PTR - Cruising with the Perry's on the Fantasy updated 12/04/2013 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad you got the on-board activities you wanted! Sounds like a relaxing time ahead!
Me too! I didn't want us to do too much because I want to make sure we have time to relax and enjoy some of the other activities we missed on our last cruise.
Great itinerary! Congrats on getting what you wanted.
I couldn't believe everything I wanted including the times were still available. Part of why I like cruising in Sept (other than it's hurricane season), the boat isn't full since it's after Labor Day and most kids/families are back in school
We leave exactly 8 weeks from TODAY!!! I wish I could pull out the suitcases right now but I can't, still too early. I have started looking at the girls' wardrobes planning their outfits for dinners. My sister and I are two years apart and growing up we'd always dress a like, especially at Disney! I should find a pic and post it.
Now, I'm not as organized as Linnynad at WDW my girls do not match, but they might wear similar colors. I enjoy reading her PTR/TR as much as I do everyone else's! On our last cruise the girls wore the same color and had matching outfits on Pirate Night. It's fun whether you have all girls or girl/boy. I figured I might as well take advantage of it now while they're young because we all know they won't let me do this when they are 10 & 14.
I've been so busy at work and home that I haven't had a chance to be in 'cruise mode'. I know for formal night my husband needs to update his wardrobe. He's lost weight since he had pneumonia last March and was in the hospital. I'm thinking dress pants, button down shirt and tie. My dad will be in his tux looking sharp! I need to find a dress. I'm concerned about the packing. We'll be gone a total of 8 nights and with a 1 year old you never know how many outfits you might go through. I hope to be in our swimsuits most of this trip and just dress up for dinner. My goal is a relaxing, stress-free vacation! Just last night I told DH I can't wait to be on vacation with no cell phone. He was like "What??" Yes I'm attached to my phone when I'm not busy with the kids or doing household things, but it's just nice going on a cruise and having no connection to work and general life things. Where as at WDW I would be on my phone while waiting in line to get on the bus or a ride.
I have been reading someone else's Disney TR and they watch a movie every Friday and dinner is themed with it! Such a cute idea. What are some of your favorite countdowns to do before any vacation?
I like the idea of matching or similar outfits for dinner. It makes the photos look so nice! It's Kelly (Oh Toodles) who's doing the weekly themed dinner and movie nights for her countdown. I love that idea!

It's very strange that we have nothing to plan! If this were a WDW trip I would be mapping out our days with the park hours, shows, rides, dining, etc. So, I have looked into things on the Fantasy and ideas other families have done while preparing for their trip. One option is the FE. I have heard about it but always thought it was a lot of work. Then I thought, what gift could I leave everyone who signed up? We leave in a county that's known as the Kat-sup capital of the world and Horseradish. This is going to be tough. We do have an amazing home made chocolate store in our town, but chocolate doesn't travel well. Hmmm....
I tried going onto the Dis boards to get more info, but their site is currently down. I checked some of the customizable FE on Etsy. My question is, how do I hang this on our door? If the Dis boards ever come back up (love you PP) I'll look into it more.
For our last cruise I ordered off Etsy a personalized pillow cases for the girls to have the characters sign. My DD5 has seen so many characters that on our last trip to WDW she skipped almost all of them. I knew for our cruise last year that we wouldn't have time for characters with a new born so I decided on the pillow case. It's also a great keepsake! We dropped it off at guest services, picked it up on our last night and we weren't returned all of the markers, which was fine I just thought it was strange. Still debating if I want to do this for our upcoming cruise. I probably will but will choose different embroidery for each DD. I'll be sure to post pics!

You know you're getting close to a Disney vacation when this arrives
We are pumped!! I called my parents to see if they had received theirs. They hadn't but by the next day it came. My dad was very excited and opened it before my mom could get her hands on it. I called Disney Cruise today because since we're arriving the night before and staying at the Hyatt I wasn't sure when we had to be down stairs to catch the bus. The answer is the bus starts leaving at 10am and comes every 15-20 min. We're all set there!
This past weekend I took DD1 to have her passport picture taken. The first attempt was horrible so we went back 5 hours later and she didn't not like it. We got a picture and the post office thinks we'll be able to use it even though she's crying you can see her eye color which is the most important thing. We have an appointment at the post office on Thursday to turn in all paperwork. I realize I'm way behind. Last year I had our passports done in April and they arrived 2 weeks later. We debated on whether or not to get her one, but would rather be safe than sorry.
When I was looking through our cruise book I noticed under Port Adventures it didn't have DD's BBB appointment listed. It's under our cruise activities online, but not in the book.
Last week we went to the mall. DD5 is really into Sophia the First right now so I was hoping we could find a dress for the cruise. Well they didn't have her dress size, but they had her shoe size. She went crazy grabbing everything Sophia! She also picked out her school backpack and lunch bag. Of course it's Sophia!
I'm still working on the wardrobe. I need to find a dress for formal night and DH needs a nice suite. He's lost a lot of weight in the past year, but not on purpose. Must be nice! So his suite is too big.
It's raining and 65 today. I can't wait to be in the sunny Caribbean
