A dream come true part deux -Pre-trip report - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ann, since you are looking for suggestions for dinner on the 30th, and you're planning to be in DTD, what about Ragland Road? Have you eaten there yet? Here's a link to the dinner menu: Raglan Road Irish Pub Menu - Pleasure Island - Downtown Disney
Whatever you decide, your plans sound great. You're sure to have a very magical time.
you know, I was thinking of Raglan road.. We all love Shepherds pie & the pics of it here look Yum-o...
Jamie is planning a lower brass meal somewhere in DTD so I don't want to go to the same place he is..
I sat down last night & wrote out part of my to do list before the trip.. I also wrote out my tentative shopping list for the trip.
first the To Do:
Call for pet/house sitter for my parrot.. My Aunt may watch him for me but I want a back up just in case she can't
Call for airport transportation since we're leaving my van home for Jamie & Jim's van is out of commission right now
Also on my to do list is to read & print the PassPorter E-books that I know will be helpful.. been reading & printing all morning.
We also have to go through our clothes & I want a list from everyone as to what they need for the trip so the shopping list will be very tentative..
Since our last trip I have signed up online for every HBA free sample there was.. I keep them in a Disney box & I have amassed a nice collection of toiletries for the trip. I REFUSE to use the Mickey soaps & shampoos.. too cute!!
I haven't gone through the box but I'm hoping I've got enough stuff for all 5 of us.
I also bought Wisp combo toothbrush/toothpastes.. they are a 4 pk on sale at Wal-Mart for $1.50 & I had several 50c off coupons so the cost was only $1.. yes I know more expensive than toothpaste but also less space in the suitcase. They come in spearmint, peppermint & cinnamon & I got several of each flavor for everyone.
Target also had socks on sale 6 pr for $4 so I snatched them up for Shelby & I.. Have to go back & get the boys socks
Everyone but me also needs new bathing suits so that is on our shopping list.
Jamie & Brendan also need drinks/snacks for in their room . They aren't allowed to leave the room for ice etc so as I did last time they'll take capri sun pouches etc & Jamie also wants to but Ramun <sp> drinks in Japan for in room drinking.. his roommate & best friend is also a Ramun lover so they want to buy a case of them the day they go to Epcot to share... I wonder what the band director is going to say when he sees Jamie walking on the bus with a box of glass drinks!!
i'm sure i'm forgetting something..
todays WDW goal is to get the phone numbers & research for all of the above to-dos & possibly call them & get info. Also, to read the PassPorter E-books & print them out..
Wow you are really into the planning, how great to be able to be there when they come down main street. I would cry. Dont forget the camcorder. I have been sitting here learning how to do the pixies, smilies to pass the time. We leave in 2 days to go to Phila. to stay the night and fly out in the morning, hope the weather is good and no flight delays or cancel's. To bad we are not there the end of the month would of loved to have been able to see your boys in the parade. Have a great time with all your planning.

Love the Magic of Disney Thanks Dad for our first 5 trips.
Sorry guys for the delay in updating.. it's been a crazy, hectic & VERY VERY sad week.
As I posted in the Sunroom, my Aunt, who was like a 2nd mother to me passed away VERY unexpectedly last Sunday.. To say this week has been a whirlwind has been an understatement,. My Aunt was my rock!! She was my go to person & I really don't know what i'm going to do without her in my life!!
This upcoming Disney trip could not come at a better time.. My Aunt was so looking forward to ME going on this trip..she was going to watch our Parrot for us so we've had to find alternate sitting.. My brother & his wife have offered to check in on Polly while we're gone & feed him etc .
I did get some disney things accomplished this week..i've got both boys almost completely packed.. they both need sunglasses & I think that's it for their shopping list.
I also have 90% of mine & Shelbys clothes packed..save for a few essentials I have to pick up..
Jim on the other hand is in need of tank tops.. when he went through his closet most of his tanks weren't travel ready so we took a trip to Wal-Mart.. they don't have tank tops out yet ( but they have pool stuff out) we're going to go look this week & hopefully get him packed & ready to go.
We still haven't secured transportation to the airport yet.. that's on my 'to do' for tomorrow.
My MIL threw us a small curve ball when she said she wanted to come to Disney to see the boys,.. she called on Sunday about 1/2 hour before we got the phone call about my Aunt so we havent spoken to her since & we don't have any idea on what she's going to do.. where she's going to stay etc...
sorry for the small update... just wanted to keep you guys posted on the latest on this trip
As i said in the beginning.. I cant tell you how I'm soooo looking forward to this trip!!

When I last updated we were on the look out for tank tops for Jim.. Wal-Mart, nope not in stock yet ( but they DO hgave swimming pool chemicals), Target, nope, K-Mart nope.. mall stores.. nope.
By chance I did an online search & came across a company that sells T-shirts, etc.. called Jiffy shirts... GREAT price.. $3 per tank top ( WITH shipping included) we bought Jim 10 tanks & they were here the next day.. I would definitely use them again.
With that taken care of all I need to buy are a few more items for all of us & we're packed..
Jamie kept insisting he wanted a pair of HD sunglasses.. I found them at Wal Mart the other day & he's been so happy.. wearing them everywhere.. He looks like Bono from U2 with them on.. i'll have to get a photo of him..
we called today for airport transportation & it looks like we are going to go with Super Shuttle.. anyone use them?? good bad??
On Monday I get to call for online check in..
I did some re-arranging (I hate to use that dreaded word CHANGE) of ADR's here are our new ADR's :
Day One:
Dinner @ 1900 Park Fare
Day Two:
Breakfast @ Chef Mickey
Dinner @ Cape May Buffet-we've never been & i'm soo looking forward to it as I love seafood (while Jim won't touch it, or eggs!! ) I'm especially looking forward to the crab legs
Day 3:
We still think we want to add another breakfast table service but for now we're just wining it & will either eat @ the resort or whichever park we go to.
late (7:45pm) dinner @ Le Cellier
Day 4:
Breakfast @ 1900 Park fare this is a never been for us, we loved dinner so b'fast should be just as good, especially since they also have the strawberry soup at breakfast
Parade day for my boys
Dinner @ Crystal Palace
We are doing late EMH @ MK (open till 3am) so we'll probably also grab a late bite at Pecos Bill ( a favorite of Jims)
Day 5:
Lunch @ Tusker House another never been & we get the Nemo seating with this lunch
Dinner at WCC
Day 6:
Breakfast @ Kona Cafe another never been & really looking forward to this. i've heard such rave reviews of the tonga toast
Dinner @ O'Hana we didn't have the best service or food the first time we tried this but I hear so many good things about it, I want to give it another shot.
Day 7: ( going home day)
Breakfast @ Boma- one of our favorite places to eat.. Jim loves the pressed coffee pot so we'll be good & wired for a final day of touring.
our plane doesn't leave until 8:30 so we have lots of time to get a last day in..
I think that's the latest.. I've been battling a lot of depression over my Aunt's death & in turn that has flared my IBS so in addition to feeling mentally icky.,. I'm also feeling physically ill.. I really hope the pains & ick don't follow me to WDW
