As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Surprise!! Mom & Daughter trip to see the mouse! Pre-trip
The day finally arrived! We didn’t fly out until 9:50pm so I had plenty of time that day to finish packing, clean the house up a bit, and play with my little sweetie who was staying home with Dad. We arrived at the airport 2 hours early (I would be a wreck if running late) and checked our luggage in very quickly. Now we just had to sit around and wait!
I had an aisle seat and Hailey was stuck in the middle seat, which she was NOT happy about . On our last trip the person sitting next to us (on the aisle) was very grumpy whenever one of us had to get up so I wasn’t going to risk that again. Let the other person bug us this time. We were much nicer about it!
Our first leg of our journey landed us in Minneapolis. We had about an hour between flights and our gates were FAR away from each other. Thank goodness for those moving walkways! Hailey loves to pretend that she is a super fast walker on those! (it’s the little things that make it fun ) Watch out people….this child will mow you down if you don’t keep to the right!
Our flight into Orlando was fine. We arrive ot 11:15am and we were both exhausted but happy. For some reason neither one of us slept more than 1 hour the whole trip! Even Hailey agreed that going to a park after we got there would be too much for us.
After picking up our luggage, we went to National and jumped in line. The ONE lady working was grumpy as heck! There was only one guy in line in front of me, and when he stepped up in front of her she snipped at him “You need to step back in line, I’ll let you know when I’m ready for you.” He looked a little ticked and I couldn’t blame him. He had to drag his bags back over in front of me, wait a few minutes, and drag them back when she was done typing away on her keyboard! Why he couldn’t stand there and wait I don’t know. She must have run out of sympathy for travelers long ago….she was NOT nice. Luckily for her she didn’t give me a hard time, as I was VERY tired and would not have been receptive to attitude! I got a full-size car and ended up picking a dark red Grand Prix. I drive an Expedition at home, so it was fun to drive a sporty car with get-up-and-go!
The drive to our rental home went quickly and we were soon pulling up in the drive. The management company had given me the key-code so that I could check in early (it was about 12:30pm). I retrieved the key from the box and opened the door….there were clothes, and shoes and stuff all over the place! Eeeeek! I sort of called…Hello? Anyone here? No answer…..thank goodness. I quickly locked the door and called the mgmt co. Ooops! They had changed houses on me without letting me know. Luckily the right home was one street over. We drove over and let ourselves in with no problems. Whew.
What a beautiful home! It had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The pool was pretty, and the backyard was very nicely landscaped. We were happy to take showers and jump in the pool. What a great escape from home! All the peace and quiet was wonderful.
It’s amazing how taking a swim can revive you! We cleaned up and went out for an early dinner (it was about 4:30pm). We try to hit the places that we can’t go to up in Alaska so we had dinner at UNOs and then grabbed a box of Krispy Creme donuts! Yum!
After stopping to pick up a few groceries we headed home. Hailey fell asleep on the couch by 7pm! That girl was out cold! Since there was no waking her I just piled a couple of blankets on her and crawled into bed about 7:30pm. I set my alarm for 7am and basically passed out!
Disney-MGM tomorrow!! Can't wait!

I'm enjoying your TR. I admire you for keeping the trip a secret. I would have blurted it out 5 minutes after deciding to go. Looking forward to the rest of your trip!

Surprise!! Mom & Daughter trip to see the mouse! Day 2
Day 2- Disney-MGM Studios!
We had never been to this park but we were excited to try RNRC and TOT!! We had to stop and get a few pictures under Mickey’s hat, of course! I got my first PhotoPass card too! What a great idea, I would never stand in line for pictures before. Who wants to do that at the end of the day? We’re usually worn out and broke by that time!
On to RNRC! TOT had only a 12 minute stand-by line, but Hailey hadn’t built up her courage yet….a roller coaster in the dark didn’t seem quite as scary to her for some reason! So off we went ! The wait was only about 10 minutes…..I just love walking past all those empty lines! After the little pre-show (“who are those guys? “ asked my oblivious child ) we were blasted off! Awesome ride! I liked that it wasn’t near as neck-straining as Space Mountain. I love that ride too, but my neck always aches a little after riding it. I wanted to jump back in line directly after getting out, but Hailey had finally worked up her courage for TOT so we jumped in that line. The standby-line said 12 minutes and it was pretty close. I really like the ambiance to that ride. It’s fun to look around and think of all the CMs who have to strategically place all the dust and spider webs! What a job! Hailey didn’t get scared until we rolled out into the hallway with all the floating eyes, lightning, etc! I LOVE the wait in the dark…knowing you are about to fall…what a great rush! When you fly up and can see outside for just a tiny moment….love that! I could do that ride over and over…
Next we went on the Great Movie Ride…corny but entertaining! The gangster jumping on the ride was funny. I meant to come back and try the other side but we never got back to it. Next came the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I expected a little kid show but it was great! The whole show was very cool! Very inventive…worth seeing!
One Man’s Dream was inspiring! The Magic of Disney Animation was interesting. We headed across the park to see Muppet Vision 3D. I really enjoyed that show too! Had to buy a stuffed Beaker of course (I’m a lab tech). He’s my inspiration! We were getting hungry so we had our first Mickey bar of the trip !
We wandered around, catching the Indiana Jones (2 thumbs up), the Back lot tour (ok) , but the Lights, Motors, Actions show wasn’t having a preview day so we were a little bummed! Star Tours was ok, not a waste of time but I wouldn’t jump in a long line to catch it!
Our PS for Hollywood and Vine was approaching so we worked our way that way and only waited 3-5 minutes to be seated. As soon as I got on my phone with my DH back home (had to rub it in that the weather was beautiful!) we were called to come in. The buffet was very good (yummy green beans and peel-and-eat shrimp!). Hailey stuffed herself with shrimp and BBQ meatballs (what a combo!) We got our certificate for Fantasmic and went outside to catch the parade. Beautiful cars!
We had a couple hours before Fantasmic so we hit TOT twice then caught the Beauty and the Beast show. We enjoyed it! The birds kept flying through and as usual I wondered how they do such a show in the dead of summer! That night was quite comfortable but it would be horrible being covered from head to toe with a heavy costume when the humidity and temp are high!!
One thing I must say about this park….I was lost about half the time! I usually have a great sense of direction but for some reason this place had me totally confused. Even looking at the map, I was clueless. I hope it’s not just me!
Fantasmic was great! We froze our butts off. The wind had started blowing and we were in T-shirts. I ended up draping a shirt that I had purchased over the front of us when the mist was blowing. Hailey got a light-up light-saber kind of thing that she was waving everywhere (as was every other child in the place). It was a fun way to end the evening!
Tomorrow we go to MK! CRT and CP for the first time!
