Nov.30-Dec.5 PTR: What better place for a Redheaded Princess than Fantasyland? - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi, great start on your report. Me and dh are band nerds too! But we didn't meet until college, and it was another several years until we actually started dating. But that's another story entirely!
Your plans sound great. I know from experience that it can be tough to travel with family, but it sounds like this time it should go smoother for you. Our last three major trips we have driven through the night (12-hour drive) without stopping, gotten up in the wee hours of the morning to drive straight through, and another trip where we did a regular daily routine with a preschooler and spend the night on the road. Definitely pack as much as possible the night before. Then just have one suitcase for your overnight stay so you can leave all the other bags packed in the car that night. If possible stop at welcome centers and rest areas where Kate can run around. Hopefully she will burn off some energy and be ready for a nice rest. And start collecting new trinkets to surprise her with during the drive. A new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD perhaps?
The last time we drove we spent the night in Lake City, where I-10 intersects I-75 - just the very next exit south, I believe. They had quite a few hotel choices and was a little bit closer than Gainesville. I'm sure there are some options in south Georgia if you can't quite make it into Florida.
Meggera and Christiejay, Thanks for the tip about packing up the night before. *facepalm* That would make it tremdously easier, wouldn't it? Then we could have overnight bags with the things we need for Sunday through Monday morning, throw those and the cooler in on the way to church, and voila!
And Christie, thanks for reminding me about Lake City. We've stopped there once, at the Country Inn and Suites, and it was very clean and nice. We will have to keep that in mind.

We plan on taking things slow and easy this time. With two seniors and a toddler, I'm thinking this is probably wise. Since we have the DDP, we did have to make tentative park plans though, to make sure we got the best use of our credits. Keep in mind, when I am listing my ADR's, this is what I am *planning* on booking for ADR's. My 90-day is on Sept. 1, so I have a couple more weeks to go before I can make them. I talk about them like I've already booked them though. It's like if I believe hard enough, then I will have no problem when that 90-day date comes. I don't relish the thought of dragging myself out of bed at 4:45 AM CST to be online and ready to go by 5, but I will do it for these ADR's. They are awesome. I've based my park plans on last year's hours, as the calendar is only up through Nov. 30 of course. Hopefully the hours won't change dramatically. Also, we have all new restaurants this time! Can't wait to try out some new places!
Monday:
After arrival and check in, we'll check out the resort, unpack, etc., then head to Chef Mickey's for dinner. After that, we plan on hopping over to MK to tour Main Street, and catch Spectro and Wishes. What better way for 3 first-timers to begin their first stay at WDW? EMH is at MK that evening as well, so John and I may stay for that.
Tuesday: Epcot
Epcot has morning EMH this day, so we hopefully will be there for that. We'll be doing an afternoon break/nap, and have a dinner ADR for Teppan Edo. YUM Well, at least *I* think it will be yum. John pulled a yucky face when I told him I was planning on doing a Japanese restaurant. Why a yuck face? Oh, well that would be because he doesn't eat any kind of vegetable, fish, or rice. I repeat, NADA. I told him he's just gonna have to man up and suffer through it though. And if he absolutely can't make a meal out of what we have at Teppan Edo, he can walk over to the Liberty Inn and get a cheeseburger afterwards.
Wednesday: MK morning, World Showcase evening - DFIL's Birthday!
John and I are treating the grandparents to a birthday breakfast for DFIL at Crystal Palace this morning. Hopefully we'll be able to catch a bit of the morning EMH after eating as well. After our afternoon break/nap, we'll be heading out to do some touring in the World Showcase. DFIL requested that we go to see the Candlelight Processional for his birthday, so I plan on trying to get a dinner package booked at Le Cellier. We also plan on having a birthday cake delivered for dessert. It's going to be so Yuuummmm. We get to see John O'Hurley narrate the CP. I find him ridiculously funny, so I may be laughing the whole time. Which seems very wrong, given the topic being presented.....I'll try to control myself. No promises though.
Thursday: AK morning, unplanned evening
We don't intend to spend a lot of time at AK. Note: we don't *intend* to. This park could very well be the 'Flaw in the Plan'. Kate is a *major* animal lover (seriously, she's going to be the next Croc Hunter), and it wouldn't suprise me in the least if she were to end up liking AK better than MK. That said, we plan to skip the bigger rides (possible exception would be EE-John and I may fastpass that one for ourselves). We'll do the Safari, and go on the "Trails" to let Kate view the animals, and then we basically should be done with AK. Flame Tree is our must-do CS meal, as John loooooves their pulled pork. We're leaving the late afternoon and evening totally open, except for our dinner ADR at 1900 Park Fare. Kate must meet her beloved "Rella"
Friday: DHS
This day will be busy. Everyone has something here that is a personal must-do. DFIL wants to see the Indiana Jones show, DMIL wants to see Beauty and the Beast, John wants to see Lights, Motors, Action! since we have never seen it before, and I want to try out for American Idol. Hopefully, we'll be able to fit all those things in before we leave for our afternoon break. We have a dinner ADR at Boma and then we will be heading back to DHS to view the Osborne Lights.
Saturday:
We'll be checking out. We plan on stopping by Downtown Disney to do our souvenier shopping and to have lunch, then we will start back home. We'll spend the night along the road, arriving back home sometime on Sunday.
Sounds pretty good! I'm sure you'll get the ADRs you want, especially if you're planning on doing them online - so nice to have that extra hour. The Candlelight Processional package info ought to be out any day now (I'm waiting on that too!), hopefully that will be online, but from what I hear you have to call for that one. But you should be done online in time to get on the phone for it. Good luck with getting Le Cellier!
My family Teppan Edo. I had a steak and chicken combo that was excellent. getting an ADR for Le Cellier for the Candlelight Processional. It would be so to get on American Idol!
