Officially going to Disney World and paid in full - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Congrats on PIF! And that Disney math is awesome!
Thanks, I was not going to start one until I had it paid in full, just in case something happened.

Great job on getting such a good airfare, and then a room discount on top of that!
Thanks. I wanted to make sure I was paid in full first.

Thank you Laurie! I have to think I have learned a few things from all of the reports that I have read including yours.

Thanks. It has been a long time in the making. It is very costly for us to go there so I am sure this will be a great trip

At least Denver is a reasonable drive from home for you...I have to pay our regional airport fares to get to Denver or Dallas...or drive each 7 hours away! I have flown both Frontier and SW out of Denver to Orlando...both have their good points!
I love the extra day too! It is crazy to fly from Cheyenne, If it was cheaper we would love to fly from here.
Well here is what I have so far. Our vacation will begin on that Friday, April 25th then it just time to finish up with some housework and make sure everything is packed.
We have to be at DIA by 9:30 for our flight out at 11:12 and we arrive about 4:45. We have a towncar that is going to pick us up at the airport and take us to Riverside.
The first night, we think we are just going to check out our resort but we might head to DTD to get our Memory Maker information or card (if that is what you have to do now)
Wednesday, April 30th, We are thinking to head to Magic Kingdom until the early part of the afternoon then head to DTD for our reservation at T-Rex. Then just walk around there until we get tired. Then head back.
Thursday, May 1st, Heading to Epcot and explore the park until our Dinner reservation at Cap May Cafe at Beach Club. Then afterward we will probably head back to Epcot to see IllumiNations.
Friday, May 2nd. Heading to Hollywood Studios and explore the park until our dinner reservation at Sci-Fi.
Saturday, May 3rd, Heading to Animal Kingdom. Have a breakfast reservation at Tucker House. Our plan it to head to Rafiki's (Thanks to Laurie) Then we are not sure how long we will stay here but if we stay until park closes then we will head to another park in the evening.
Sunday, May 4th, We have nothing planned but going to play some mini golf as we both enjoy that so much. Then we have Dinner reservations at Hoop Do Doo.
Monday, May 5th, we do not have anything planned so we are open to whatever we fill for when we wake up. We do have Dinner reservations at Chef Mickey
Tuesday, May 6th, We have breakfast reservations at Cyrstal Palace then of course, going to spend most of the day at Magic Kingdom. I am opening that we get to ride the Mine coaster as I have been watching it throughout the development.
Wednesday, May 7th, go to one the parks until we have to go back to the resort for the airport shuttle to pick us up. I would say around noon or so. Our plan leaves at 4:43
I am sure the plans will change alittle bit as we know we will not see everything and my hubby does take it slow as he does not like to walk fast and just soak in everything. I am good as we will get at least 3 rides per park anything over that is a bonus. I am a more of a early morning person and hubby is more of a late night person so we both plan on being up early and staying out late. What else do you do on vacation but enjoy every minute of it. We can relax when we get back home.
Please let me know what you all think and if you think I should change something.
Your plans look great! Glad that you are going into it knowing that you can't see it all in one trip - always a reason to go back! And Roger is right, take it slow and soak it all in!
Is there a reason you are choosing town car vs just using Disney Magical Express (DME)?

yes, that was the only way I could get hubby to agree. He told me no way he was riding the bus!! So I was good to go with a towncar!! Anything to get him to go! LOL

Great start Debbie! I'm really looking forward to hearing about your first trip. I agree with Lisa, if you can convince him to ride DME, you'll save money and enjoy the ride over to the bubble. Either way, YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY!!!
Your plans look great! Great attitude, knowing you won't get to see everything in one trip I think making a plan to take it slow and just enjoy all of the magic is the way to go

Thanks. I don't think there is no changing his mind on that one. And we are celebrating our anniversary, so something special to remember too.

Thanks. I say if I get only those 3 rides in I am good!! If we make it on more that is just a bonus in my opinion!!
Your plans look great and you don't look over-scheduled, which is a very good thing! It's good to have a basic grid and some meals planned and then you're free to explore. Did you already purchase the Memory Maker? If so, you should be getting a card in the mail and you can add the information to your Magic Bands. Once it's added, you no longer have to go anywhere to activate it. Just start having photos done! The photographer should be able to just scan your band to add the photos to your account. If you are waiting until you get there to purchase the Memory Maker, it will cost quite a bit more.
Congrats on the trip actually happening this time and being PIF! Your plans sound great. I always think it is best to go with a game plan but stay flexible so you can change things as you go and as needed. First time visitors this is so exciting!!!!
