As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm still confused. Is there one program for making digital scrapbook pages or do you have to buy each page? I'm so confused. I want to do this but I have no idea where to even start. Kori I love your book so far. How and where did you find your pages? How did you get started?

Teresa, I'm by no means an expert and I know there are many different ways to go about it, but here's how I understand it with the Creative Memories software. You make your pages on your computer, as many as you want you can just use the basic software and have many options or you can purchase more backgrounds and "stickers" etc... Then once the pages are made on your computer, you can print them on your printer if you have the capablity or send them via interent to Creative Memories ($8 a page), Costco (much cheaper at $3 a page) or elsewhere, they print the entire page and you insert it into your scrapbook. I hope that helps.
Something else about digital scrapping...a lot of BOYS are starting to do it IF they are told that it is "graphic design". I think scrapbooking is great for kids, it gets them involved in the process and gives them something creative to do. It's also fun to get THEIR perspective (12yo did a page with peanut butter playdough creations from the Coral Reef and CRT with the caption: "we will miss you " ) They can work on it on the laptop in the car with no mess!

Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.

Thank you. My MIL bought me a scrapbook program called Memory Mixer for Christmas last year and that is what I am using. The program has different "papers" and various embellishments to add to the pages, plus I have downloaded TONS of freebies from the internet that I use. (Honestly, it's almost gotten to be an addiction with me! With money tight these days, it's how I curb my shopping urges...I look for digi-scrapping freebies online! LOL!) Before I got started, I bought a couple of kits from a person on ebay, which I think are mostly scans of real papers and Disney elements. I have found a few Disney freebie kits online of items that the artist made for themselves (mostly the Mickey silhouette in various forms, collections of papers that seem Disney-ish, etc.)
So, basically, I look at the pictures I want to use for my layout, then look through the file with the different background papers to find something that seems to coordinate. The program has some suggestion layouts for the pictures or you can make up your own. You can also modify the program's layouts -- so if it has three slots for photos and you need more, you can add another one, or take one away if you need fewer, etc. Then I just play with the various embellishments until the page looks right to me. The program will also add effects to the photo -- make it sepia or black and white, make it look like a sketch or impressionist painting, etc. I haven't played with that much, except to make things black and white or sepia.
Or, if you prefer, the program also has ready-made pages (they call them Quick Mix pages) and you can just plug your pictures into those.
I also use the free photo editing software GIMP to edit my photos...I used to have Photoshop, but my old computer died and we've lost the original Photoshop discs when we moved, so it's an okay substitute. I use that when I want to cut the background out from the picture or something along those lines.
I also subscribe to several e-newsletters to get ideas for my layouts. My favorite is one by ScrapGirls.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can answer any more questions! And thanks again for all the compliments!!

I am starting to learn digital scrapbooking. I am using Photoshop Elements. I became interested after putting a couple books together on Shutterfly. The books turned out really well, but I wanted more flexibility. So far I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! digital scrapbooking. It's so much easier to show off my hard work to people. It's so easy to e-mail pages, and I can have as many copies of a page/scrapbook printed as I want. While there are tons of freebies on the internet, there are also tons of kits that can be purchased that aren't horribly expensive. And you can use the papers, elements, etc. over and over again. It is addicting!!
Gals, I love reading all your posts about Digital Scrapbooking. I am a CM Consultant in NY and I am so in love with our StoryBook Creator 2.0 Software - it is the best out there!! We even have a Disney Content Download available for those Disney Vacation Albums. I would love to see other people's ideas with the software with Disney ideas as my last trip is done in traditional CM albums and we are going in Jan. 09 and will be going digital and always love to see others creative ideas on how to design pages.
I am just starting to look in to digital software. I am thinking of getting some CM software but want something easy to understand and makes it easy to add on to with the freebies and ebay stuff! Can you explain which one you would recommend!

You can either purchase the CM program directly from a CM consultant, or you can order it directly online and download it from the website. You still have to have a consultant ID number on your order so someone gets credit for it. I have had several of my customers order it this way and therefore they can start working with it right away.
I'm not sure how to pick up another quote - so to answer the question about is it books or pages. It can be either. Some people print individual pages and insert the into albums, or you can print an entire bound book.
I have printed the 12 X 12 pages at Costco. (or directly with CM, but with the shipping this was more expensive). I'm sure there are other places to do so.
I do some of each. Most of the time I like working with actual paper, but there is unlimited possibilities with the digital that I love.
This is my new Hobby!
I went with the Polaroid My Memories Suite. I love the flexibility since I want to design my own pages (Minnie page, Pluto Page, etc) I also want to imitate the layouts Disney uses in their photopass so by having this option I can design all I want!
also once done with my scrapbook, I wanted to add music and Play it in the TV as a Slide show, make gifts for others etc. so to me that was important.
10 reasons why My Memories Suite would be the perfect scrapbook solution for you. 1. Easy. No training and no experience necessary. 2. Fast. Pre-designed templates that let you “FastFill” an album in seconds. 3. Options. Print a page, publish a book, burn an interactive CD or DVD, send to a personal multimedia device, create a greeting card. 4. Multimedia. Add video, music, narration, weblinks and hyperlinks. 5. Variety of Content. Choose from professionally designed templates or create your own with hundreds of backgrounds and embellishments. 6. Time-saver. Build one “master album” with photos and all multimedia, then decide what output to choose. 7. Cross-platform. Mac or PC. 8. Cost Effective. Less expensive than traditional scrapbooking. 9. Multiple Copies. Print or burn multiple copies to share. 10. No Mess! Compare to the sticky mess of traditional scrapbooking—all you do is “save” and turn off your computer

Ok, that sounds pretty cool. I'm going to look into that this week.
