Recruiting Fans for PassPorter Street Teams! - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm crazy about passporter so I already do many of these things: talk to friends, direct them to the books and boards (the only online forum that I can wholeheartedly recommend) and check for the book at bookstores.
My friends know me as their "go to" Disney gal for when they are planning their vacations. As evidence to my madness, I recently hosted a DCL House Party.
If you need someone in the L.A., San Fernando Valley, area, I'd be happy to distribute your resources and post about my efforts here and on my twitter and facebook accounts.
Sounds like so much fun to me!! I already do the book facing thing whenever I'm in a bookstore, as I'm sure many of the rest of community do also--and I could happily live inside a bookstore
I'm passionate about Disney since I can remember and about Passporter since my mom hooked me with a gift of the 2003 spiral edition. A couple of spiral years & I realized that I am really a Deluxe girl a heart Prominently displayed on my bookshelf is every well worn Passporter--guardians of many many fabulous planning and trip memories.
For 2009 I finally had to get upgrade to a new Deluxe cover (it had a long and succesful run so I appreciate the quality of the PP products) as I wore out the first one. I'm the goto Disney planner in our community and I am always telling people about Passporter books and the message board. I think it's rare to have built such a nice and helpful community! I loan out my previous versions so ppl can appreciate the wonder of it & when I am trip planning I always have my current one with me---garnering many ohhhs and ahhs and interest.
I live in middle TN in a rural area where there are no Disney TA specialists, so we really need the extra help and support so much more than all you city dwellers

Passporter and I go together like peanut butter and jelly. I love Disney (like everyone) and I love to write down my plans and keep them all in one spot. I'd be great for the street team because a) my location. I live in Westchester County, I work in New York city. b) my job. I talk to different people every day as a cop. I'm a perfect grassroots marketing person. Besides all that, I've made countless people in Disney fanatics, mouse junkies, etc. Everyone that comes on a trip or talks about planning instantly becomes one as well. I would own the New York market.
Like others have probably mentioned I love doing this exact thing. I showed the book to our realtor and come to find out she was leaving for disney in one week and went and bought the book before her trip. I always have friends asking for Disney trip advice and I point directly to your book-this is a big deal because I use to only look at Birnbaums book but no more! I've been converted!
I think starting at travel agents would be great and even banks who offer travel packages-Sam's club etc. Some may not allow outsiders to pass out items but couldn't hurt to talk to managers about carrying the book or offer it through brochures along with their packages.
I'm currently in Denham Springs, La but have ties to Evansville, IN and Topeka, KS.
Even if i'm not picked let me know if I can help in any way for the book-I just love it!
I in on it!!!! I pass the PP word along every chance I get...I live near Annapolis, MD. and have great access to the military community! Disney is my passion and Passporter feeds it!!!!
I already spread the word about Passporter. When I have gone to Six Flags New England I have even been caught reading it and talking to total strangers about it. I have told travel agents about it and have been telling all the people I know that are about to embark on a trip to The World that they need this "Bible!" I am a stay at home mom so I could devote all my free time to spreading the good word of Passporter. Not to mention that the city I live in has NO Passporter issues in their system and there are multiple branches of our library as well as College libraries to access. I would even be willing to host a party called, "An evening with the Passporter!" I could rent out the community room at the library and get all types of people involved. I would love a chance to do this for you and help make Passporter more of a household name than it already is.
Thank you for this opportunity.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
I would love to carry my passion for Disney World and Passporter to the next level. Everyone that I work with knows that I am the one to go to if you're travelling to Walt Disney World. After I give them some tips, I always ask if they use the web. Then I direct them to the passporter and allearsnet websites. They are both great! I have even given out old copies of PassPorters that I already had from previous years. These are great tools to get them started even if they are a couple of years old. I have done this with family and friends. I would love to help spread the word here in Columbus, GA. Please pick me!
What a great idea! Why am I passionate about Passporter? The book and website hold all my Disney dreams. The book with the wonderful photos (of people I know!) and the wealth of information presented like no other guide book and the websites wonderful community of Disney friends who are so kind and helpful. I have been reading Passporter and part of the message boards since July 2005. I already spread the word about Passporter to anyone who will listen! I have spoken to a mom's group about Disney and of course, I talked about the only guide book you need for Disney, Passporter!
Last night, I was pouring over my new 2010 Passporter, seeing you and your family and the people I know from the message boards in the photos and thought to myself - I want to be apart of this book. Today, I see your post.
I will love helping spread the Passporter name! I live in Huntsville, Alabama.
Thank you for your consideration,
Danielle

I would love, love, love to be an advocate for Passporter! I have to admit I am probably even more passionate about being a representitive since I met my incredible hubby on the boards! But that personal story aside I have been an avid Passporter fan for quite a few years. My friends and co-workers call me the Disney Guru! Usually they are surprised at the little inside tips I can give them and frequently I hear "oh, I never thought of that!". I always have my PP in my car and pull it out frequently to reference things to people. I have purchased many many Disney guides and this one is so much more. Its a step by step how to!
I am a nurse and I come in contact with several visitors/pts who see my TinkerBell name tag holder (that dear hubby gave me) and ask, "have you been to Disney?", or "what do you think of staying on property?", or "whats your favorite resort?". The first words out of my mouth are always "have you seen the book called Passporter?" I have a good relationship with the dr's I work with and I am sure I could leave materials there. I also travel to the east side of the state where I moved from when I got married last spring, and most of my family still lives, so I have those contacts as well.
I also have had some pictures in the past 2 editions of Passporter I have showed them to EVERYBODY!!! You'd have thought I'd painted the Mona Lisa or something! LOL
I just think the quality of Passporter is unsurpassed! It is a complete book of planning, organizing and holding memories. Nothing even comes close! I live in Michigan, which I know you do too, I am sure I could spread the word to many!!! Passorter is a product I am proud of and believe in. Those are qualities you need to represent any product successfully!
Would love this! Like everyone else, Passporter has made me an ameteur Disney "expert". I am on our parish's Library Board, as well as the Board of our local hospital, which puts me in contact with Make A Wish families too. The one thing I always give them is a Passporter! One of my joys in life in life is spreading the magic of Disney, which Passporter is a major part of. I live in south-east Louisiana, and travel several times weekly to New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette.
I would LOVE to be on the team :-) I have LOVED Passport since I first purchased it back in 2005 :-) I have promoted it shamelessly to friends and family who went or are planning on going to Disney World. I also used it as a visual for a speech I gave in class @ MTSU :-) Pick me! You WILL NOT be dissappointed!
I don't know what to say except I Passporter! I am one of those people who was given a Passporter by a friend. I found the message boards and have felt like part of the family ever since.
I'm also one of those Mom's who has planned a trip to WDW for my family with the "other" guidebooks. Although we managed okay Our trips after I found Passporter have been so much better. The guidebooks are so down to earth with pictures and tips from "real people" You know those of us who have been there, done that and found a way to make it even better!
I can't talk enough about the message board community as well. I have really found some great friends here. Really we are the friendliest people around. I've never felt insulted or belittled on these boards. I think that's why I love it here so much!
Anyway...I'm here in the frozen northeast Ohio. Good ole Canton. Home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and one of the worst football teams in the NFL.Just like the others everyone knows I'm the Disney Girl. The one to go to when you're planning your trip. I love that! Ah HA! Maybe I should be a trip planner? Okay I am hanging up the stethoscope now! Ha! Ha!
I come into contact with lots and lots of people everyday. Often I am chatting with many of them about Disney. I've been to WDW, on a Disney Cruise and now I'm getting experience with DVC as well. I would recommend PP guidebooks and e-books for all!
I would love to help out and pass along the word about Passporter. it and I am so glad that I know about it!
Well one of the many reasons I would like to help spread the word is because PassPorter has helped me so much with my trip planning to Disney - and I think could help SO many others! I know I am rather new to the boards - but in 1 week I have learned so much mroe than I have on any other forum - and gotten more information from the PassPorter guide book than any other! Another reason I would love to spread the word is because I think so many more people could enjoy Disney (maybe even to the extent that all of us do ) if they knew how to plan! That's one thing our world could use a little bit more of right now - joy and Disney magic! When someone picks up a PassPorter or visits the boards - there surrounded with magic! If I can help spread the word about something can help somebody make something more joyous or make somebody happy - it would be so cool!
One way I could help spread the word in my city (New York) is to visit the hundreds of bookstores we have here and inquirer if they have any copies of the PassPorter - there must be at least 300 book stores in the city (and yes - I would go to all of them for PassPorter ) and being able to reach that many bookstores - would mean being able to reach even more people. If they had it - wonderful (I would make sure to display it prominently ) - and if they didn't I would request they order a few copies.
Another way I could help spread the word is in my apartment complex (which has over 300 apartments!!). We have community meetings once a month - and a bulletin board which nearly every person reads! I could have a drawing with different prizes (including various PassPorter items) in my building - to enter all you have to do is sign up to be a member of the PassPorter boards or sign up for the newsletter - once they do they would e-mail me and I would enter them in the drawing! I could also hand out postcards at the meeting, put up signs on that bulletin board I was talking about - I could even just talk about it!
I could also spread the word by talking to my local librarians - a few of the libraries around me have an area where you can post notices, leave postcards, etc. I could post a few notices and leave postcards for everybody to take! Also many of the diners, grocery stores, coffee shops, and drug stores all have places where you can place information - posters - the works !
I have already been talking about my PassPorter to at least 5 people (I've mentioned it to everyone who's come into my office and I've showed it to them!). I also have been talking about it to about ANYONE who even see's me with it (no - they don't need to ask about it!). I can spread the word even more at our next community meeting, at the office, at my son's school (where I volunteer), and to all of my friends and family (friends always listen to friends ).
I hope you consider me to be a part of your street team - it would be an absolute honor to be able to spread Disney magic and joy (plus PassPorter stuff is cool ) and I thank you for giving me the opportunity.
Would love to spread the word even further here in the Virgin Islands and elsewhere in the Caribbean! All my old PP's have been passed on to other curious WDW friends along with my WDW planning dvd's. There is a local west indian woman working for the USPS here on St John who owns a timeshare at WDW and has since the beginning. One day while visiting WDW I was walking out the doors of AS Sports towards the pool and I hear "Oh Miss St John..." i turn around to see that wonderful St John lady in the exact same place at the exact same time as me! Small world syndrome. My point is we have tons of WDW fans down here with kids who need to hear more about Passporter.
Most friends know of my passion for WDW and the numerous times I have visited over the years. I get a lot of requests for info and advise. Would love to push the PP even further now that my photos appear in it!
Jennifer, I would love to be a PassPorter Street Team member and advocate!
I belong to many groups in the Lansing, Michigan metro area where I already pass books around, and I'm very passionate about Disney offerings and all of the PassPorter travel books and products. Every time I go to the local bookstores for a book signing, I search out whatever PassPorter editions they have on hand and do the face-out-the-PassPorter thing whenever I find one.
Also, I've given out more past issues over the last several years than I can count but never really have any left nowadays to give out. (Except for the large personal archive taking up bookcases, hahaha.) They're now in the hands of co-authors, my dental hygienist, several doctors, administration director, hotel owner, friends, colleagues, fellow artists, anyone with grandkids, kids, or a desire to enjoy the theme parks and cruises.
I can post PP Street Team information to my facebook page (it's already in Pages), my business facebook page that's under development along with my blog, Twitter when fb is linked, my group websites (with a link if you send one), and my ebook location too (don't forget to vote), and can post info on local bulletin boards. Then I'd like to donate copies to the local libraries and their satellites, and the Michigania store, and donate locally for a door prize.
The PP Street Team 'ambassador' sort of designation, with PP cards to pass along, a credential-like badge, pin, or sticker worn to prompt other people to ask questions makes what I already like to do even more prolific. Don't feel obligated, but I'd love to spread the word....
