As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. We lost two of our very cool mickey and minnie magnets on our cruise.
I've learned a lesson-no more cool magnets for my door!!
I had my kids draw directly on the magnetic paper for a very "homemade" look. Not for everyone, I'm sure. There is so much you can do from a computor. The options....endless!!
I scrapbook, so I made 12x12 page layouts for each day of the cruise. I actually brought along my little photo printer and would print photos from the day and put them on the pages. I kept 2 or 3 layouts on my door the whole time. Everyone commented on them and we'd even find crew members stopping and enjoying them from time to time. I didn't have any qualms about putting our photos on them and it sure made it easy for DDs to find our stateroom, plus I had 16 pages done for my scrapbook when we got home!
We saw a fun one on our cruise. it was the travelocity traveling gnome and it said he wanted to roam. I can't remember exactly what it said but the gist of it was to tak ehim and move him to a new door to see how far he could roam during the cruise. We took him down the hall to our door and the next day we heard a little girl in the hallway say " someone finally took him, it worked". It was really cute. The gnome disappeared a few hours later.

We saw a fun one on our cruise. it was the travelocity traveling gnome and it said he wanted to roam. I can't remember exactly what it said but the gist of it was to tak ehim and move him to a new door to see how far he could roam during the cruise. We took him down the hall to our door and the next day we heard a little girl in the hallway say " someone finally took him, it worked". It was really cute. The gnome disappeared a few hours later.

I didn't use personal photos for our signs, instead I used Disney characters and lots of Disney clip art. To try and keep our signs from getting taken, I put our stateroom number on all of them, even the Mickey Head paint chips. I had also created most of them, except the paint chips, on my computer so I had a saved copy. Thankfully, we didn't lose any of them.
Staples and other office supply stores carry 8 1/2 X 11 magnet paper to print your work out on as well. We just rtnd from our 2/16 DCL and didn't loose any of our magnets (on my favorites I put our stateroom # in a very small font). My daughter had a great time changing them around. We had a pirate theme day, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Fab five day.
It is a great family project and it made it is for our DD to locate our room easily.
When we took our first Disney cruise last September, I had a blast decorating our stateroom door. I did tons of magnets (thinking that they might disappear) plus never quite deciding how I wanted to decorate when I got there. On the backs of each magnet with sticker paper...I made a stitch NAUGHTY sign that says please take me back to my OHANA at room # and it had our stateroom number on it. That way in case they did disappear. But fortunately none ever did.
I had so much fun doing those that I also made about 100 small magnets of stitch with his ray gun that said "YOU HAVE BEEN TAGGED" and in smaller letters it said...You may keep this magnet or pass them on, your choice. And Hubby and I had a blast going around to different stateroom doors and placing them around on select room doors. We placed them on our neighbors door and heard the excitement when they returned and how they liked it...(never knowing it was us that did it LOL) We really liked adding them to rooms that were already decorated and I believe that on our next cruises we will do the same
We got so carried away with Magnets that we even made enough for the inside doors (bathrooms and inside door) for our pleasure and enjoyment. I did switch up a few of the magnets for Pirate night and added some lovely pirate Mickey ones.

What a great idea! I love it. I also like your idea for making the "tag" magnets. Also I'm glad to hear you made so many signs. Now I feel better about the ridiculous amount of signs I made. What can I say, fooling around in photoshop is too much fun!
I am glad that I am not the only over indulgent magnet maker Yea I was so happy for our cruise that I had to do something to make every door a little happier with the tag magnets...It was so much fun selecting doors to place them on as well My hubby at first was asking me..."Are you sure we are not going to get in trouble for this" and I just laughed because I said...Honey I think that this is going to be fun for us as well as others getting the surprise magnets. And after hearing the neighbors come back to their room and excitedly talk about their magnet...he was taking my magnet stash and placing them on more stateroom doors and proudly announcing to me that he had fun doing it as well I will know to make more next time since he took over half of my stash and placed them around without me

Love the idea of putting magnets on other guest's doors - Kind of spreading the magic a little bit!!
But something that caught my attention - do people seriously take decorations from other stateroom doors??? That just seems so un-Disney-like to me!!!! Well, I guess if you just plan your decorations accordingly (iet being upset if they vanish), you can just look at it as "spreading the magic."

We have purchase 12" x 12" foam puzzles from our local dollar store. There are nine pieces to each puzzle and there are a variety of themes - CARS, Princesses, Mickey and the gang, Tink. We plan to "magentize" each piece of the puzzle and then "tag" them around the ship. Maybe the puzzles will even come back together somewhere. We are on the Dec 18th sailing and our rooms are near the elevators/stairs, so we are prepared for our door magnets to go "on tour" around the ship.
I was wondering if the decorations would get messed with. I'd like to do something for our door to show it's our first cruise and our 5th anniversary. I LOVE the idea of spreading the magic with the magnets and the roaming gnome story was too cute!!!
