As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Scarlett-I'm sorry to hear about your camera. I've had several water bottle mishaps in my backpack this year, so I invested in a new spillproof bottle. CamelBak BPA-free water bottles I love it! It is just the right size, and no more danger of spilling in my backpack! BTW-I hope you find a great camera to replace your old one.
Okay - so I'm in. I completely failed in August - it got so bad, I stopped posting!
There are no big items coming up this month, so I'm good hopefully.
I am so thankful that August is over. We just got back from our 2-week camping adventure and spent way too much money. Of course part of it was due to my not setting limits for DH!
Anyway, it's a new month and I'm back at work today. I need to hit the store at lunch and purchase some more coffee filters and granola, but I brought my lunch today and have tomorrow's already packaged up in the fridge at home. Our daycare costs finally drop this month, but we're waiting to see exactly how much when we get our statement from them this week. Oh and school starts tomorrow, so I'll have to start planning lunches for my oldest since she'll no longer be at daycare for lunch time! One more thing to do, one more expense to consider.

Well it didn't start well as I spent just under $50 at Walmart last night with the rest of the school supplies and food for lunches. I didn't buy anything that was outrageous or unnecessary and I bought a binder we didn't actually need so I'm taking it back even if it was only about $3. No use keeping something I don't need. I just locked my cc's in my metal box. Any chance they can stay there the entire month?????
$9 at lunch - made plans with a coworker to eat out since we had to leave the office anyway. I would feel bad about starting out the month like that, but I did so great in August with just a couple of eating-out lunches, that I know this will just be one of a few! (well, except when I'm travelling and I'll get reimbursed for that). I do have to say that while I love Cafe Carolina's food, it sure is expensive!
$70 today on 2 sets of orthotics (one was on sale b/c it was "old" packaging). They come with a money back guarantee in case they don't work and I have to get the $300 kind from my doc.

Dawn - if I remember correctly, you suffer from Plantar faciaitis? I do, and I just spent the best $200 on a pair shoes! Z-Coils! I love mine. So much that I don't care that they look weird (younger kids think they're pretty cool - it's only people my age and older who say "those Look stupid!" They're a huge outlay at the onset, but I've heard nothing but good things about them - and there are over 200 adjustments they can make to the shoes! For the first time I can remember, my shoes really FIT my oddball feet!
Okay - today - spent $62 at Barnes and Noble - but most of that ($45) was for a drug reference book I needed for school, and the other was for a book each for the girls.
groceries (3 different stores) added up to $46, but at one store I got 10 cents off for taking my own bags!!
My splurge was very explainable. The other day I spent $4.00 on powdered milk, $2.50 on Chocolate Chips, $6.00 on Bran Cereal all to make "breakfast cookies" that my nutritionist said I should switch to instead of yogurt. Today I was at the grocery store and what do I see...packaged Breakfast cookies for $3.00! I bought a box just to try them, and it was definatly worth the $3.00. I'll use up the ingredients I bought but next time I'm buying them all made instead they are sooo much better.
Also needed a new curling iron...truly it was an emergency! My curling gave up due to exhaustion this morning, and I just will not go without it. I take it everywhere on vacation, camping, I don't go outside unless my hair is done! So there was another $11.00.
So I went four days without spending a dime...then a hiccup. I hope that's all it was..a little spending hiccup.
Ok, so today probably wasn't the best I can do - I will do better tomorrow!!!
$5 on lunch - coworker talked me into take-out when I'd brought my lunch
$2 on soda for me and snacks for DD after gymnastics
$14 on dinner for 3 of us - Tues and Thur are hard b/c DD and I pull a 10 hour day with school and gym practice, I'm beat when I get home - but tomorrow I WILL eat the lunch I took today, and cook dinner at home!!

Teresa, yep, that's it! I've heard about Z-Coils, but haven't gone that direction yet. I was concerned about dirt and such collecting in them, does that seem to be a problem? At the moment, there are no shoes allowed in the house except for "house shoes" (Mr. Monk and Miss Monk Jr.) That's why I sprung for 2 sets of orthotics...

$40 at CVS, all budgeted and I saved a ton! $10 on cat food. $12 on pizza for dinner, DH had a doctor's appointment and I had to take the dog to the vet, so it was fter 8 when I got home, no time to cook.
Ughh... I forgot all about the little back to school expenses that will be coming up in the next few weeks. Today was $15 for Nick's Scholastic book order and next week will be the book fee at his kindergarten, school pictures and soccer pictures... not to mention school fundraisers... better try to figure out where all that will be coming from....

Good luck with all of that. I used to hate the beginning of school just for that reason. When DD was in school I thought that I might just as well turn over my checkbook so that they can siphon all the money out. You get nickeled and dimed for one thing after another those first few weeks of school.
This month is tough for me. Started planing for disney in April. I paid the trip off in August. But here my kids go back to school in August so between clothes, backpacks & $500 bus tickets I spent over $1,000. We got a swimming pool in June so that threw me off budget. We can't afford the landscaping & fence until next year atleast. Then my appliances all start dying at once. New dishwasher $400., new refrig $900. Now the microwave is on the blink and the bathroom faucet won't stop running $300. to fix that. But still with all these expenses, I still haven't touched my savings so I guess I'm doing OK. BUT then I just remembered...Oct is renewal month for everything...life ins, home ins. car ins....which means HUGE bills. Oh, and then my son says, "Where are we having my b-day party?" So, we planned a party for 15-18 kids 5 days before we leave for Disney because we'll be in Disney on his actual b-day. Yup, that's another few hundred. I think I'd better get off this forum & get a 2nd job.
