As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Day 1.3
We decided to go check out Splash mt. The wait was 70 minutes long (what else is new ), but we jumped in line anyway. While we where driving up earlier that day, mom had remembered that it was unofficial "Goth day" at Disneyland . Sure enough, the park was full of Goths! They seemed to take up half the crowd! (Not that there is anything wrong with that) But anyway, while we where in line mom decided to write a song (much to my dismay) called "It's a goth world after all". Mom has given me permission to copy down the lyrics. I do hope this not offend anyone.... we had nothing better to do in line anyway. I now present to you: It's a Goth world after all!
Sung to the tune of “It’s a Small World”
black boots
black clothes
ripped stockings too
black lips
black hair
with a spike or too
so much black that they wear
it just makes us all scared
It’s a Goth World After All!!
Its a goth world after all
Its a goth world after all
Its a goth world after all
Its a goth, goth world
Pierced nose
pierced ears
even bellybuttons
tattoos everywhere
oh for pain they’re all gluttons
spikes and studs everywhere
that’s why we all stare
It’s a Goth World After All!
Its a goth world after all
Its a goth world after all
Its a goth world after all
Its a goth, goth world
Anyway, when we finally got to the loading dock, we got the back three seats in the log, and then headed up for a zip-a-de-do-da-ing good ride! I still think this splash is WAY better then the one at WDW. Everything about it is better, including the logs. I know this sounds weird but I find splash (except for the big drop) relaxing! I love drifting around the thorn patch after the first lift hill. It feels great after standing in a long line.
Coming up next: Snow White: a letdown of a new musical

Re: Day 1.3
Doesn't it seem odd that the Goth kids (who say they're all about death and pain and unhappiness) would schedule a day in "The HAPPIEST Place on Earth"? Glad you liked Splash. We didn't get on it unfortunatly. Line was really long and we just never got back around there.

Re: Day 1.3
Goth day sounds like it would be fun. Being different is great, whatever floats your boat I say.
I also think SPMT is relaxing. The last time we were on it the picture of our log that it takes at the drop was great. One kid in the front had his hands up giving the thumbs up, with a goofy smile on his face, me and my daughter were doing the scream laugh thing, and the guy in back of us had his arms crossed and his head laying on his shoulders with his eyes closed like he was asleep.
We haven't seen the Snow White musical yet but have heard some bad reviews. I don't think it will stop us from seeing it at least once though.

Day 1.4
It was nearly time for Snow white, so we headed to fantasyland theater. On the way we paused to watch cast members start to set up Fantasmic! They where lifting up the huge center light rack, and boy dose that thing go up high ! I wanted to stay and watch them put out the barges, but Snow white's show time was in 15 minutes so we ran to fantasyland. When we got there we realized that it was not for another 20 more minuts . We stood around till about 5 minutes before show time and then we where let in. The entire front end of the theater was painted like a forest (up to the catwalks). On the far right of the stage there was a little castle tower thing that the Queen would spend most of her time on, and the lower tower wall could roll back to become the dungeon. The rest of the stage was mostly backdrops of trees, leafs, etc., with 2-3 levels and stares cut into the "rocks" at the front of the stage. The show began with the magic mirror (which is pretty cool) coming down and doing the usual "once open a time" stuff, followed by the 7 dwarfs making there entrance, and the rest is just like the book. My family has never really liked Snow white to much, and that may be the reason why we didn't really like it. The dwarfs are fine (especially Dopy ), but didn't find Disney magic in the prince or the animals. The Witch costume is however a zillion times better then the one they use in Fantasmic! (did I just say that? ). After that we headed to Towmarrowland and hoped right on StarTours. It's sad that it never seems to have a wait anymore. I would like it better with even an 20 minute line, so I could take in the scenery. After that we headed to Autopia, and I got lucky and won a prize that I got after-words at the gift shop (a die-cast of one of the cars) ! I find that ride to be a bit boring now that I am getting older. I just wish my bro felt the same way.
Coming up next: The best parade in the world: Disney's Electrical Parade!
And later: Disney's Imagine... The best firework show you have ever seen

Sorry about the Snow White show. I'll be posting later about the Aladdin show. Did you see that? It really ROCKED! You guys really got a lot of great stuff in. It just seemed more crowded when we were there.

Re: Day 1.4
We saw the snow white show twice on our last trip, and I think the performance really varies. The first time we saw it we were sitting towards the back and it was in the middle of the afternoon, and we had waited in line for about an hour(the day before we hadn't been able to even get in). And the show was okay, but not anything spectacular. We went to see it again because when we rode the train around the next evening, the magic mirror looked AWESOME at night. We sat up close (but not too close) the next night and it was an incredible show! The darkness really added to the effects, and it was like a totally different experience. And I agree, the Aladdin show rocks! I can't wait to hear about Fantasmic (my favorite too, by the way!) Did you have to wait until your feet fell asleep?

Glad to know that it's somebody's favorite (besides mine)! I saw the second showing (right after the fireworks, about 45 min. before show time) in the second row ( ), but my feet where fine after sitting an hour before show time for electrical parade, and sitting for Imagine.
