As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have a lot. I don't mind the feel of terracotta but the sound/feel of it rubbing together - ew, I get chills thinking about it. Also, styrofoam squeaking, grinding teeth (whoever thought up that commercial with the griding teeth should be shot), and I can't stand to write on a chalk board. Ugh, more chills! The feel of bagged sand on my feet - like the stuff they put in sand volleyball courts. It's fine until you leave and there is this fine powder everywhere and it's gross. Not like beach sand at all. : I also don't like the feel of a spoon inside a coffee cup that's not glazed or shiny. Arrgg!

I hate it when people crease paper with their fingernails - in fact, my skin is crawling just thinking about it! And fingernails being filed is another biggie, too.
As for things I don't like to touch - wet tissues (kleenex). Like if you were to grab one to quickly wipe up a little spill....ick.

Chalk dust gives me the willies. Popsicle sticks make me wince. The smell of playdoh makes me gag. Overripe bananas...let's just say they do not set well with me...
I am SOO happy right now. I am not nearly as freaky as I thought I was!
I detest many of the things listed above, but the one that gets me the most is just loud noise. It could be the kids shrieking (doesn't matter if it's happy or upset), whining, high pitched non-stop talking, giggling, etc.
Music is NOT noise. I love to listen to music.
Chewing sounds have also been annoying me recently. I think I have supersensitive ears. I guess it's a blessing and a curse. I can hear my kids roll over in bed at night (no one will be sneaking out of THIS house!) and also hear wheezy breathing that is like that water torture - drip, drip, drip,- wheez, wheez, wheez...
All of a sudden my nails seem to scrape on everything, and it's driving me nuts. And my DD11's eating sounds. She's really not bad, but that's something that's bothered me since I was a kid, and the sounds my Mom made (and makes) -- now that I think about it, they must have the same sound; literally if I was uncontrolled and there were no laws or constraints on behavior when I was a kid, I probably would have throttled my Mom, it drove me that nuts! I'd leave the table, or hum to drown out the sound. Maybe that's why I like watching TV while we eat now?
My DD21 used to not be able to stand the noise of a knife on a plate. I'll have to ask her if it still bothers her!
Okay, now I know I'm the freak. I hate touching oily things. I don't even like to put lotion on my hands. The feel of it makes me want to rush to the bathroom to wash my hands. I almost can't stand that part of a manicure.
What's worse than that is that the oily issue extends to foods. I've developed an extreme dislike for french fries. Also popcorn and potato chips - which I love to eat - I can't touch with my hands. I put them on a paper plate and touch my tongue to them to pick them up when I just have to have popcorn or chips. I can't eat popcorn in a theater. I rarely eat it anyway because of my issue with the smell of it being so similar to breastmilk baby poop.

I cannot stand the feel or sound of styrofoam rubbing together Christmas morning is torture for me with all the toys being packed in styrofoam :shudder: I have to make DH remove all toys from styrofoam. I also can't stand the sound of someone slurping their dinner. I can't sit at the table while DH eats cereal and I have stopped making spaghetti when he is going to be home for that reason, I am getting a little nauseous thinking about it.

The fork on the teeth thing, it makes this horrid almost acid taste in my mouth and my ears ring. The sound of a straw moving up and down in the lid, slimey foods, the public warning sound on the radio is at a pitch that is painful to me. I cant hear the nails on the board but the emergency sound freaks me out.
I have 2 toes that I HATE to feel the nail ladies using cotton balls to take the old paint off. For reasons unknown these 2 nails (one on each foot) the nail bed itself is very very sensitive.

Raw chicken! I won't touch it with my hands. I will it up with a fork or a pair of tongs or whatever is handy. But never never never bare hands. Me, one of the best cooks (not just my opinion) almost failed cooking class in Junior High because I wouldn't touch raw chicken making Chicken & Dumplings. I almost passed out.
. . .Also I can't stand feedback from a microphone. Makes me grind my teeth.
, Plus my mother clacking her false teeth. They don't fit extremely well, and she just seems to rattle them around. She hates to have them out of her mouth, so she will worry a small piece of whatever around her mouth, then spit it out on the plate after dinner. I just remind myself that, at 95, she's entitled to whatever she wants to do. Fortunately she doesn't do the spitting thing when we are out for meals. But it is definitely one of the things that grosses me out!

I can't stand fingernails down the chalkboard.....makes me want to scream.
Another thing I can't stand is when people are drinking thru a straw and the cup is empty....they keep slurping away like there's one minute drop left on the bottom of the cup.......I always want to grab the cup out of their hands and throw it across the room!!
I also can't stand to see people chew ice cream.....or rake their fork across their teeth!! EWWW!
Another thing I can't stand is hearing grown adults smack their lips while eating......BIG pet peeve of mine!
