As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Although it doesn't go from Las Vegas to Orlando. my favorite is Hawaiian Airlines. The service is wonderful, the Honolulu based flight attendants fill you with Aloha spirit before you even leave the mainland, plus you get real food in coach, and a choice of food at that (either a hot entree or a turkey and cheese sandwich with potato chips and a cookie). It's a 6 hour nonstop flight from Las Vegas to Honolulu and every hour, they come down the aisles offering water or orange juice for hydration. They use wide body 767s so seating feels more comfortable than domestic 757/737s. I looooooove Hawaiian Airlines.
Least favorite: Delta because of all the changing of my flight times, seats and aircraft (chose Delta at the time because they offered widebody 767 and we could have sat 2 across, but they changed that on us to a 3 across 757). It might not sound like a big deal, but when you're traveling from the West Coast, it's nice to be comfortable.

I can relate to this. I had horrible problems with NWA when flying from Sacramento, CA to Miami, FL. They changed our flight times for the first leg of the trip. (We almost missed our connection.) Then we found out that the plane was fully booked and they tried making us sit in separate parts of the plane because they had assigned my seat to another passenger as well as myself. My traveling partner at the time had a fear of flying and we explained this to them and that he needed to sit next to me so I could keep him calm. We were fortunate that a kind lady next to him traded seats with me.

Like Lyle--- Hi Lyle!! --- being near Mpls/St. Paul--- SW is here, yet almost all flights have to be thru connecting flights and longer layovers (especially w/ kids ) aren't the best for us--- I want to get to WDW ASAP. So... I really have had great experiences over 22+ years w/ MN based Sun Country ...
They're always on time, very friendly from check-in counters to those working the flight. Even going to Mexico. We have even had some of the same attendants on different destination flights over the years... Plus, the food and snacks are still free if flight is over 3 hours ... BONUS
JetBlue all the way! Not only do we find awesome deals for under $100 round trip...they have individual tv's for each passanger. This is especially nice when traveling with children. I can't imagine trying to keep them busy and happy for 3 hours on my own. You also get a snack on EVERY flight. We travel from Syracuse to JFK which isn't even an hour and then on to Orland and we get snack & drink on each flight. Gotta love the Terra Blue's!
It's a toss-up between Jet Blue and SW. Both have great customer service and seem to be responsive to customer concerns/complaints. But Jet Blue does not fly from my home airport, so I rarely get to use them.
My favorite airline is AirTran. Even though they charge you $15 for your first bag they let you pick your seats instead of the A/B/C version of boarding on SW. Plus they participate in RAC at Disney so I can check my bag at the resort my departure day and I don't have to see it again until I land in Philly. I have never had problems with them changing my flight times either. They only changed one once and it was only by 15 minutes.
My least favorite airline is USAir
gotta go with SWA....free bags, cheap fares, and they fly rom Manchester which is 4 mils rom my house soi don't have to worry baout parking fees or anything!
JETBLUE we fly JetBlue religiously to o everywher boston orlando any where we fly jetblue we love the TVs and how you get real sized beverages and snacks your first checked bag is free which many people forget ... the service is awsome weve never had any issues with them we always arrive on time or early also the planes are brand spankin new and ou can tell also I had the pleasure of sitting with a JB pilot on my way back from MCO 2 JFK and I was asking him all kinds of questions of course and this was rite after the plane went down in buffalo and I asked him about how JetBlue handels there pilots trainging and such stuff like that that everyone wants to know...and he said compared to other airlines he flew for they are much more diligent in there training and up keep of there planes and pilots which of course at this point I could have huged him I know he really couldnt tell me any different but he seemed like a nice honest guy oh and also they never ever change there flights
My fav. airline is the one with the cheapest fares when I'm flying SWA doesn't have the cheapest fares from my neck of the woods, so I haven't used them. But my pref. is Continental because they still feed you!! Flying from the west coast, sometimes you don't get a chance to buy a sandwich because of tight connection times. Anything I pack from home won't last as flight times are over 2 hrs.
I have definitely become a Jet Blue snob I have always had great service, the one time we had a delay (and it was not even that bad) they sent e-mails issuing us credits even before I settled in to unpack. The girls love the TV's and the snacks and I have always been comfortable on their flights.
Now I do keep up with SW - my sister loves them but for me traveling to Islip (to get a non-stop to Orlando) ends up costing me an arm and a leg in cab costs so I lose whatever savings that I got by booking through them. They are flying out of LGA now but not non-stop and that is one thing I really hate doing unless I have no other choice, DD has problems with ears as it ears, I hate to put her through two take offs and two decents if I don't have too.
Flew Delta a few weeks ago to Cleveland and while I can't complain about the flight - very smooth flight especially as it was a commuter jet, but the service in the airport and on the flight definitely made me realize how much I love Jet Blue.

Do you have to pay for the meal? What do they typically serve? TIA

There are a lot of votes for SWA, but I have yet to see a flight I need for a low fare (that isn't to say they don't exist, they just don't exist when I need them). Plus, I find that they always have a connection, and I always prefer the straight flight.
I fly from Detroit and always seem to fly NWA. I have always had good luck (and reasonable prices).
We use Continental because they have a great selection of flight times from Newark, we have not experienced any delays, and we have been pleased with every experience to date (knock on wood ).
