I definitely was NOT at Disney (Long rant) r - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We don't do Six Flags anymore. Our last trip there was years ago and we waited around 45 minutes to an hour for every ride. Kind of a wasted day to only ride three rides the entire time.
Sorry you had such a bad experience. When we were stationed in San Antonio, Six Flags was right down the road. It was terrible, so is the one in Kentucky. So disappointing. Sending pixies your way to make you smile.
We also have never gone back after taking the kids to Disney. There is no comparison. I would be pretty irritated too if I were you. However, now that you have your passes, I hope your next experience is better. You'll get to attend the concerts, go during the week, and spend fun time with your daughter. Hopefully you will get your money's worth with the season passes.
I have never been a fan of 6 flags. I always laugh when I here them refered to as a Theme Park (the ads for 6 Flags Great Adventure even claim to be the Northeast's Disney!) as I have never seen a Theme to any of their attractions!
The other thing that I have noticed is that even on weekdays when the crowds are light you have long lines, because they understaff, and don't run the rides at full capacity, so that they still end up having long waits. I hope that is not true where you are, but it sure is here at Great Adventure! After all they have to have a reason to charge for their front of the line gadget.
Supposedly, the Flash Pass gadgets are only available on certain days so they aren't always available. However, again, they are available only to season pass holders also. I knew went I bought the passes that it was not going to be anything like Disney. I guess I just didn't realize EXACTLY how different it was. There was "theming" in only 2 of the rides we went on. One was Tony Hawk's Big Spin and I actually enjoyed the pre-ride stuff. The other was for Bugs Bunny's White Water Rapids and that one just brought back memories of sitting on the living room floor with a bowl of cereal and watching Bugs and Yosemite Sam battling over the singing sword. The last time I visited the closest Six Flaggs to us (ST. Louis area) was after our first trip to Disney in 2006. I agree with you that it no way compares to Disney! Talk about filthy and the people were just rude! One of the first things I noticed while walking around was how badly it smelled! The trash cans were overflowing and it smelled like vomit on more than one occasion. We had extremely long waits and didn't enjoy many of the rides at all. The food was not all that great either and very expensive. Just to get a soda to cool off it was a few bucks! We swore that we would never go back even if it was a few years in between our trips to Disneyworld. Funny that when I was growing up in the St. Louis area we had season passes and went all summer long, but now after I have tasted the greatness of WDW I can't stand Six Flaggs anymore! There definitely is a difference with the park and the staff. We are lucky to live only a couple of ours from Santa Clause, Indiana where Holiday World is located. It's not Disneyworld, but it is a clean park and the people are a bit nicer than Six Flaggs and they give free sodas and sunscreen! It's what we do in between our WDW trips. Hope your trips this summer are better, but I hope more that you can make it back to WDW cause I know that's where your heart is!
Sorry you had such a rough time! Our closest theme park is Carowinds in Charlotte, NC (I think it's owned by Kings Dominion, too). I went as a chaperone for a school group a couple of years ago (not my kids, but my sister was the teacher). I had been several times as a kid, but was sure that now that I was an adult, the Disney comparison, or lack therof, would be blindlingly clear. Surprisingly, we had a good time, and I was pleased with the cleanliness/day/staff --- but no, it's not Disney. :
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.

I went to Carowinds multiple times growing up. (I grew up in Simpsonville, SC until I was 11.) I even have a newspaper clipping of me at 5 watching Donny and Marie at Carowinds. We mainly went for the concerts. I saw Donie and Marie, Captain and Tenille (my brother's choice) and the Temptations. I know there were others, but those are the only ones that come to mind.
Sorry that your day did not turn out as you would have liked...I gave up on the Six Flag parks a long time ago...
But at least you will get to some cool concerts so that will balance out the cost and your DD will be happy...hoepfully some day trips during the week will make the lines much easier to get through.
Sounds like my experience at Cedar Point in 2006. I will NEVER go back to that park...EVER! Sorry you had such troubles. I hope you have better luck next time.

Sorry to hear that you had a less than great experience. I have come to the conclusion that no place is like WDW, so I can't even compare anywhere else to WDW. I hope that if you go back over the summer that you will have a better time. WDW will still be waiting for you when you have the chance to go back.
So sorry about the trip. I can take a whole lot, but there is no call for being rude. You took the high road. I agree that a nicely worded letter to management would be appropriate. Good luck
So sorry. I actually only live 15 min. from the SF in MA. The traffic is a nightmare. Guests are just rude, park filthy even though the cm's are wearing shirts that talk about not littering because their family comes too (whooptie doo), line jumpers are horrible.
DD earned her own season pass for SF this year by selling over 500 girl scout cookies but she probably wont use it more than a dozen times if that because none of the rest of us are getting SP's. Since we are going to Disney in August. My GF gets SP's every year so she will take DD with her occasionally when she goes. I just wish I could get DD more cookie credits instead of the SP.
