As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Dbf and I shall be there Dec 7-15. The other W5 will be there varying dates, but we shall all be there the 10th through the 13th, I believe. We all have meets with other PP who will be there at the same time. In fact, we are meeting up with the Osbourne Lights group on the 13th and I'm not sure how large that group has gotten to be!
First for me this trip:
tea at the Grand Floridian
Le Cellier
Chefs de France
Chef Mickey
WCC
Wishes Dessert Party
Crystal Palace
O'Hana
balloon ride
hopefully I'll be smaller and feel more comfortable riding things--i want to try EE and get back to my favorite rides
As far as twists, this has been a heck of a ride so far. My TA is a wonderful lady and so willing to get me the best deal. My trip started out as 5 days and has grown to 8nights/9 days and with free dining! I see it as very ironic that two things happened for me this summer. One the diet plan that i have been using forever is finally working, resulting in a 38 pound loss so far. And I found out I'm prediabetic. No meds, just tracking my blood sugars and all is going very well there. Does anyone else feel like its a cosmic joke that I get free dining at a time when I'm going to HAVE to practice moderation with all the marvelous food? Its just wrong to leave that good steak behind. Oh well.
and just to add....we are going to be meeting up with everyone else who is going. we just are a "group" for the group gathering rates and benefits. so, any of you wanting to meet up and join in...c'mon along! no one is going to be turned away from our hilarity! there are only a few things that we have locked in. and some of us will be doing other things with other passporters. can't wait to see what dave and jennifer have in store! so, miss liz, i expect you will be joining in with us as well on lots of the activities.
yup, yup, we are but a small pebble in the PP pool. I know i'm going all the way to florida to meet Lori who also lives in missouri. the chef mickey meal is with other PP also. didn't i read that there are close to 100 of us down there those days? so lots of meet n greets shall happen, some planned, some random. Can you think of a better time in a better place with better folks? i think not.
I am very impressed with what you all have accomplished with your planning and with the challenge. Sounds like you ladies are going to have a blast int he Happy Place!!!!!!

ok, to cover some basics. This will be my 7th trip to Disney, so more trips than most folks I know, but a novice by PassPorter folks. Our first trip was in 1983 and ds turned 5 there. We took dbf there our first year together because my wise dd (13 at the time) thought it was important to know how well he "travels." He travels well and this will be his 4th trip. I have always taken kids to Disney with me--sometimes just my own, sometimes 40 scouts. This will be the first time for just us old folks. Its going to be fun however I shall miss my dd because we are finally getting to try some things on our family list--like the GF tea. I would like to do a photo session this time, if there is time. And dbf has never seen Spectromagic . I don't know how we let that one slip past. As usual there is so much to do and just not enough time to fit it all in.
So far, I have the tangible memory bags done for the group. I'll have to post those photos later since they should be a surprise. The group already have the Christmas buttons, scarves, and the "Big Bad Wolf Hand Sanitizer" to protect us from swine flu and nasty, skanky, yankee germs.
My mousekeeping envelopes are made and money placed in them. Tip envelopes for resturants are done and tip money in them. Weekly schedule filled in and printed. Daily schedules done but not printed yet. I need to check to make sure the Wishes and all those scheduled things still have the correct times posted on the Disney web site. Lollipop covers and lollipops are together and ready for distribution to wonderful CMs who need a special "thank you." CM thank you cards are printed and ready. B also made CM thank you cards with the group logo for those big dinners and activities. And the suitcase is still packed and ready. Closer to the departure date, I'll check the weather for Florida and "thin the herd" some. Last December we used every cold weather item we brought and were very happy to have them. Hoping for a little milder stuff this time.
We will be driving from Missouri and will take 2 days. My dd has already given me her shopping list. So our first stop is usually DTD but this time it may be the GF. She wants several of the chocolate candy boxes from the Gingerbread House. We have tea there the first day so that all works. Lots of photos of the big tree and decorations, as well as the gingerbread house. then we have to get over to WL to see that tree and BC to see the carousel.
dbf loves the street entertainment at DTD so that's high on the list as well. Lots of things on the "need to buy" list there also. But first and foremost on my list is chocolate covered strawberries. as noted earlier, in June I found that I was prediabetic, ok my doctor feels the world is prediabetic, so he considers me diabetic but just didn't tell my insurance. Of all the things to think about, to miss to be sad about and my first thought was "OMG, none of those wonderful chocolate covered strawberries in Disney! my local cde/diatician, aka ms skinnie minnie was no help at all. of course she thinks Fiber One is a wonderful snack as well as breakfast and meal. All the joy had left. However, Dianne, our own Passporter cde sent me official info on chocolate covered strawberries and it turns out that 1 (and they are huge) is a "freebie." it takes 3-5 for a serving, a couple more if they are dark chcolate. life was good again. the sun shone on the land and all was good. I did post a thanks to all the nurses and medical people here. I don't know what I would have done without S and D helping in their fields of expertise.
so now i have 60 days to go and can't wait. so with health issues and possible job loss and all the trip is still happening and boy do i need this trip!! I believe the rest of the group need this time also. Betty Sue is joing us there and I have lost track of all the PassPorters who will be there at the same time.
tentative schedule for me, as stated the W5 aren't joined at the hip so there are times we are together, times with a few others, times with LOTS of others.
Mon--GF tea, shopping and sight seeing and photos
Tues--dinner at Resturant Merrakest
Wed--Raglan Rd with B and Y and family. scheduled for the time with the band and dncers
Th--Chrystal Palace then Wishes Dessert Party and MVMCP
F--International Dinner and Illuminations viewing
Sat--WCC and O'Hana
Sun--balloon ride, 50s PT and Osbourne Lights with PP group
Mon--Chef Mickey with PP group, le cellier
Tue home
we have always done the luau but never eaten at o'hana's. I believe part of the group is going to the sunday brunch at House of Blues. and there is a cigar/mojito meet there somewhere. we will need the shopping day at DTD so will skip the HOB and asthma and cigars--not so good--i have this ridiculous obcession with breathing, so i'll have to skip that.
