rain or no rain-we are headed back to Disney trip report!! **Updated 12/3** - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Where did I last leave u? Oh yeah, that's right-we were supposed to get up at 6:45 but I couldn't sleep-so I was up at 5 am !!
We were staying at the Motel 6 (yuck!! some may be good-but this one wasn't) in Gainesville, FL for the evening and had McDonald's for dinner (another yuck for me-I just don't like them as much as I used to when I was younger I guess).
There are 5 of us remember, so the 2 full beds weren't enough, but my son LOVES to sleep on the floor even at home -so he volunteered to sleep there on this night as well. We made him a rather nice comfy (as it could be) bed with the bed spreads and extra blankets that were in the room, we had brought our own pillows from home-so her had those too. 2 of us took a shower that night, while the rest said they would do it tomorrow before we left since we figured there wouldn't be enough hot water for 5 . We all talked and giggled some before drifting off to sleep-excited about the next day!!
Like I said, I was awake at 5, and come to find out so was Bossy and Zach , there was NO WAY my girl's would be up that early, so the ones that were awake-took turns taking showers and getting ready-while SLOWLY and I do mean SLOWLY waking the girl's up- we have to be gentle with that because if we don't-it could turn into a scene like in the Exorcist (spelling) where her head spins around and we DON'T want that now do we !! Everyone was eventually up and showered, so while they were eating on some pop tarts and granola bars-I was packing up the van to get the show on the road !!!
We were on the road by 7:45 !!! I know, I am as shocked as u !! I told the kids (especially my girls) how proud I was of them that they were able to get up and get going way earlier than expected!! I didn't think we would be out of there by 10 much less 7:45 !!
We all settled into being "on the road again" (I couldn't resist-u know u r now singing that song )-with me driving of course-I did the whole trip, but that is how I wanted it since I am prone to car sickness and the mere fact that I HAVE TO BE IN CONTROL PEOPLE !!! Sorry-I digress. The kids were either reading or listening to their ipod gadgets and Bossy and I were just talking, talking, talking-which is what we do BEST .
As we get closer, we are getting more and more excited-even the kids are talking to us now instead of listening to their ipods and such!! I had printed out directions directly to Pop and Bossy was making sure I followed them !! I forgot to mention all the tolls that we had to go thru-I am sure u already know since u have to come thru them too-but WOW, r those really necessary (just kidding I know they r)?
We are coming closer and u can tell because of all the signs (duh!!) along the way that are dealing with Disney and the feeling in the van just keeps getting lighter and lighter , we are making our turns this way and that way and then we see the sign to tell us to turn to get to Pop Century Resort !!
. There it is-we are HOME SWEET HOME (at least for a week anyway!!), as we get closer-we have another view.....
We find a great parking space right near where we have to go check in, get parked, scramble out of the van, s-t-r-e-t-c-h, get the travel documents from the van and head on inside. It is really cool in there!!!
So, this is where I will leave u for now-but don't be sad , I promise to be back soon with new and exciting details of checking in and other things as well . Have a great evening......ttfn .

I'm back everyone-sorry for the delay, kind of crazy 'round here . I last left u when we were turning into the parking lot of Pop and boy were we excited !!
We parked and walked into the main hall and saw this...., not exactly sure what all it was yet since we were headed towards the check out line. There was only a few people in front of us-so it didn't take long at all to reach a smiling, helpful face (I forgot that helpful person's name-but she was terrific). We checked in, made sure the rooms were the kind that had the door in between (I never get that part right-connecting or adjoining ), anyway-also asked if they received my fax about a certain request I made and she smiled , said they did and they loved my poem ...this is what I wrote in case u all were wondering..."We'll be celebrating a birthday and wanted to see if there are some special things you could do for me? We would like adjoining/connecting rooms on the top floor-I PROMISE I won't ask for anything more !!" I know pretty lame -but I was told it worked !! Although they did tell us the rooms weren't ready yet-they assured me that my request was granted! The gave me a little card with a number on it saying to call in about an hour or two to check on the rooms being ready. She told us how the dining plan worked, put charging priviledges on my card (although I never used it for that) and wished us a magical day! They gave us all the wonderful information and goodies (room keys/tickets etc) they give u during check in, Bossy got her birthday button and we were off to the van to put that stuff up, get my camera etc, we left the van there since we weren't sure where we would be for the week and headed for the bus stop for EPCOT.....!! Here are some pics that we took on the bus... and . We are very excited and not tired one bit so we are raring to go!!! The bus came in no time at all maybe a 5 minute wait and we were the 1st ones in line for it too .
More to come of our 1st day in the parks......be patient grasshapper !!
