As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love the movies and the shows as a child and my most cherished book had a picture of Mickey on the front that I can still see in my mind today. I went to DL breifly when I was 11, I didn't make it to WDW until I was 17 and have been back 10 times since and 3 trips to DL. Now we have DVC and go every year at least once. I love the bond our trips have created for my DDs.
I was lucky that our parents took us to WDW about 4-5 times while growing up. The last visit was 1990, and then I didn't get back again until 1998 - and twice that year! I realized then how much I missed it and how much it was in my memory and made me feel at home, and happy too! I've been trying to get back at least every other year, if not annually, ever since.
And now with 3 little ones, it's soooo much more fun! My girls are lucky that they've been 4 times already, and my DS twice. (he's the baby, he's got some catchin' up to do!) Now I've got 3 more trips on the horizon, plus two visits to DL as well! Totally obsessed, and I'm totally OK with it. I agree with Janice, I really plan on retiring there!!!

I have always loved Mickey Mouse and enjoyed Sunday evenings with the Wonderful World of Disney especially the cartoon shows. When my grandmother took me to see Bedknobs and Broomsticks and I remember wishing that Angela Lansbury was my grandmother-lol. Must have been that Disney touch!
My honeymoon was spent at Disneyland - you know that once in a lifetime experience? Well I've been lucky enough to go there several more times since and each visit is more magical than the previous...
My first trip was in 82 when I was 20. I went with my grandparents. That was it for me!! Although I've only been there 9 times(I'm 47 now), I just can't wait for the next trip. My dh and dd has been with me 5 times and we've always had so much fun. All I do is talk about disney 24-7. My co-workers ask me everyday "how many more days...".
Like everyone else here, I have a profound appreciation and love of Disney, particularly Disney World.
I grew up in a small town, in a very strict home that...well...just not that good. My parents did always make annual trips to Florida, which included trips to WDW. I remember things like It's a Small World, and walking around the different countries of Epcot and Innoventions, Journey Into Imagination (or whatever it was back then). There's such a message of hope in the future and an awareness of the world that I would not have had if I never got to leave my little town. I think it gave me an advantage in school (most children in my hometown did not have such opportunities) as we'd get to certain topics and I had visuals of certain time periods or cultures.
So, yes, my time spent at WDW as a child definitely laid the ground work for the love of WDW...but to remember so many of those things and to see my children with their eyes wide open, takes it to a whole new level. It's one of the very few things from my own childhood that I am sharing with them.
I didnt go again until 1999 (i think) and thats when my obsession with the parks really began.
I really do plan on retiring there.
WOW Janice this is so similar to me! what month did you go? I went in January 1999 for the first time ever!
I was 30 years old!
Before i would just watch the movies and never heard of Disney,if I did I did not give it a second thought, so we went in 1999 on a January day, because a friend insisted and gave us the tickets, our first day was Magic Kingdom, went with DH.
I walked in thru Main Street looked at the castle, turned around trying to figure where this beautiful music was coming from, my eyes got huge and after doing a 360 degree turn I looked at my Husband and said "I JUST LOVE THIS PLACE" since then my obsession began!!!!!
I have ALWAYS wanted to go to WDW!! Now, at 57 I am finally going in 18 days!! My great friends and I are taking the trip together. When I was a single mom, it was all I could do to make ends meet. Now, my daughter and her family have gone to WDW about 6 times and my son has yet to go. I plan to put together a trip with his family when they can (he was unemployed, but thank God has found a job).
SO, at 57 here I go.... I finally get to go to WDW!!!! I am already looking to plan my 2nd trip!!!
My first WDW visit was in 1994. I was 27. My love of WDW has grown every time we've gone.
My first trip to DL was in the early 1980s (I know I was about 14, as my Dsis had her learner's permit that year). Loved it, even if I was a bit too cool for the characters. Loved it better in 2004.
DLP was great in 2002, and just okay in 2008 (but, I did spend a week there in 2002, with DH and kids and some friends, and a day in 2008 with a couple of classmates).
My appreciation of Disney has amplified each time I go to one of their parks.
BUT - I will NEVER be able to duplicate that thrill of getting there and driving under that entrance sign the first time!!
