As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Splash Mountain is a great ride, very cute and pretty tame with just 1 big drop. Soarin' is amazing....you definately don't want to miss it! Test Track is also a lot of fun, kinda like being in a really fast car! I would also try the light version of MS!

Im the biggest baby in the world and wont ride roller coasters, but I will ride Splash Mountain and Test Track. Of these two, Test Track scares me the least. I hate those big drops like in Splash Mountain. I will ride them though and have fun. I am so proud of myself for "being brave" and riding them, and my kids are laughing at me cause I look so terrified while Im riding them! I actually enjoy Test Track!
I agree with everyone else - splash and Test track should be fine. The green version of Mission Space is also quite tame. I tried it for the first time in May. I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was since I can't tolerate "spinny" rides. Good luck!
My son has a fear of heights and he loves Splash Mountain (hurray). Test track, as some here have suggest, is NOT tame - sorry. I liked it but it was certainly the fastest ride at Disney and not for the faint of heart IMHO.
Splash Mountain is the only one you listed that gets my vote. It's the longest one going (almost 10 minutes) and it's very enjoyable. The only bumping might be at the very end where people get on and get off and that's only if there's a lot of logs piling up. Truthfully, I don't like Test Track and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It may be tame, but it's far from smooth IMO. Tower of Terror - if you like being dropped with only a seat belt (whatever happened to the lap bars?) holding you in, then try it, but I don't like it (especially since the lap bars which I held onto are gone.) Space Mountain and Rock n Roller Coaster are both in the dark and I find if I can't brace myself for the turns and things I wind up with a sore back or neck from being whipped about. Mission Space I have not and will not go on. Too many people have either gotten sick or worse from this ride (bad decision Disney!) so therefore I don't even go near it.
So I decided that I will try Splash Mountain. I think I never did this ride cause from outside the drop looks HUGE! If I just close my eyes then I should be ok...It's not a drop like straight down is it? I think I can handle more of one that is slanted to where I can see the bottom in case I do open my eyes. Test Track scares me honestly cause I have a great fear of crashing while in a speeding car. Sounds like I should not try this ride.
Not at all. It is sloped. Trying to picture it in my mind, I guess from watching it standing on that bridge you can't really tell how much it's sloped. And yes, closing your eyes will help. My hubby does it too as he doesn't like the drop.
Does the drop seem bigger from looking at it then it is from actually being on the ride?
According to Lenny, my hubby, it looks huge looking at it while not on the ride. Like I said, Lenny closes his eyes before he gets to it so I'm not sure what he thinks about it while on the ride. I like the drop so I can't judge if it would look big while on it or not.

Are there any other drops in the ride that I need to be aware of. I like the drop in POTC, but I am guessing that is a little tame.
There are a couple of other drops but they really are small - smaller than Pirates I want to say - but they are very smooth.
I have to say that I think Splash Mt. is a pretty big deal. The 2 or 3 small drops feel bigger to me than POTC, and I spend the whole ride frozen in fright for that final drop. I know the theming is great, but I always miss it because I'm so terrified...Just a word of caution!
I would vote for Splash Mountain. The actual ride is smooth and enjoyable along with all of the music and theming. The end drop is exciting, but not horrifying. To me, Big Thunder is wilder and rougher than Splash, so if you've done that you will probably enjoy Splash. Have a magical trip!!!
Splash Mountain's drop looks scary but you go down slow so I don't get that feeling in the pit of my stomach like TOT or EE. I think you'll enjoy it.
Also, it you can handle Dinosaur's bumps you can handle TT, no problem. In fact, you can probably handle more than you think. Dinosaur gets pretty wild.
IMHO, Barnstormer and Space Mountain are two bumpy uncomfortable rides that you should avoid.
