As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I have been twice and I am going again this December. Last year when I was there I never waited for any rides other that Space Mountain and that was only 15 minutes. The snow on Main St. , the parade and the festive atmosphere were just amazing. I think if you are going the beginning of December, which is when I went, the crowds were not big but as others have said the closer you get to Christmas the busier it will be. So I say spend the extra and have a wonderful, magical time.

I've been once a loved it. You can save yourself theme park admission that day by maybe doing DTD in the morning followed by down time at your resort. In the past they let you into the MK as early as 4 pm on the party ticket.
So I'd get there at that time, ride some favorites, and watch the castle lighting ceremony, the regular Wishes, and then find a spot early for the first show of Twas the Night before Christmas (if they still do that show) After that I'd ride more favorites or see characters in their finery or whatever. See the first parade or at least part of it on Main Street and then find a spot for the Holiday Wishes. Finally see the second parade over in Liberty Sq/Frontierland followed by my rides. One of my favorites was that at the stroke of midnight they had the last showing of PhilharMagic. Awesome way to end a perfect night.
So, make sure that you get a nap and that your party can handle a late night. Then it's worth every penny.

We've been twice and are going this year, but not sure which night. We love the atmosphere and the "special party" feeling that we get when we go. Like others have said, "If you've never been go at least once". Just beware it's hard not to go back once you've been and enjoyed it.
I took DD9 last November. She was in a bad mood and didn't want to do a thing.
We did catch the Twas the Night Before Christmas show and it was really fun. We also got a pic of her with Belle in her red dress and the Beast. We originally wanted to get all the princesses with their princes too but the lines were really long so we skipped it.
I plan on going back on my own someday so I can see all the stuff we missed.
We went last year, first week of December. I'm glad we did it once but I won't do it again. I thought the rides would be a walk on and they totally weren't. We also made matters worse for ourselves by making an ADR at LTT for 6:30 p.m. so by the time we got out of that we really only had time to do a few things. That was our only time at MK for that short trip and I think we would've been much better off just doing a regular day there vs. the special event.

I have taken DD every year since she was 18 months old and she loves to go. The last year we went the princess' had their prince's with them in toon town and that alone was was worth every penny and she talked about it for 6 months. She just enjoys all the little shows the parades and fireworks.
We went last December, early in the month. What was funny was that they had expected low temperatures for all the days tht we were there (I think the high 60). Anyway the first two days were beautiful, cool in the morning but really warm by afternoon...and then the day that we had the tickets for - FREEZING!!!
I mean we actually went back for our winter coats, even with that being said we would do it again in a minute. We found the lines not bad at all, and as the night progressed they were walk ons. The girls love Buzz and I think we rode it 5X in a row. The parade was amazing and seeing everything all lit up with the snow falling along Main Street...it was so worth it and it was a highlight of our trip.

We did it last year (Dec. 16, a Tuesday night) and it was sold out, so it was on the busy side, but not unbearable. We really enjoyed the Christmas parade, the Castle Lighting and the snow on Main St. We plan on going again this year during the first week of December.
We went during the first week of December. It wasn't crowded at all, and we walked straight onto rides. We loved the characters dressed up for Christmas, the cookies and cocoa, the decorations and the snow on Main Street. We would definitely do it again.
