the fact that she was visibly drunk or that she was visibly not fitting into her costume and wasn't when she entered the park. I sat and watched EVERY man stop and stare! I am at a family park and do not need to deal with this here. Or shouldn't have to anyway. Everyone from CMs to security was drooling over her. It was innapropiate IMO and she should have never been allowed in the park dress that way. When she was visibly drunk at the entrance she shouldn't have been premitted in either.

YES! I think that probably has a lot to do with it. It was certainly a cheaper admission fee to PI than to Epcot if that's all you're there for. I hadn't really thought about that until you said it, but that is probably dead on.
I am sure the Disney CM's have been taught to handle the overserved situation. I wouldn't necessary condemn Epcot because of a few drunks. Hope that expulsion from the parks is enough to stop people who cannot handle their liquor consumption before they ruin it for other guests. Maybe a CM can weigh in here on this discussion?

I am sure they've been taught, just not sure they are doing it. We saw a group of obviously drunk 20-somethings getting more beer in England outside Rose & Crown, and having their shirts signed. The CM serving them seemed not to notice, or not to care, that they were drunk.
