Live Trip Report From WDW 2/2 - 2/9 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I just posted in "the garage" about the photo issue.
We just got a call from the front desk, they're moving us at 8am. I just threw everything into suitcases, lol, so we're ready. Bell services will be here at 8am sharp to scoot our stuff. We're staying in the same building (Cabanas) but a different floor. It's really not that big of a deal. Minor inconvenience, mostly because I'm a nester, and I tend to spread out and put things really away. I had that dresser / tv stand so well organized it's not even funny, lol, and now I have to disassemble it all and redo it in the morning. But really, if that's the worst that happens on this trip, shoot, it's all good with me!
I'm lovin' this live report! So cool to think you are there right now and we can all read about it! Thanks for sharing. Sorry about the room change, but you've got a great attitude about it . Your daughter is adorable and it looks like she's having fun! Looking forward to more.

Thanks! I've been reading so many TR's over the past months that it's weird to think that I'm actually HERE finally, and writing my own one live! Mom keeps cracking up at every meal because I keep taking pictures of everything. But I have her well trained already to not touch her meal until I photograph it, lol.
Well... a little snafu here... we were told last night by the front desk that we would be moved at 8am sharp, and bell services would be here to move us to our new room. Well we woke up at 645am, and there was a message on our phone from the front desk that said something like, "If you want to switch rooms, call us back. If we don't hear from you by 11am we will assume you want to stay in your room." What? So we called back... they told us that they had no idea about any new room that the front desk told us about, and thought that it was our decision to move.
We had to re-explain about everything from last night. Then they told us that there are no rooms available until after 5pm today. Well if today were a park day, that would be absolutely no big deal. But today all we have is a character breakfast and then later on today, afternoon tea. We had planned to veg in the room today because we're all still exhausted and we just wanted one day to sort of just sit in the room, nap a little, etc.
So our main concern was, "Well what are we supposed to do until 4-5pm?" I mean, with no luggage, no room, no beds, no bathroom, lol... sure, we COULD walk around or shop or hang out somewhere all day... but we're just so tired, all we want to do after breakfast is come back and nap and watch some movies and really just veg.
Finally the front desk got it sorted out and found us a room. I feel bad for being a bit of a pain in the neck, but they caught us on our non-park day and it's just really awkward. They were really great and patient with us. I'm sure we're being cursed for being difficult, lol, but they really were great. I understand how the snafu could happen, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating for us.
So anyway, we're back on to business as usual - Bell Services will be here in half hour to move us directly to the new room.
I still have no complaints about CSR, the staff is wonderful. They're doing their best to accommodate us in a sticky situation.
So that's the latest here. We're all packed and ready to move, and then we'll be off to Cape May Cafe! I'll update you all later to let you know where we end up!

We got everything sorted out and got moved at 745am. So we're in a renovated room on the lake-side now. I'm sitting here looking out at the water as I type. Can't beat it with a stick!
We went to Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club this morning for breakfast and it was so fun! We were there an hour and a half and saw all three characters twice! I highly recommend this one. Great service, great food, great cast. We also got to meet Art the greeter! HE IS SO COOL! I'll post pix in a bit - I'm uploading to photobucket instead of kodakgallery and I'll go back and replace all the other photo links. Hopefully then you'll be able to see all the pictures I've posted! *fingers crossed*
Now we're back in the room resting. In a few hours we'll head over to poke around the CR and GF before tea at the GF. Can't wait! Now if only DD would take a nap, I'd be golden! LOL!

I'm loving your live trip report!!!! Sorry you had to move rooms, but I'm glad you got another renovated one.
Very cool that your DD will nap at the Poly lobby. Hmmmm, might have to see if that water lulls my DD to sleep when we're there (she recently gave up naps but *I* think she still needs them!).
