As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). lol try being a steelers fan in Patriots country Yup, I am a Steelers fan and Penguins fan. Though I do follow the Red Sox and will follow the bruins as long as they are not playing the Pens.
I went to see the WBS Pens play against the Lowell Devils today and Pens won 3-2 WoooHooo.
I'm a Cowboys fan, so I'm still mad at the Giants. I'm also a Michigan fan(Go Blue!), so I have a soft spot in my heart for Brady. GO PATS!!!! And yes, I think they'll win, in fact I don't think it will be as close as the regular season finale.

I live in the "border" state of CT, and the population in my neck of the woods is pretty evenly split between rooting for NY and Boston teams. That being said, I have always disliked the NY teams (read Giants and Yankees) and prefered the Pats and the Sox. I would LOVE to see New England go undefeated.

Okay - Our local grocery store has 2 floor to ceiling blow-up Patriot football players hanging out in the produce section. My darling 4 year old son has taken to saying "We don't like the Patriots, right Mommy?" as we roll by - thanks to my dear husband's influence (who is an Oakland Raider fan - imagine what I live with). And, of course, I promote good sportsmanship to my son and daughters AND to my husband. BUT...as long as the Raiders aren't playing the Giants - we always scream holler and whoop it up for THE GIANTS! What a great game Sunday!

Who I think is gooing to win and who I want to win are two differnt stories. I would like to see the Giants win but I think it's gonna be the Patriots. Hope the game is as good as the regular season game between the two was. I just don't want a blow out.

My Dad is a Giants fan always and forever. He was a fan back when they had never been to the Super Bowl and fans used to wear bags over their heads to the games so that no one would recognize them! I'd like to see them beat the Pats, but I think it's kind of that the Pats have gone undefeated this long. Plus, my landlady's fiance is from Boston and a Pats fan. So, I'm torn.

I am sick of seeing New England win everything lately (Superbowls, World Series it makes me want to throw up I am so over the whole we didn't win for 80 something years thing - give someone else a chance for goodness sake - yes it's just jealousy rearing it's ugly head so I think I have to think about this for a while.
I find when people say stuff like that it's sort of funny (sort of ). Here's the thing... For 80 some-odd years the Sox have only won the Series twice and two teams won in between. The Pats have only just been good this century. That's right. This CENTURY. People tend to forget we SUCKED from 1959 to 2001. And we were blown out of our first two Super Bowls .
Now the Celts on the other hand were good for a long time and then went in the toilet until this year and the Bruins have had moderate success (with two Cups in the 70s) until the ownership badly played the strike and now they're playing catchup with everyone else.
Of course, I think the media hypes all this stuff way out of proportion and really, do we need a week of hype before the game?

As a member of the DAR I've always felt a moral obligation to cheer for the Patriots. And DD was born in CT.... But I was raised a Browns fan and there aren't words to describe how much I dislike Bill Belichick.
So much as I think the Patriots will win, I'll be rooting for the Giants.
