As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Our son had a 12 pack of beer he had in a carryon and the porter asked if we had any extra luggage tags to put on it. They delivered it to the room!! We had a soft side cooler that had wheels and they took that, too. I had it on the balcony and the Room Host filled it with ice every morning. The water on board was expensive, a case of $5.00 Walmart water was $50. I would bring water and buy liquor. The mug was an option but DH did not want to carry it arround all day. We had the lowest onboard charge bill of any cruise we ever took. Just having a couple of pre-dinner drinks in the cabin before dinner saved a lot of money.

Yep, the drink prices are not that bad. I think I paid more for a mixed drink at the Poly than I did on the cruise. If you would like to BYOB. We were able to carry on a bottle of champagne w/ ease.
The alcohol prices are very nice. I'd say around what I'd pay at a respectable bar. Not the dive I accidentally went to in Indy during the 500, nor the bar I usually pay $20 a shot for 25 year old whisky .
Now, if you buy "premium" alcohol (Repisado tequila, for instance), you will pay quite a bit more than land prices.
One piece of advice about wine. Don't pay for the high end vintage wines (particularly cabs and shiraz). As they said on the Travel Channel a few years back "Rule 1, ships move" and "Rule 6, wine doesn't like to be moved"
We are cruising in late September and I would like to hear from those who have cruised recently about the drink prices. I am thinking more of the clubs than dinner. Thanks.
Drink prices have changed only gradually over the years. In general, you can expect to pay what you might pay at typical mid-price chain restaurants like Outback Steakhouse, Romano's Macaroni Grill, etc. Prices are consistent throughout the ship, and a 15% automatic gratuity is added regardless of where you get the drink. You will find different featured drinks in different places, but again, prices will be consistent. There's usually one bargain-priced drink-of-the-day available (well, bargain-priced as long as you don't get the souvenir glass - it's available in a regular glass, too, at most bars). The dinner menu focuses on wine rather than mixed drinks, although there's usually one or two specialty drinks offered. If you're a cocktails at the start of dinner person, plan on getting your drink at one of the lounges before you head into dinner.

Is this souvenir glass, the same glass for every drink of the day??? So if I get one souvenir glass then I don't need to get another one because it will be the same???
The drinks on the ship are moderately priced compared to other places. But to save a little money, some people take an extra tote bag and after their plane lands go to the grocery or liquor store and fill up. that way they get exactly what they want.

There's no problem carrying around drinks you poured in your room. There's no requirement for a lid (the bars normally don't put lids on their drinks, either), although you probably don't want to exit the room with a glass that's been filled to the brim, and especially if it's one of those relatively rare occasions when seas are rough.

Yes you can. They will ask you to fill them using the cups at the beverge station. They did this to us in May.
