As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

DD #1 was going to be James Patrick (Jimmy) after DH and her paternal grandfather, DD#2 & DD#3 were going to be John Francis (called Jack) after my DH's Uncle (who was like a second father to DH), DD#4 was going to be James Francis (Jimmy) after my DH (first name) and DF (middle name) while I was pregnant with DD#3 DH's Uncle Jack died and then between the birth of DD#3 and DD#4 my DH's cousin (Jack's DD) had a son and named him Jack so we went back to our original name for DD#4. We pretty much picked the girl names right away with no argument. DH wanted Stephanie for our oldest DD but I won with Erin We did have a couple choices for Shannon (DD#2) I think Megan was one but Shannon won out pretty quickly. We chose between Katie & Kelly for DD#3 (Katie won) and DH had Molly picked out long before I got pregnant with her (just in case ). I was going to be Joseph Anthony if I was a boy after my Uncle who had always wanted a son. That's my brother's name (he's 2 years younger). My parents briefly thought about naming me Marion or Anastasia instead of just Stacey

Our first DS is Frank Robert (after my DH and Dbil who passed away before he was born) we knew is was going to be a boy but I had Alssya Ashley picked out for a girls name. Our second DS is Christopher Anthony, again Alssya Ashley was out there in case he was a girl. I had wanted to name him Dominick James but my DH was dead set against it, now looking at him he could be nothing else but Christopher. If we have a third I told my DH if its a boy he is going to be Dominick no matter what and a girl Alssya Ashley (I have loved that name forever, hopefully I will get to use it someday).
DD would have been Thomas MacKenzie
DS would have been Kristin (and I forget the middle name)
In both cases, we were very happy to have the opposite, as we love their actual names way better than their "almost" names.
My parents named me Suzanne (after a friend Susan and my mom's middle name Ann) with no middle name, but had I been a boy, I would have been Christopher. My sister (18 months younger) is Robin and would have been even if she'd been a boy. My parents would have had Christopher/Robin.

If Alexa was a boy, she was going to be Nolan. Not sure if I like that now or not. If Colin was a girl, I think he was going to be Aleen, or Abigail. Honestly I can't remember, other than it was an "A" name
We had names we liked, but didn't make a final decision until after we met out kids and let them tell us who they were. No, they're not adopted from childhood, they are all "natural" children - although I don't like that way of explaining. Adopted kids are natural also!!
Thank you! Someone asked me if Ryan was my "natural" child once and I said, "Well, he's not a robot or an alien so...yes!"
Had Ryan been a girl, he would have been Meaghan Anne. Ryan was really the only boy's name we both loved. Apparently, I was supposed to be Julie until I was born in a rather "drama queen" fashion (breech and backwards, emergency c-section) and my mother named me Sara after the actress Sarah Bernhardt. Little did she know...
If I had been a boy (which everyone was sure I was going to be), I would have been Marc. I don't know about any of my siblings, except my oldest sister: my grandpa's name is (was) Donald Lee, and if my mother would have had a boy, he was going to be Donald Lee as well. It was a girl, so she is Donna Leigh.
I know that my niece Maeve was supposed to be Ava Grace right up to the eleventh hour, when Krista pulled the "I'm in labor, I'm gonna name her what I dang well please" and they went with the name Krista really had her heart set on, but her hubby wasn't crazy about: Maeve Elise. Now that we "know" Maeve, I'm glad Grace isn't her middle name.
When we got Quincy, our Pekingese, Mama really wanted to name him Egg Roll. She had had two Pekingeses years ago, and one was Wonton and the other PuPu (after the PuPu platter ). Dad doesn't like Chinese food, though, so he vetoed Egg Roll (and my suggestion of General Tso ). They went with Quincy, although said later that they could have done Bamboo - it's Chinese and not a food.
I was going to be George if I'd been a boy. Something about a hymnwriter relative of my dad's. Phew!
Lauren's "working name" was Joey -- when I went for my L3 ultrasound she was moving a lot and the amnio took forever because she kept wiggling so the nurse joked we weren't having a baby but a kangaroo. Since Rick's Grandfather was Joseph, the name worked. And we were convinced we were going to have a boy (we made the Dr promise not to give us the amnio results).
When I went into the hospital we hadn't even settled on a girls name -- I wanted Caitlin and Rick wanted Lauren. After she was born he looked at her and said "I really think she looks like a Lauren." I was too tired to care, but exercised my right to pick her middle name.
And now that she's 8 he's so right. I look at her and think that Caitlin just wouldn't fit. I still love Chelsea for a girl, but BIL/SIL already had a Kelsey. And I liked Sarah or Katherine but the other BIL/SIL "informed" us that it was their choice for a girl and we "couldn't use it"
The cat arrived "used" from a friend and prenamed -- though Ebony was the obvious choice and it fit. We've often discussed what we will name our next cat, but I think we'll have to meet it first. Who was it that said all cats have names -- us humans just have to figure them out.

DD16, Kerryn would of been Nicholas Lee after Jack Nicholas & Lee Trevino. Thank goodness she was a girl. My DH is a big golfer. Although she hates having to spell her name to everyone and can't find her name on anything. DD13, Michelle would of been Brock if she was a boy. Now I don't know what I was thinking with that name. (Sorry, if there are any Brock's out there!!)

I was thisclose to being a Stacy. But my Dad changed it just a little before I was born, so I'm Donna.
Drew (Andrew Daniel) would have been Kirstin (pronounced the Norwegian way kyir-sten) Ashley because DH's family is Norwegian. I'm glad we didn't have to use it though because it would've been a pain correcting everybody's pronunciation of it. Daniel is DH's name.
Paige Kimblerly - I wanted her name to be Lauren because it's a variation of my maiden name and it's a tradition in my family to use the Mom's maiden name as a middle name, but DH would have none of that. If she'd have been a boy, we kicked around using my Grandpa's name, Hunter. But we were positive she was a girl, so we didn't really worry about boy's names much with her.
My eldest was going to be Sarah Elizabeth, but I took one look at her when she was born and was sure she didn't look like a Sarah (expected her to have blond hair), so we named her Elizabeth and came up with Anne for her middle name as we walked up to check out of the hospital.

I didn't find out the sex before they were born so for Luke Joseph it was that or Margaux Grace, and for Brooke Elizabeth (I was positive she was going to be a he because my pregnancies were identical) she would have been Jack Francis.
My oldest DD dad wanted to name her Carolyn Elizabeth, our last name had 11 letters in it also. I said, the kid will be spelling her name for 5 minutes. She ended up being Holly Rita, and she truly is a Holly and her middle name is for my Grams who passed away just before she was born. If she had been a boy she was going to be Richard James for our dads. DD#2 I liked Sabrina, she ended up being Jodi and it is perfect for her. DS is a Jr which I hate, but his dad insisted.
My DD became Meryl as it was the only name me and DH could agree om. I`ve a sister named Meryl - so it wasn`t a hard name to find. She hasn`t got a second name as again we couldn`t agree, I liked Carmen. When she was born she looked like a Helen, though we stuck with Meryl.
Fortunately DD named the cat, otherwise she`d still be called cat!
