As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've done both - the green side only once when I could convince my wife to go on with me. I don't think the orange is too bad, but I also sky dive. My sister was a protein spill cleaner for the ride when it forst opened. It kept her very busy
I did the orange version in 2003 and felt miserable for 2 hours after. Did the green in 2007 and felt fine. DW did fine on both but didn't handle EE very well. Not being a very bright person myself I will be trying orange again in November. I guess I'll see what happens!!!

I wanted to go on it but I didn't want to ride by myself. The kids were getting restless (and we encountered a rather rude and ungreatful/uncaring person while we were in the area outside Mission Space but that's a whole other thread by itself) and we'd just gotten off Test Track and I wanted to give myself a little time to recover between rides so DH went on it by himself. He did the Orange Team and had no problems what-so-ever (but he can ride anything and not have a problem). He said he thought that I could handle the Orange Team with no problem. At first he had to adjust to the air blowing on his face (it hit him around his eye area) and bothered his contacts. He said once he got used to it that it was fine. We were going to go on the Green Team when we went back to Epcot during evening EMH but we didn't get to ride on that ride (my mom stayed with the kids that night).
I rode the Orange version (before there was a green one). The ride is intense. (It is the first ride I have ever been on that had airline sickness bags in front of you on the ride ). I can say I did it once, but I will ride green from now on .
My husband and I did this when we were at the world in October and we will NEVER do it again. We did the "rough" side and it was horrible. We are both okay on simulator rides and though "this can't be too bad...we're at Disney". Boy were we wrong!! We both got into the ride, which is a very small space for four people to enjoy. Then the front of the simulator comes right up to your face to make the screen much larger. So now you are not only cramped to the person next to you but you have a screen and "instruments" in your face. Once the ride begins a small fan (one that reminds you of the kind in a tanning bed) comes on and starts to blow cold air right on your face. It becomes very loud and you have to follow directions according to your "job" assignment (hope that you don't get the child that has been on this ride like 100 times and starts yelling at you when you forget to do your "job" like we did). All in all once we finally were able to get off this ride we decided it's not for us and won't ever do it again.
This is my favorite ride at WDW. The Orange version is constatntly spinning, creating the g-forces. The green version is like watching a movie in a phone booth
It's not actually constantly spinning at a high rate of speed, though -- it alternates between intense spinning (to create the gravitational forces) and going to "idle".... which is how they give you a sense of weightlessness after the intense pressure.

If you are not claustrophobic and keep looking forward you should be fine. It's an awesome ride. I find that my stomach and head can take rides better when I'm fully hydrated and not too full or too hungry.
Even though I get motion sickness on the teacups and even car sick, I always do the orange. I keep my eyes fixed on the screen and keep my head forward, I have always made it. But, if the ride was one minute longer, (I always say to my sister and husband) the results would not be pretty.

Did the orange version back when it was the only option. The kids loved it, DH and I had to sit down and recover for about 20 minutes afterwards. We were a bit green around the gills.
When they instituted the new green version, we all did that one. So, so, much better. No ill effects and it was actually enjoyable that time around. I'd suggest that anyone worried about it, do the green version.
I have only done the green version. I was very nervous about it because I had read all of these reports of people being sick and disoriented afterwards. BUT IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! I can't wait to try the orange side in December!

I did the orange version and then the green one back to back on our last trip. Both were great for me. I went on the orange version immediatly after having breakfast at Electric Umbrella. I am over 50 and not skinny. I had no problems. I returned immediatly, riding the green version with my sister who has motion sickness issues. The two versions are identical except for the feeling of G's. Do which ever one feels right for you.
The only people who should not ride, in my opinion, are those who dislike enclosed spaces. I can't stand enclosed spaces if too many other people are crowded in there. I had no problems with this issue on MS. To me, overcrowded busses are much more challenging than Mission Space.

I have been on both versions, and can do either.
I used to think that I felt sicker each time I went on the Orange, and never wanted to go on it again.
Last trip, my friend convinced me that we should go on and we did the Green version first.
After that we did the Orange version and we could definitely see how much more intense it was.
The only thing that really bothers me about Orange, is the launch.
As long as I can make it through the launch feeling fine, I'm okay.
I rode the original version ( now called orange) back when it opened. I actually asked my Dr. if he could prescribe something for me to help with the motion sickness feeling. plus I followed the directions of looking straight ahead. It helped but a few times a felt disoriented. I rode it again a year later, did OK. But I really don't like the brain scrambled feeling I get. I now ride the Green version. I wish I could ride the Orange, but it just really messes up equlibrium.
