Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I didn't vote because neither choice fit my view. I would love to see WDW expand, but I would also like to see them expand/refurb. the existing parks until the economy improves more. I like discounts, but I think that especially this year, they have provided an exceptional amt. of them. My family usually does 1 long trip each year...really, it is not much different in price to stay 7-10 nights versus 4 nights, esp. if staying at a value or mod. resort. I think alot of people out there don't do Disney like us PPers because they prefer to do other things *gasp*. I have a friend who took her family this June and will "Never go back again". I have other friends who breathe WDW like I do, and I have many who like it well enough to visit once or twice, but not annually.

My two scents..... I couldn't even imagine if the Disney company had never built Epcot. So, it is quite conceivable, that in the years to come there could be another park that would be equally as good or better go up. Why not expand and add another park? They certianly have the space. If the time and concept are right, I say go for it. Would I then have to extend the length of my trip? Probably not. Not every park and/or attraction appeals to every person.
I have a costco membership, but I don't feel compelled to purchase one of everything just because I'm there. There are certainly things that I'd omit seeing in various parks if a better option (for me) existed elsewhere. With the hopper pass it makes it pretty effortless to jump around to see the things that do interest me.
As far a discounts go, sure who doesn't like to get one? But personally I think WDW has been pretty generous with offers and pin codes. It's a slippery slope, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing for a multitude of reasons

I would be in favor of additional parks. I love everything they have done so far. I am sure I would enjoy any additions they make.

I was sent a WDW poll the other night about Annual Passports. It asked what I liked about park hopping. I said that I wish there were more major theme parks to go to at WDW. Right, I'm sure they'll get that memo right to Iger. There are rumors about a new park coming, what it is is anyone's guess. I have heard from a good source that it will NOT be Night Kingdom/Jungle Trek. That was the pricey park that they polled about last year. I read where only 1 in 8 people liked that idea. Supposedly, what they have on the drawing boards is a full-fledged park like the existing four. As for when it may get the green light, I couldn't tell you. Has anyone else heard any rumors? It seems like there have been more of them on the Net lately. I've heard the usual "Villains" (Dark Kingdom) park, as well as a World Showcase-like park that is themed around the different states and sections of the U.S.. I'm sure there are other rumors out there, as well.

I have a thought...I am sure others have already been pondering this. With Disney buying Marvel....Do you think they might build a park with more thrill rides and attractions. That Disney does not have very many true thrill rides has long been a complaint among some, maybe they are addressing that?

I agree. I think most people don't want to. I actually think Disney is a fairly affordable vacation, depending on how you do it. Sometimes we drive, sometimes we've stayed in value resorts, sometimes we've eaten all counter service. There are trips where the only souvenirs we've bought were the ones the kids bought with their own money. We dont' go longer than a week, but we average about 2 trips a year.

I couldn't vote, because neither of those choices apply to me. I would LOVE to see another park, but we never feel like we have to do EVERYTHING on every trip--- we like that there's always something to do, if we want, then sometimes we love to sit by the pool.

I think if you are like most(or all) of us on this board, you will find a way to go, regardless of your financial place in the world.
I agree with Danielle...I think they should, for now, just focus on what they already have at Disney and keep that beautiful and entertaining. Wait for the country to get in better shape economically, then see about expansion.
Adding to existing parks might be nice, but speaking for myself(and Im sure there more like me out there), I have only been a couple of times, so Im still playing catch up to all you seasoned disney lovers. There is still a ton of stuff already at Disney that I havent seen yet, so even the next time I go, there will be alot of "new" for me and my family, I guess for now, I dont need anything more. I didnt vote, but if those are my only two options for voting, I guess I would say just don't do it........for now anyway

id like to see a new park added....i just hoep it wouldnt put the prices up tooooo much, comeing from the UK its so expensive anyway, and isnt really worth going for less than 2 weeks, a cheap holiday to disneyworld from here...our next trip is bein done with budget off site accomodation and for two is costin a little shy of £2500, and that isnt including the spending money, so as long as the cost didnt go up tooo much...id love to see one added yea!

I've been to Disney enough times where I know I can pick and choose what I want to see and it seems that I'm skipping alot of things that just doesn't hold my interest any longer . Even though I have my favs when I visit each time, there's still many attractions that are outdated, especially in the MK or do not provide me with that "WOW" factor. I'm the type of person who is always looking for something new and invites new technology to present it. So I'd say I would welcome a new theme park, and still be able to visit for a week's vacation.

I too would love another park. But with so much space and attractions needing attention in the park now, I think they should focus on that first. As for not building a park due to the economy, this is the time to build a new park. First off the park would not open any time soon, therefore hopefully we will be out of this recession. Second, building a park now would open a ton of new jobs for all those out there that need one. It takes a lot of manpower to build something like that. I could see them needing 1500+ ppl to help build a park. What better time than when there are so many ppl out of work. Its all hopes and dreams anyways.

FYI I also did not vote due to lack of options.

I would much rather a refurbished Disney at this time. I would like to see some of our old memories saved. My family began making Disney our destination again last year. Another park would not make any difference to us at all. We still would stay 6 nights 7 days reguardless. Most of the Parks only take 1/2 a day for us. Also, we decided the every 2 years vacation at Disney works for us. I make sure that we budget and cut corners in order for our trips to be possible. My daughter and I would love to go once a year, but our husbands do not agree with that plan. So for now, we all would like to see a face lift at Disney and wait on a new Park.

Disney is a Big company with a Lot of Money. I believe that they can add a new park, do refurbishments, and add new attractions to existing parks at the same time. It's not like they have to save up for these things. It's a matter of having the pencil pusher executives Allow these advancements to happen.

I'm happy with the Parks that Disney has now but it would be nice in the future to see a new Park. I like Cheryl's idea of having something like TokyoSea in Orlando. With the economy the way it is now, I don't think it would be a good time to build a new park any time soon since some people are cutting their travel budgets to make ends meet.
