My 1st Attempt Disney Fantasy Western Caribbean 9/5/15-9/12/15-UPDATED 2/12/16 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Signing on! Not much longer now. We went on this same cruise (diff. time of year) and had a great time. Your front yard pics brought back memories. We got socked in NY too. Not fun. Looking forward to hearing more.

We are cruising in a week too but it's out of Charleston so we are watching the weather ourselves! Your packing and mine are the same lol my husband always tells me like a few days before we leave...oh yea I need shorts [emoji34] yep Those are really cool fish extenders!,I wish my husband would be into that. We didn't do anything last year for our door wow not much longer to go! I hope u feel better soon!
That was my first guess! I figured if you went to UCONN you would have said so right off as the name is pretty recognizable (thanks to our great basketball teams!). I'm right down the road in Lebanon. I went to UCONN but DH and I met at Blarney's (about 20 years ago).
I'm curious about your fish extender experience. I know about FE exchanges, but have never signed up as it does seem like it can be a lot of work.

Ok so I blinked and the trip was over. However, we did have a total blast! I will be updating over the next few days (maybe weeks) while going through photos and deciding exactly what to report on. If there is anything along the way I missed or you are curious about, let me know. I will try my best to answer.
I know I had said I wouldn’t do a full day by day trip report and I still plan on sticking to that. But let me start with brief overview of day one.
Friday September 4, 2015
We had a flight at 6:10am from TF Green Providence. Monty and I live about 20 min north of the airport and my parents like about 10 min south of it. We decided to meet at their house and pack the car around 4am. That meant we left our house at 3:30am. We got to the airport about 4:30, dad parked the car and we all checked in. Somehow my parents both got TSA Precheck and were able to fly through security. Monty and were not so lucky and had to wait in security for about 20min. Now I know to most people 20min at TSA security doesn’t sound too bad, but if you know TF Green airport that seems crazy. TF green is a very small airport, I think there are maybe 20 gates. But we of course made our flight and boarded on time. We really lucked out by having empty seats next to us. Mom and I had an extra seat and Monty and dad had an extra in their row as well. My mom had acquired some free drink coupons so we got the party started early. Yes, we were those people drinking on a plane at 7am. We were on vacation!!
We arrived at Orlando International Airport (MCO) around 9am and headed to Magical Express. We hopped right on a bus and were on our way to All Star Music. Because this is cruise trip report I won’t get into much detail about All Star Music, but let me know if you have any questions about it.
We had done online check in, which was a breeze. We dropped off the bags we had in our room and headed to the bus for EPCOT.
We didn’t have a lot planned for EPCOT. We did a few fastpasses including Soarin’ and Spaceship Earth. But we mostly walked around world showcase, ate good food and yummy drinks. It rained in the afternoon. I was happy I packed those 99 cent Walmart ponchos.
EPCOT was open with Extra Magic Hours until 11pm, but we barely made it to 9pm. We were exhausted. We headed back to All Star Music to rearrange some luggage and get some sleep.
Cruise day was finally here!! We got up somewhat early to get breakfast at the Intermission Food Court. Our Disney Cruise Line transfer was meeting in the lobby at 11:15 and scheduled to leave at 11:30.
We spent some time sitting by the pool and in the shop. Around 11:15 we found the DCL rep in the lobby and checked in. We boarded the bus and were told we had to make two stops before heading to Port Canaveral (bummer).
And yes, the driver insisted he jump into the picture. ha.
Well I am headed to bed. I will hopefully get another update tomorrow.
20 minutes to get through security at TF Green!? Now, if you had said 20 minutes on line at DD I would have believed you (longest line at TF Green!) but it does seem like a long time for security.
Sounds like a good start to your trip. Can't wait to hear more.

We arrived at Port Canaveral around 1:30. Check in was quick and easy and open boarding at started.
We sailed away with no issues and enjoyed the sailaway party.
Next I will do a quick review of our cabin.
Cabin 6550
Category 5D
Located starboard side between the forward and midship elevators.
Overall the room was a pretty standard category 5D. We really had no complaints about the room, just observations. The room was not listed as “partial white wall” but did have a slight white edge. I am not sure what actually constitutes a “white wall” but I posted a picture of what our balcony had. Also directly below deck 6 are the lifeboats.
Besides the lifeboats directly below to the right, there was a large balcony below to the left. I believe it is cabin 5552. We never really saw anybody out there, but I’d consider staying indoors too if I had all of the deck 6 looking down at my balcony.
One night we were on the balcony and could hear what sounded like water running/dripping. After a little investigating, I figured out it was a pipe on our balcony. Apparently there was water running down it. Again, not complaining, we had just never seen that before.
Cabin 6550 is assembly station D. Assembly station D is in the Walt Disney Theatre along with assembly station C. It was kinda nice that my parents ended up in the same muster as us. Made me feel a little better in the unlikely chance we had to report to an emergency muster.
As many of you know, all the Fantasy cabins have a holder for the stateroom key to turn on the electricity in your stateroom. We have several times in the past forgotten one of our room keys in the holder. I had seen an idea on pinterest to take an old gift card and put a magnet on the back. That way the key is always right there and you won’t leave your room key behind. It worked out really great for us.
Cabin 6550 connects to 6548. I was concerned about hearing the people next door, but it wasn't an issue. We never heard a peep. We had never had a connected room and I wasn't sure how it would affect the cabin. I honestly didn't even notice the door was there.
We really enjoyed this room. We didn't really feel any motion and it was very quiet. I found it very convenient to be between the forward and midship elevators. My parents were in the same room just on the port side. It was nice for all of us to have our own space, but still close enough to run over.
This trip we also took more advantage of our wave phones. Monty and I had always traveled alone, so we never really needed them. However this time with my parents it was great to be able to split up and then just call when we were looking for each other. I did not use the texting via the DCL app so I cant speak for that.
Nice cabin! I agree about that balcony below you. It's so nice and big, but very exposed. The "white wall" balcony has a solid white wall that covers the whole area where the railings are, so the view isn't as open as the one you had. That's a lot of magnets on your door. Looks festive!
