As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
Yes, those pictures are another source of laughter for our family too. We bought one from Dinosaur. I have my head down in my lap and I'm covering my head and DD's head with my hands like I'm protecting us from falling debris. It was actually when the T-Rex comes out at you. Needless to say I was scared to death. It's pretty funny.

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
DD had just turned two and was still not quite sure about getting close to the characters. We were in line at the character greeting trails at AK. DD and DS were playing in the flora so DD was not paying much attention to anything in particular. As we got to the front of the line for Mickey and Minnie she noticed both of them. She slapped both hands on her cheeks, made a Shirley Temple surprise face and yelled at the top of her little lungs, "Holy moly! Two of 'em!" DW and I were ROTF. I wish I had the camcorder going.

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
This is a great topic. Mine occurred when I got a blister on the back of my heel on our second day going to MK. I had taken some mole skin down with us to put on my feet because I am prone to blisters. As we were leaving our room to catch the bus my husband yells back to me from down the hall, "Did you remember to put those mouse pads on your feet?" My DD and I were laughing all the way to the MK. To this day he can't remember mole skin, but mouse pads bring a great big grin.

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
Mine came when taping my sons at the end of our last trip.
I asked them both to recreate my mother's performance when she was stuck on Test Track. I still laugh alot everytime I watch the tape - they got it down pretty good. "Let me out of here. I'll KILL you Scott!"

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
Our family made up dirty names for the dwarves while standing in line for Snow White's Adventures and while riding it, belly hee hawing all the way! I CANNOT write them here. I guess I can say we came up with Snow White Trash and her wife-beatin' Prince. All four of us "larger adults" were beating ourselves laughing when we got off the ride and people would turn around and looook at us...

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
One of the funniest moments on a Disney trip was my very first trip in 1980 & it too involves Snow Whites Scary Adventure ( but yours sounds funnier buzznwoodyfan! )...
My Mom, Me, grandmother, uncle, his wife & his 3 kids made a family trip to WDW & while on Snow Whites adventure (BEFORE they tamed it) my (then) 9 &7YO cousins were in one car, my Mom & Aunt in the car behind us & every time the witch popped out my cousins & I would let out a blood curling scream which would be immediately folowed by my Mom & Aunt screaming... After the ride we asked them why they screamed right after us when the witch hadn't even popped out at them yet & they replied "We knew it was coming"
Another thing we laugh about now is the time my DD was sick & threw up all over me & the gentleman sitting next to me on the bus going to DD... The bus driver made us get off the bus at Typhoon Lagoon to go back to POR...& there I was standing there waiting for a bus with french fries ( & other yuvkies) covering my shirt... we didn't laugh then but it is funny now!

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
Steve,
Just have Susan beat 2 sticks together to rid the wildlife away from the WL.
One of my favorites is when Samantha ? at the Adventures Club got DH up on stage. She was asking about how we met and how DH asked me to marry him. She was rolling when my DH told her he proposed to me in McDonald's. DH explained that he spend all his money getting my ring out of layaway and he couldn't afford to take me any other place and he couldn't wait to ask me. (The proposal was unique and I wouldn't change for the world) Anyways, we left that night and on the ride back to the hotel there was only 2 other couples on the bus. They were also at the Adventures Club and saw Marvin's show. After conversation we figure out that we all live within 25 miles of each other in Missouri. Isn't that funny? That morning we were checking out of our hotel and this lady starts screaming my DH name in a very crowded lobby. Look, there's Marvin! Marvin, It's Marvin. Let me tell you, if my DH meets you once, he knows you for life and you are a "good buddy" of his. So I'm thinking he knows this person, he knows everyone, but after looking at me with a I have know clue look, I realize he doesn't. DH & I looked at her - what the heck. She proceeds to tell us how funny Marvin was at the Club the night before.

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
Disneyknut: I was literally belly laughing when I read your bus story. We had a similar experience involving an RV, a folded down bed, about 4 kids in it, hair, sheets and vomit. I guess its because our family could relate to your story.

One time I was using my grandmother's video camera while on Jungle Cruise. The host on the boat kept making hilarious comments on the tape, like he was on a show. One was...

One of mine happened when the animatronic boy's hand in the Carousel of Progress show fell off during the last scene.
Another seems to occur during the incredible Bean impression of a bee during the Muppet Vision 3D show.

Re: Your biggest laugh at WDW
I have one involving the pesky Love Bugs. Our Drink cups next too our Lounge chairs were covered with them. We had left them unattened for an hour. There was no one around our chairs or side of the pool so I banged the cups on the cement to get them off the cups. When I stood up to go wash them inside, I was greeted by the sight of this totally unsuspecting Sunbather 40 yds away from me twisting & turning & trying desperatly to ward off the 200 plus Love Bugs I apparently sent her way. I really did not mean for it to happen, but it did not keep me from almost falling over laughing & wetting Myself. I can still see her now, like a crazy person tring to get these off her self. She had no Idea where they came from I am sure. I still chuckle now as I think of it.
