No Disney…Someone Backs into the Car…So We are going to DISNEY Pre-Trip Report - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Lol, for the record, you paid dad back, who paid for the car repairs, and then he gave you money to go to Disney. Great gift from dad! I'm glad no one was injured! Can't wait to hear more about your trip. Keep it coming!
I am sorry I had to laugh at that one. Really no I did not pay him back. My parents are devoriced and they have this whole who can out do who thing going on. Well when he found out that mom was paying half of the air as part of our Christmas gift, he had to pay for the car and he is also giving us like 2,000.00 to spend on the trip. Really must be nice to have 2 bills to pay to have that kind of money. So sometimes the two of them trying to out do each other works in our favor. Not that we try to encurage them to do that.
Nice start and maybe the most unusual way to get a trip to Disney!
Thats what we say. Even though my sister tells me if I get hit that I better hope the other person totals the car. Thank God that did not happen. I hate going to the hospital in an ambo. When you are in an ambo some how they find every pothole to hit and when you are on a back board and a neck brace they dont feel to good. And rideing back ward in them things make me sick.
On a side note we almost got to go deluxe tonight. But thank God my sister was running 3 mins late or she and my 2 nephews would have been T-Boned and the car would be at the junk yard tonight.
So with the money and a pin code for FREE Dinning we are set. The cast that will be going:
Me-a.k.a. Kimberlym322-34, 7th trip to Disney. Was not too much into Disney until my first trip to WDW back in 2001. I am the one that makes most of the plans. As they tell me if I could plan the bathroom stops into the day I would. I am also the Disney information getter. They want to know something I find the answers. DSis-a.k.a. Beverly-36, 7th trip to Disney. Has always loved the mouse. Loves taking photos—we have photos of the same thing about 5,000 times! She most of the time pays for the trip-just not this year. She is also the one that will not let me plan bathroom stops for the day when I am making plans. She is also the one that I have to “yell” at for 2 years for her to try something that I want. (case in point Le Cellier’s-now that is a must for every one) DNephew #1-a.k.a. Aaron-15, 7th trip to Disney. First 5 times we went had to pull him along now he yells when we say we are not going. Hates to have photo taken and stand to see any characters. Wants to change things after the plans are made. DNephew #2-a.k.a. Kevin-14, 7th trip to Disney. The mellow one. Only bother him when we are there at Disney with Disney stuff. Go’s with the flow but would rather be home and asleep than anything else. Would love for us to forget the first trip to Disney. (if ya really want to know why let me know and I will tell ya)
So with the money and the Pin Code, it came down to when to go. This went back and forth for a few days. I wanted to go the first part of December so that I could see the castle covered in lights or I wanted to go so that we were there November 1st so that we could try and do MNSSHP. Well in the end we tossed a coin and checked air fare. So it was the first week of November that we were going. On the phone making the reservation for November 1st till the 8th. Free dinning and staying at POP. We LOVE POP. Worked out great…air would only be 130.00 a person and the boys would only miss 4 days of school. So we had it set we were going to take a early flight down so that we could be at MK at 4 P.M. for the last party. Still days away from making ADR’s (that was Aug. 3rd-marked on every calendar that I would lay eyes on, even at work). But with me being the planer that I am (no bathroom stops though) I had everything done ready to call at 7 am on Aug. 3rd, well I hoped on the computer and did them at 6 am. So this is how the plan looked at 3 am on Aug. 3rd. Nov. 1st-get into FL, MNSSHP-dinner at Tony’s at 5:30 Nov. 2nd-EPCOT-dinner at Japan at 8 pm Nov.3rd-AK- Ohana’s at 7 pm Nov. 4th-MGM- Whispering Cannon at 7 pm Nov. 5th-EPCOT-Le Cellier at 11 am Nov. 6th-MK- Chef Mickey’s at 10 am Nov. 7th- Park up in the air-1900 Park Fare at 6 pm Nov. 8th-go home
So at 3 AM on August 3rd I was sitting at work. Everything done…all my paper work, breakfast out…all I had to do was sit till 6 AM to get on Disney site. Plans made-See plan one of four post! I had one computer going with Facebook and allearsnet.com, and the second computer going with Disney.com and Passporter site, sitting looking at the passpoter book . Well that did not last long…phone rings and it is my DSis. Well she informs me that DNephew #1 decided that he wanted to make some changes to the plan. (note to self HIDE the Passporter books for kids after things have been decided.) So here we go with the second set of Plans. Nov. 1st-get to FL-MNSSHP-dinner at Tony’s at 5:30 pm Nov. 2nd-EPCOT-dinner at Japan at 8 PM Nov. 3rd-AK-Cape May Clam Bake at 7 pm Nov. 4th-MGM-OHanas at 7 pm Nov. 5th-Epcot-Le Cellier at 11 am Nov. 6th-MK-Cat Kora’s place at 5 pm Nov. 7th-unknown park-1900 park fare at 6 pm Nov. 8th-going home
So at 4 am on August 3rd that is what the plans looked like. But like anything with us they must change and that they did.
So at 4 AM on August 3rd I was sitting at work. Everything done…all my paper work, breakfast out…all I had to do was sit till 6 AM to get on Disney site. Plans made-See plan one of four and plan two of four post! So my DSis decides that because I have 2 ½ hours before I can do dinning that I should book the air for the trip. So another tab on the computer came up and put in the airtran site, put in all our information. The price for tickets jumped from 59.00 per person each way to 148.00 per person each way. All I had to say was are you out of your mind?? Well because of this we had to change the plans around…looked like we would be going Nov. 2nd to Nov. 9th. This with idea we would not be able to do the MNSSHP , but hey we were still going to Disney . But a wrench got tossed into that idea because my sister delivers the newspapers and that would mean her boss would have to do 2 Mondays and 1 Sunday…two days that she has to deliver the most papers. My thought on that…cry me a river and get over it. So with airtran still up I moved dates around to see what it would be on Oct. 31st down and Nov. 7th back…down could get it for 89.00 and coming back was still 148.00 a person. So I checked for Oct. 30th and Nov. 6th. DING-DING we have a winner with 59.00 air each way per person!!! So it was like are you sure that this is what you want to do…I am hitting the buy button…yes go for it! So here we go with the third set of Plans. Oct. 30th- get to FL- Cat Kora’s place at 5 pm Oct. 31st-park unknown-1900 park fare at 6 pm Nov. 1st-MK-MNSSHP-dinner at Tony’s at 5:30 pm Nov. 2nd-EPCOT-dinner at Japan at 8 PM Nov. 3rd- park unknown -Cape May Clam Bake at 7 pm Nov. 4th- park unknown -OHanas at 7 pm Nov. 5th-Epcot-Le Cellier at 11 am Nov. 6th-going home-Chef Mickey’s at 7:45 am
So at 4:30 am on August 3rd that is what the plans looked like. But like anything with us they must change and that they did.
