As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Your pet!
I love Pets!
As most of you know we now have 5 dogs & three of them were rescue so we didn't get to choose their actual names but do have some nick names....
Sandy (Brittany/E.Pointer mix... Rescue) became part of our family 7 years ago she is 8 now. We call her Queeney because she rules
Harry (Spinone Italiano ... Rescue) became part of our family on New Years Day 2002, & he is approx 6-7 yrs old Dh calls him Big Guy as he is around 100 lbs. I call him Sir Harry because he thinks he rules
Bianca (Spinone Italiano ... Rescue) also became part of our family New Years Day, 2002. She is 7 plus years old. We both call her Baby Bea or Bea Bea. She is a real sweet heart (actually all the Spinone's are) Dh also at times calls her Dietee Bea because she looks like she is walking with a loaded diaper at times ... sorry but she does
Zeek (6/24/01) Dapple Dachshund who thinks he is a big dog is often called Little Sh-t because he has not been the easiest thing on four legs to house break. We also call him Zeekers. Zeek is DD's little guy but he thinks he belongs to me. He was going to be Zeth then Zeb & for some reason DH kept calling him Zak so we ended up with Zeek (he looks like a Zeek)
Maggie (4/4/01) Spinone Italiano & a hand full. Maggie is Maggie Her official name is La Principessa Magdalena, and she is a princess! She has a WHOLE LOT of names, some I can't repeat on this family board (DH uses these names ) She is my devil dog and is always into some kind of trouble or mischief. You don't dare put something on the stove and walk away, can't leave anything out on the kitchen counter and forget keeping the trash can within easy reach because all you hear is MAGGIE!!! YOU LITTLE............... You can fill in the blank We also call her Mags or Mookie. I just liked the name Maggie.
I love my fur kids

Re: Your pet!
Mickey, the cat was named."very optomistically" by DS, after Mickey Mouse. Now he's a cat with "attitude", and is called Mickey Mouth! Andrew, our Sheltie was named Rigby when we got him at the age of 7 months, but I couldn't atand having an English name for a Scottish dog, so we renamed him Andrew! DP and I named the Scottie pup "Simon" after reading though Diana Gabaldon's "Outlandish Companion" to come up with another Scottish name that she liked too. THAT was a hard one! Re: Your pet!
Our furry little family member is a chocolate-point long-haired Siamese with the most incredible blue eyes you have ever seen. She was already named when we rescued her, Duchess we added her middle name Marie. Both from the Aristocats.
Did you know all Siamese cats are born pure white? They get there color points as the age. That's my lesson for the day.

Re: Your pet!
Ginger is a golden retiever/terrier mix, we got her as a birthday gift for my youngest daughter 14 years ago. She was just a baby and drank gingerale at the birthday sleep over that night. I know now that the words birthday, sleepover and dog do not mix well! Her name is Ginger Sue, but we call her Ginge, Gingy, Gingy nator-also tator, tator tot and alligator, as in see ya later. She is big, furry and white.
Hermie is a Chuihuahua, The kids named him Hermano Xavier, which they thought meant brother Joe but actually means brother something else. Jose would have been Jose. We call him Hermie wormie, Mister, Mister twister, cookie, cookie boy and buddy. He is rust colored.
Harley is our newly adopted furry kid, he is also a Chihuahua named by his deceased 'father' who rode a Harley. We gave him a middle name, Dave, as in Davidson. We call him Harley barley, snookie, honey and Har. He is black.
Choulie(Chulie) is our dearly departed kid, we got her after Ginger and named her Patchoulie which is a dark spice opposite Ginger, a light spice. Her middle name was Ann, we called her Choulie Ann, Choulie boulie, Choul, masul and the gunky queen because of her runny eyes.

Re: Your pet!
First the cats.
Ozma, the oldest, was named after a character in the Frank L. Baum books on the Wizard of Oz. (Not sure which character was Ozma or which book she appeared in).
Little, the middle child, got her name when DH's daughter was very young...she thought Little was little in comparison to her older kitty sister.
Ebony, the baby, is a black cat. DH's daughter wanted to name her something to do with her color, but didn't like Blackie. I shouted out Ebony, and it has stuck since. She's lying here next to me as we speak. (She's my baby...and spoiled to death, as are all the kitty's!)
Our puppy dog (who's not so much of a puppy anymore) is Klondike. She got her name due to her pure white coat, which made DH think of the Klondike when he saw her.

Re: Your pet!
We have a cat and a dog..
Our cat is Squiggy. We had adopted 2 cats, and were trying to name them.. One was smart and small, one stupid and big.. so, I thought, Lenny and George. I was on the phone with my mom at the time, and she yelled out "No, Lenny and Squiggy!".. it stuck. We had to give Lenny away because he refused to use the litter box... Yick!
And our dog is Brighid. I've always liked the name, and because she's a neat all-purpose goddess in Celtic mythology. (Fertility, therapy, metalworking, and poetic inspiration.. among other things..)

Re: Your pet!
Our pet Pug's name is Bentley. Why you ask? Because we got him used and that was his name already. He was 1.5 years old when he moved here. His first owner was a student who was moving away.

Re: Your pet!
The terrier-poodle mutt I had for 15 years was named Savannah Jane after Jimmy Buffett's daughter.
When she died, I was very depressed. I wandered into PetsMart on adoption day and met my Norwegian Elkhound, and she just looked like a "Zoe". Turned out she had heartworms, but I decided to to keep her and treat the condition. I found out afterwards that "Zoe" means "life" -- which we kind of gave to each other. I thought that was kinda cool.
When I found George on the side of the road, I knew he definitely wasn't the brightest bulb in the lamp, and everyone would think I was brain-damaged to take him in. All I could think of was that character from the Bugs Bunny cartoon who says, "I will hug him and squeeze him and call him George." It fits.

Re: Your pet!
Well, I think you all know Goliath. He's a large dog and I wanted a name that would make strangers think twice when they came to our house. We actually got him because we live too close to a penetentiary and shortly after we moved here they had a riot and the inmates were only 10 minutes away from a mass jailbreak (or so we were told). So I got scared and told my hubby we were getting a big dog. We chose the name Goliath after the giant in the Bible, also when I was a kid I loved the tv show Davey and Goliath, and also DS was a fan of Disney's cartoon "Gargoyles" at that time with the lead gargoyle named Goliath, not to mention it just fits him. And people do think twice when they hear us call him.
P.S. Don't tell the bad guys what a big, friendly suck Goliath really is.
Right now Drew is on the floor letting Goliath lick him all over. ICK.
