Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I have two co-workers who are annoying in their own way. Yippee for me they have both handed in their resignations. One's last day is Monday.

DD works in an office and theres one lady who plays her radio too loud and then sings along with it, I dont know why the people around her put up with it. NO OFFENCE HERE....but she also plays Sunday sermon tapes of her minister preaching, Thats so not the place for that, and evidently they are into alot of Amening cause DD says she will scare you half to death with an outburst of AMEN BROTHER! There is no way in this world I could listen to that day in and day out, Im just afraid she would think me a heathen, cause I would surely break that radio or let her in on some things that would not be heard in a sermon.

You betcha. I have 2 in my area who think they're being paid to socialize, which consist of either being on the phone, having visitors from other areas in our office and playing games on the computer.

It takes alot to get on my nerves, esp in this job becasue 1) I am not a manger so really dont have to worry about anyones job performance other than my own, for the first time in sooooo long 2) we all work independently- our cases are ours alone so , again, all I am responsible for is the quailty of my own work and 3) really, I am pretty easy to get along with- not that much really bugs me- its a job and I get to go hiome after my 8 hours but this woman is REALLY REALLY getting under my skin- I have started taking my I pod and a book to use at dinner in case she comes to sit with me and have taken my break off my calendar so she doesnt know when I am going-- uggg- makes me almost want to switch to working from home

I had one who was such a backstabber. I was naive enough to fall for her junk for a few weeks, but then I got wise to it. Eventually I decided needed the drama she caused less than I needed the CA$8 an hour I was making, so I packed it in. I was lucky I had that luxury though.

I had another one, back in my "returning to the workforce after having kids" job at Tim Hortons. She was from another country and didn't hesitate to play the racial card. We were assigned different chores every shift. Quite often my chore was to wash dishes and hers was to clear the tables. If she didn't clear the tables, either I had to go do it myself (which wasn't fair that I would have to do both jobs, nor did I have the time for that because I still had to serve customers) or ask her to get off her keister and do her job. She would get her knickers in a twist if I asked her to do it, so I went over her head and complained to my boss because it happened frequently enough that it warranted that kind of action. Well all of a sudden I was "picking on her" and I was a "bigot", blahblahblah. "Back in her old country, she was a doctor, and now she's reduced to serving coffee and doughnuts", blahblahblah. Could've been true, but don't doctors normally have enough schooling to know that magnets don't stick to wood? She got her comeuppance one day when she was trying to stick the Soup of the Day magnet to the wooden molding above the metal strip that the magnets were supposed to be stuck to. She'd try to stick it, it would fall on her head, she would try again, it'd fall on her head, she tried again, it would fall.... We all had to crouch down behind the counter because we were laughing so hard that we were afraid we'd get in trouble if the customers saw us....

to everybody who has to deal with somebody annoying at work.

Oh man, I this thread already!

I have a few co-workers that fit this bill. One is a very good worker, but at the same time, gets herself waaaay too involved with our clients, and then expects the rest of us to be just as devoted to them as she is. Without trying to sound like a slacker, my viewpoint is I come to work, do my job there, and then go home. I don't get involved in people's lives; I also am not going to go above and beyond the call of duty in something that isn't my business, and it irritates me that just because she's compelled to do that, she gets upset that the rest of us don't.

We also have 2 co-workers that constantly call off (literally at least once a week). It's stressful for all of us anyway, we're completely understaffed as it is. But we only have 2 part-time workers who are flexible enough to fill shifts, and it's not fair to them to always have to cover. It's also not fair to us that we're working 50+ hours a week, covering for 2 people who won't ever return the favor. However, management just can't bring themselves to fire them. It's a shame that in this economy, we keep people that DON'T want to work, and turn away others that DO seem to understand the necessity of coming to work when scheduled.

Ugh, I was thinking about this just the other day. I only work with two other women (and my boss and her DH - so 5 of us all together). One of them listens to a radio show in the morning that I hate and then will try to talk to me about it as if I'm listening too (which I'm not, I try my best to block it out). We don't have any walls or anything, so we're forced to listen to it. Super annoying.
The other one talks on the phone ALL DAY to her mom or her friends from church. She uses her headset so that the boss can't tell if she's on the phone or not. The best thing about this is, my boss comes out to have the "limit personal calls at work" speech at least once a month. Ugh. I know it's directed to her, but I still resent being included. . . . . .
Thanks for starting this thread. It made me feel better to vent about this.
