Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue **Updated 12/23~~2 Times** - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I left off with the mysterious knock on the door....
I was over at the computer and Andy went to answer the door.
I was expecting to see another dude waiting to change my filter, but instead I saw a very unexpected sight.
I hear him say something like "What are you doing here?" and I first thought, who the heck is that? Did Brandi find out what room we were in already? Was it Mo??
.....
???
.....
???
(in my best Ralphie soap poisoning voice)....it.....it was......
ANGIE!!!
I was so confused. I know I must've stood there like a dufus for a few minutes...thinking how is she here??? Did Andy and her plan this??? But NO, it was all Angie! She had flown down the day before and was staying until Sunday AND she was going to the Christmas party with us. It all started to click in my head....
All the phone calls and texts from Angie asking if I'd called back to try for the AP rate, the rushed text about the special merchandise AP pin code, the text in the car this morning, the text in the room asking our room number.... it all fit together now!!! That sneaky sneaky girl!
But we were not expecting a thing. We were caught up in the bliss of WDW, oblivious to what might be going on...
It was so great to have her there since we had mentioned earlier in the PTR that this was going to be the first year that we didn't see her. It took the whole afternoon for me to really realize she was there
So we chatted for a bit in the room, and then I said that we were getting ready to go eat lunch and that I really wanted to try Kona. And lo and behold that's what Angie had put in her tentative plans, too!! So we headed out to catch the monorail over to the Poly.
How convienent right??
Yes, it was VERRRRY convienent!!
A self shot on the monorail of course
We got over to the Poly and grabbed a seat. I can't see anymore b/c Mittens is in my face.... one second please...
Okay... she seriously just jumped on the couch and climbed right up across my face... nice Mittens. I guess it was days of humanless contact she's making up for. Anyway, she's now in her "egg shape" on the arm of the couch so we can continue.
SO, Andy ordered one of the special Kona beers and I had some fru fru drink.
I had the Kona Pale Ale first. It was very good.
I don't remember which drink I had but it was verrrry tasty... a picture of course
We decided on food...
Yes food, that's a good choice in a restaurant.
hardy har har
Anyway, we wanted a little of everything, so we ordered two appetizers to split. We had the sticky wings and the pot stickers. And then Angie and I split the turkey club while Andy ordered one all for himself. I have to say, those sticky wings lived up to my expectations.... or if I jump ahead to one our sayings we've taken from the cruise....those sticky wings exceeded my expectations. More on that later.
The pot stickers were very good, too. I always enjoy navigating my way around pot stickers with chop sticks since I'm not very good using them and Melissa usually looks at me with a look that says "Why are you using those, just use your fork, moron". You don't usually SAY moron, but your look does
True, it does.
The sandwiches were very good as well. I really enjoy anything with jalepeno mayo
Angie insisted on ordering dessert even though we were stuffed! But she was right, the banana creme brulee was FANTASTIC!!!
And since Angie's bday was coming up they brought her out this pastry creme thing on a plate with a chocolate Lilo and Stitch on it!
They brought the bill and since we both have DDE cards Angie used hers. We had to do some serious math to figure out gratuities and splitting the bill.....
Hey, I thought I was on vacation!! I shouldn't be doing school work here!!! Alls I got to say is, "is over of = % over 100" still works
I have no idea what you just said.
Obviously Andy didn't pass 8th grade Algebra. Anyhoo....
We wandered around the Poly after lunch. Did a little shopping, and then had to take some pictures of course!
We hopped back on the monorail and Angie hopped off at the MK to catch a bus back to Pop. We were going to meet back up at the CR around 3:45 for the party. We rode on around to the CR and did a little wandering/window shopping.
And I guess Andy was so surprised by all this that his EYE popped right out of his head..
Then it was stupid hat time....
I love stupid hat time.
Ah you jest....BUT, later that night you were wishing you'd bought said stupid hat. Lucky for you Pom was prepared!
Anyway.... stupid hats....
Nice right???
After our little adventure we headed back up to the room to change and get ready. We only had about an hour and I wanted to curl my hair and get cute for my Baker pals
Yes, I wanted to curl my hair, too, but I just ran out of time
I know you wanted to look cute for Pom. You two have grown quite close over the past few weeks thanks to myspace.
I call it "ourspace"
Dork.
So, coming up..... MVMCP with LOTS of friends and fun!!!!
Great start!! How cool Angie surprised ya'll. I surprises! I think Angie's pretty cool - and - she's the only Passporter I've ever met!! Your room is pretty cool, also!!
