As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am most annoyed by parents who let their children run wild in the store (with or without a cart). I am even more annoyed by parents who let their children run wild at an hour when they should be in bed-I've seen school aged children in the grocery store at 10:30 at night, often in their sports uniform.
Oh, I have so many pet peeves about grocery stores. I can very much relate to the ones posted already.
My current biggie is that the local stores seem to be going through a phase of changing their layouts on a whim. The two grocery stores I use most often have, between them, had three redesigns in the last year! As soon as I get it memorized and can make my list in order aisle-by-aisle, they redesign the darned things and I have to start all over!
They spend a ton of money on the new flooring, new signs, new shelf displays, new deli counters, and all the rest, instead of simply making sure they have enough employees at the checkout. I can't tell you how many times I've had to bag my own groceries because they can't be bothered to pay for enough employees!
I have 2 pet peeves at the store. One is when I find food frozen or refregerated that has been left just anywhere instead of putting it back where it belongs. It makes me so mad to find something like ground beef or eggs or whatever in the canned food aisle. People are just to darn lazy to walk back and put it back where it belongs. No wonder our grocery bills keep going up.
My second one is not just for the grocery store but any other store. People talking on their cell phones in the check out line. I don't care what their conversation is and don't want to hear it.

I agree with both of these, very irritating. I once saw that someone dumped a bag of fries on top of the bread at our local grocery store. Bad thing was, they belonged in the freezer that was right across the aisle from where they were dropped. The person could not walk the 5 feet or so to put them back
I always want to start joining the conversation of those that are on thier cell phones in line. When they say they are not speaking to me, then tell them then don't talk on your phone in such a way that everyone can hear
My peeve is when people stand there waiting for everything to be totaled and THEN they decide to open their purse/wallet and get out the money/card. Did they think that they might not have to pay? Have your card or money somewhat ready people! Ughhhh!
I HATE that. I work in a restaurant and customers get there checks at the table and know there total. They come up to me to pay there bill and don't have there money ready. Drives me crazy!!! Women are the worst. They throw there giant purse up on the counter and spend ten mins digging for there wallet. Then they get out the bills and say wait a min I have a penny and spend another two mins digging in there Mary poppins purse for that stinkin penny. Have your money ready especially when you know how much your bill is, grrrrrr!!!!

As I like to say " Tis The Season " ..
A car was going about 50 miles per hour in the Target parking lot yesterday, I was crossing & almost got killed.. Then the driver started screaming at me.. The words that flew out of my mouth were " Tis The Season " As in the craziness has started to early !!!!!

I am guilty of this: in a self-checkout line - buying a bottle of wine. Since the scanner can't tell I'm over 21 (by months, honestly!! :-)) the person in charge of all the self checkouts has to come and do an override. It's still faster than waiting in line for the regular check out lanes.

People that stop in the middle of the aisle to a: talk on their cell phone, b: compare prices or c: just zone out.
Hello, your not the only person in the store.....

Driving up the prices in a bad economy as it is....
I hate to say it, but I know DH and I are both guilty of the cell phone in the store thing. Mostly because our schedules don't allow us to sit down and make the grocery list together, so sometimes we need to check in with each other while we're at the store. It's hard to make the grocery list when one member of your family is at work 12 hours a night and either commuting or sleeping the rest of the day.
On the rare occasion that we go to the store together, my DH drives me nuts when he just stops in the middle of the aisle - completely unaware of the people around him. Having been together for ten years now, he knows I'll kick him if he zones out in the middle of the aisle and he's more conscious of it when I'm with him.

Judi, my wife does that!!! It drives me crazy. She gives the clerk a look like You expect me to pay for this? If I am paying I have my store card and money ready to go!!! It is no secret that we have to pay for food so why not be ready??
I agree!! I almost had a car hit me in a intersection a few weeks ago. The driver was on his cell phone and ran a red light. I kicked his car!!! It hurt like H*** but man was I happy. The driver threw on the breaks and jumped out of his car and started to come towards me. I told him not to move until the police got there. I then walked to a nearby pay phone and called "TIME" I told him to wait the police would be there shortly. I then walked off and had lunch. I mess with people that mess with me.

that saying! I'll have to borrow it, okay?
My pet peeve would have to be the lack of check-out lanes open. I was in Wal*Mart one night and there was only one, one lane open for the entire store! The line was almost to the other end of the store. And the self check-out ones were of course closed. I just walked out. Nothing's that important!

We have 2 Super Wal-Marts here in town. One is pretty good; the other one, I absolutely hate. HATE! There are 20+ rows for check-out, yet at any given moment, no matter what time it is, there are only 4 open. 2 WAAAAY over by the grocery side, and 2 WAAAAAY over on the regular store side. None in the middle. And this particular Wal-Mart doesn't have the self-checkout while the other one does. The thing that drives me insane is that this Wal-Mart is in the middle of a very busy, very over-developed shopping center, while the other, better, Wal-Mart is in the middle of nowhere. I mean, really? What genius came up with that plan? And I can't even use the excuse that one's older than the other, because they were both built at exactly the same time, and opened their doors within days of each other 3 years ago! They're not even old!
Speaking of Wal-Mart, and check writers - Another pet peeve of mine is the people who MUST write their checks (even though Wal-Mart will print them for you). I cannot even begin to explain how many times this happens to me every time I'm in the checkout line. What is wrong? Do you hate technology that much? The cashier will let you verify that the printer filled out the check correctly.
Lori - I'm with you on the kid's carts, but I'd like to go a step further and ban the giant carts that have like, the Playskool "Little Tykes" cars built onto them. 1). They take up an obscene amount of room. 2). They are like clown cars, typically filled with 534654 obnoxious children.
Huntermom, I'm right there with you about the kids out late. I've been at Wally World at 3 in the morning (because it's the one time I can get in and out without having to wait for 30 minutes in line), and seen kids under the age of 10 running around like monkeys on a sugar high. It never ceases to amaze me.
Teresa - your "Mary Poppins purses" line had me
What a great thread. Sometimes it feels good just to be able to complain about things that annoy us, even if they aren't crisis-worthy events!
