As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Im now at 16 days ( even though my ticker says different, Im just too lazy to go back and change it!!) I am sooooo ready to get out of Mississippi, we had snow the other day: it was gone by lunch: but the thought of snow here and warm balmy breezes there, almost drove me crazy, We have a trip planned forSept but thats all it is: a plan. Im so hoping we still get to go, DH's job is pretty secure, but you never know, so Im not banking on that trip just yet, just a happy dream at the moment!!
Yup...we have a lot of days...but I get excited every time I make a payment. And that's once every two weeks. I also decided to do some periodic countdown celebrations with the boys.
Yes!! I have been wanting to go back since 2007 and now i finally get that oppurtunity in Sept/Oct with my mom.
We booked in Jan and talk about it almost everyday.
It will seem more real once our flights and car is booked. Then in June, we make our ADRS.
I have stuff to occupy me, mainly school and dancing.
All i have to do after we make our ADRS, right before we leave we order groceries and scooter. Then we arrange to take our dogs to kennel at our vet.
Hopefully we get an early flight so we escape parking fees. My bf is not going, so he will bring us and pick us up from airport. plus. cool thing about it is that we live about 10mins from the airport so that is convenient. My bf is staying home, working and taking care of the cats while we r gone.
Plus, i have the boards to keep me company and get any last minute ?'s answered.
I definitely go in spurts. My last trip and this coming trip are to celebrate my DD's 10th birthdays (they each get a trip for their 10th bday just me and DD). My point being that my girls know about their trip way in advance. So on their 9th birthday they get their PP to start researching. It definitely comes and goes over that year of planning. But everytime we book something it's gets exciting again. For example, I received our train trip return as a Christmas present. So as soon as that was booked earlier this year I was stoked for a couple of weeks. The next thing is the airfare down there to be done it 3 weeks. That will get us going again. And it will continue on and off until about 1 month ahead. Then it's on!!!!!!!
This will be my 23rd trip and I still get hyper excited LOL
We always start our countdown when American Idol starts on TV, this is because we're usually out in FL near the final and so this gets us in the mood - I'm in the UK so we don't have the hype here for AI so when we get to the US and watch Fox we get sucked up - hence how we relate the show with our countdown LOL
Then I have a countdown on my work computer and on my home one, plus of course on here and some of my other favourite forums.
I seem way more hyped for this trip, we usually travel with friends and have done since 2002 so the last time we had alone time in WDW was on our honeymoon back in May 2004 so we're having at least 5 days alone time this trip before hooking up with friends and boarding the Magic, we can't wait oh and we have a 1BR for the first time, we figured as we're celebrating 5 years we should splurge on points
Planning is so much fun! DH loves to bug me about how much time I spend looking up this or that, reading my PP, or being on here.... For me planning is a pleasure, & my family is happy to let me do it! For this trip, my parents said, "here are the dates, have at it!" Doesn't get any better than that in my book!
the excitement comes in waves. One week I'm uber-excited and the next I'm like 'whatever'. It's obviously very exciting when you first book, and then when you start making plans, then when the ADR booking window opens up, then again when you start packing. I'm usually a mess by the time the plane touches down in FL.

I usually get so excited after I book the trip and start planning like there's no tomorrow, then I crash and get depressed waiting for the time to go by. About 3 weeks for the trip my excitement starts to build until I almost burst the day before the trip.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. We just keep saying we wish it would get here already, but then again as has been said on here before once the day finally comes then before you know it the trip is over and then life is boring again. (until we plan the next trip that is......lol) Last night we was on ebay all night finding cute Disney shirts for the whole family to wear and found a great deal on new bathing suits for my girls.

I have those same kind of feelings. I get real excited when I make our reservations for the resort. And for a couple of months I am on a Disney high. Then I calm down a bit, and start looking at airfare, and then when I get that booked I am excited again. Then I calm down, and have to wait for ADR time, which about two weeks before that date I start getting excited. And really excited after all my ADR's are made. Then I start to calm down and get excited when we have paid off the trip, and I can start packing. Then can hardly wait 10 days before the trip, and I stay excited from then until the whole trip is over.
yes, and i have my counter on my desk top and every time there is a milestone I get excited all over again. When we first started planning, we were over 200 days. Now we are down to 128, pretty soon it will be time for our adrs, then our final payments on air and hotel, and then I will have to find transportation to the airport for us. i really do get excited as thnigs go by too.
Where can I get that countdown clock???
