Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
Dang, I was able to free up Saturday the 20th, but then checked back and saw so many had already made arrangements for the 27th. I have to watch my bro that Saturday. Was really hoping I could go, since I loved the last one so much. Maybe I can talk the fam out of going away that day .

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
This is so great - I'm really looking forward to seeing you all here in our wonderful city! South Street Seaport is really fun, as is the Circle Line! I haven't been to Madame Tussaud's yet and have wanted to so that would also be a kick My DSiL was recently at the Museum of TV and Radio and loved it There's also Central Park which is a magnificent sight to see and explore - and the Museum of Natural History is right near there if anyone's interested in that too

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
This will be my first trip to NYC, so anything I can cram into my brief stay will be great!
Thanks for organizing this Joe!

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
I just called and got info on Circle Line.
Let me know if this is something you think.
$25.00--three hour cruise around Manhattan.
Sailing times from Main Terminal are: 9:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30
Sailing times from South Street Seaport are: 12:00, 1:30, 3:00, 4:30
Sandy, what time does your bus head back?
This is a big chunk of time. Should we for for it?
We could meet at Dsiney Store at 11:00 hang out until 11:45ish. Then take the subway to South Street and catch the 1:30 cruise. Get back by 3:30. I can add other things?
Please give imput.

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
Hi PS - I LUV WDW Our plans are to take the shuttle from Logan on Friday night and to fly back on Sunday. We have reservations at the Club Quarters on West 45th between 5th & 6th Ave. I hope you can convince your DH. If you want info on the hotel, let me know.
Susan, I think we're meeting at the Disney Store (on 5th Ave?) then we'll go on to other things from there.
We're looking forward to seeing everyone, old PassPorter friends and new

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
Count me in, and I'm bringing the family this time! The cruise sounds good to me! Is there a shorter cruise, Joe, maybe an hour or so. And then we could squeeze lunch in somewhere!
I'd prefer not to do Madame Trussaud's, as we are planning that on our Sept Lion King jaunt. But anything else is good with me!
Looking forward to another great day in NYC with my Passporter friends.

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
WOW! It looks like we have a big crowd gathering for the meet. There is room for more. C'mon natives! I know there are more of you on this board. So Far we have Sandy (Tiki),Goofy1957(Tom) and wife Tinkerose(Rose), Tigggrl, husband and Shane, PS-I Luv WDW, Suzy Q' Disney(Susan) and Aurora adn Family.
We have a few maybes: Jose(Brant), Jsbalciol and GF, and PS- I Luv WDW.
I think Aurora has a point. I am concerned with Sandy getting back on her bus on time. Sandy, if we did the 3 hour tour,( I'll hold off on Gilligan jokes) what time do you need to get back to your bus?
I also loved the Beast. Tiggrl, don't worry about it for Shane. I took a 3 year old on it and he loved it. I'll include the circle line website here.
www.circleline.com
Any more PAssporter interested?
Any more suggestions?

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
Sounds like it'll be a great meet - I'm really looking forward to it. I'm sure Shane will be fine if we do the Beast - he's quite the daredevil these days and not afraid of very much (to his mommy's dismay )

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
I have to be back on the bus by 7:00 p.m., so even if we do the 3 hour tour I'll be okay (unless, of course, like Gilligan, we never return! )
I also am in favor of lunch somewhere, even if it's fast food.

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
I have come up with two itineraries. Please let me know which you prefer.
PLAN ONE
Meet at the Disney Store at 11:00.
Drag yourself out by 11:45
Subway to SouthStreet Seaport
Take the Three Hour Cruise
around Manhattan 1:30-4:30
Eat at one of the restaurants
at SouthStreet 4:30- 6:00
PLAN TWO
Take the Beast Ride 1:00 - 1:30
Lunch at one of the
SouthStreet restaurants. 1:30- 3:00
I can go either way. I LOVE the Beast but, Circle Line is a great way to see all of Manhattan.

Re: Mini-Meet In NYC in July
One question on Plan Two. Will we still meet at The Disney Store before going to the Beast?
We don't really have a preference on which plan we do, and either works with our schedule. (Sorry, Joe! I know we're no help.)
BTW, in case I didn't say this before... THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing all the planning for this meet. You're the best!
Rose and Tom
