As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Good luck to all! I decided I wanted to get in shape and lose at least 35 lbs before my Sept/Oct trip. So far in 3 1/2 weeks I have lost 6 lbs. I turned around the way I eat and I get my booty up at 4 a.m. to run/walk 2 miles every day before work (cuz I sit on my booty all day). On the weekends I do anywhere from 3 to 5 miles a day. Now if I can get my DH motivated!
I think the Disney Bound Weight Loss Group is a great idea!
Good luck to you all! I have been trying to lose as well. I shed 14 pounds pretty easily, but I have hit a plateau now. I am trying to talk myself through it - another 10 or 15 pounds lost before we go would be great!
Good luck to all of you. What a great idea to have a weight loss group to give each other support. I wanted to lose weight 2 months ago when I started planning. I kept saying I'll start walking next week. Well we leave in 15 days, its a little late for me so I'll have to start when I get back to get ready for a new trip.
There is a weight loss group here already - Passporter challenge, but I think adding a sup-group for pre-trip weight loss would be great. I lost 20 pound since last Jan and kept it off with weight Watchers. I would love to lose 13 more pounds and meet my goal weight, before our trip in Nov. I really want to look smaller in the pictures this time too.

I applaud your efforts! I'm another advocate for WW, it is the way to go in my book, I never could grasp the carbo/protein/fat intake percentages and just used their point system and portion control, that was my biggest problem. I averaged 2 pounds a week when I did it 7 years ago, I also exercised which helped tremendously! It took me 20 weeks to lose the weight. I would weigh myself every Monday morning before I got into the shower, never any other time. I made a chart for myself that had 3 columns, the first was the date and how much I weighed, the next column was the amount of weight I had lost that week, the last column was the total amount of weight I lost, when you start seeing double digets and your clothes start feeling loose it's so motivating to keep going.
When we went to WDW I was 40 pounds lighter and 3 sizes smaller, I felt great! I would also like to say that the week we spent there I did not concern myself with what I ate, by then I had developed better eating habits and all the walking was a piece of cake for me. While we were there I ate what I wanted and when we returned home I had not gained a pound.
Good luck to you, it's a pound at a time!

Crackers, that's great! 10 pounds in a month! Remember, I said 40 pounds in 20 weeks which is 4 1/2 months! It seemed to come off easier the more I had to lose, once I got within my goal it was slow moving. Like I said, exercise REALLY helped and I think that's key to a good all around program to get fit; I enjoy exercising so that's a non issue for me. Believe me there would be weeks when I would lose maybe a pound and then after a few weeks of feeling discouraged I'd drop 3, once I dropped 4 in a week. When I felt like I was at a stalemate I would add more exercises to my workouts and increased the speed in which I did them (kick it up a notch). I got alot of info from Bob Greene (Oprah's trainor) and incorporated what he said, especially when I felt like I reached plateaus, you have to change things up a bit not only to help you lose but so you don't get in a rut and bored.
Good Luck, I know it's a struggle at times but the benefits far outweigh the sacrifices!

Wow! You are all so inspiring! I'm anopther advocate of WW - love the flexibility with the point program. I think a weight loss support group is a great idea too. Keep up the good work everyone!
Good luck, everyone, with your weight loss efforts. I'm also trying to shed some post-baby pounds and like the idea of the pre-trip weight loss support group!
my parents did that for our trip...and they stuck to it... eating less (no seconds or thirds lol) and walking a lot (in home depot during the winter lol)

**Raises hand** Me too me too! I've been working out and eating healthier for the past month now...I've lost 20 pounds!
I am now really diving into it by alternating 3 mile walks with 30 minute cardio and weight training. Its really tough to go some days...but I feel better when I do.
Congrats to all of you that have lost and BEST of luck to those of you working on it as well!
