As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

It is WELL worth the price of admission if you are referring to the Space Center! We like to get the tickets in advance as then you can just access the shorter line for morning admission and get right to the bus tour-which is a real must. Belive it or not, you can get some terrific photos while actually ON the bus and great ones at the stops. The bus takes you to areas that you can't get to by yourself and is worth the time and cost. I really didn't want to go and spend "time away from WDW" but fell in love with the Space Center. Make sure to save some time to visit the Astronaut's Memorial, as it is very touching, and hit the BIG store last thing as you can spend a lot of time and $$ in that store (their sale racks offer some major deals!). It was wonderful. We went when our DS was about 5, and he LOVED it... one of our favorite pictures (which we didn't set up, but noticed when we got back our photos) is him playing with his new space shuttle toy sitting in front of a model inside. It was way cool.
Even though he wasn't feeling the best (we were on a Make-A-Wish trip), he absolutely LOVED the tour and the place as a whole. It's a definate must do!
OK, Dad & I went on Saturday and had a great time. I did not buy tickets in advance, but we did not have to wait in line - walked right up to a window & presented a coupon for $5 off admission. We got there around 9:30a (their hours were 9a-6p) and Dad stopped for a snack before we headed for the inluded tour (there are 2 other tours that looked great but cost extra). It was a beautiful day - first we went to the gantry area where you could see both shuttle launch pads. Then we went to the Apollo/SaturnV rocket Center (boy, that thing is huge!). We then went to the space station "lab" (I forget what it is actually called). this is a working place, but no one was working Saturday. After the tour we had lunch (lots of places to get food everywhere we went) and saw one of the 2 IMAX movies included with admission. We left around 3:30 as we were bushed. I plan to go back when the weather gets cooler and take one of those other tours and see some more stuff. We did not get to the Hall of Fame, so I definately need to make another trip!

Geez, I almost forgot about the shuttle launch experience - that was awesome! We had to stowe my handbag in a locker (which they provide) and we basically walked on the ride. It is similar to "Star Tours" in size (holds 30 or so people) and similar to "Mission: Space" in the fact that you feel the g-forces. You don't spin but you do shake, and the pins were starting to fall out from my bun, so I sat there with my hand on my head, trying to hold them in (lol). It was a really neat experience.
If you can do a day at KSC, do it. It took me about an hour to get there, but I live on the east side of Orlando. Coming from the disney area, tack on at least 1/2 hour.
We've been a bunch of times, most recently in March 2005. It is definately worth the trip. Do yourself a favor, check the launch schedules to make sure there are no conflicts. If there is a shuttle launch during your visit you might want to go before the actual launch date as the facility is generally closed on launch days depending on what is being launched and when. It is generally a zoo so it is best to avoid KSC the day of a launch. NASA has released the tenative launch schedules through early 2008. Here's a link: NASA - NASA's Shuttle and Rocket Missions
If you are going to be in the area during a launch you can get tickets for exclusive viewing areas. These get you pretty close to the shuttle and you will definately feel the ground shake. It is an awesome experience but you usually have to be there hours before the actual launch. Can you tell I'm a big space geek???
Thanks Lori and everybody!!! I have got to go thats all there is to it. Lori I am readin a interesting book now you may be interested in. It is about the three men stuck on the space station after the Columbia disaster! Its called Too Far From Home by Chris Jones. The really interesting thing was they talked alot about being rescued---they sometimes just wanted to stay at the space station!!! I like the book.
