Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

CBR in JUly for 8 days.

Location, Location, Location. Hope you get it when you go. We did and loved every minute. Jamiaca near pool, bus stop, 1st floor corner room and short walk from Old Port Royale.

We were there for 8 nights and it was clean. Only negative is the housekeeper never vacuumed the carpet. The room was cleaned before noon. My DS's stuffed animal was tucked into his blanket everyday. awe...

NEVER had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus. AWESOME.

recommend this resort 100%

Extremely disappointed

My husband and I spent 9 nights at the Caribbean Beach Resort for our anniversary in Sept 2007. We decided to try a new resort since we usually stay at Coronado Springs. We stayed in the Barbados section which was beautiful and a very short walk to the bus stop.

Our disappointment with the resort had to do with the housekeeping and bus transportation. We waited 30+ minutes every time for a bus. Most of the time it was 45 minutes and on 3 occasions we waited more than 1 hour. We did pick up the phone and call about the lack of buses and they would always say that one should be arriving in 5 minutes, which was never the case.

I've never had such terrible housekeeping as we did on this trip. Our sheets were never changed, the trash was never taken out and on two occasions (that we know of) towels that were placed on the floor were rehung.

Due to these factors we didn't find this resort to be very magical.

New Pool adds a LOT to the resort!

We just returned from a week at CBR. We stayed in Trinidad North and were, again, very happy with our stay. The room was terrific, clean, and larger than the other Mods and Vals. Having a bus stop in front of your building is a BIG plus at CBR as is being close to the food court. Preferred rooms are, in our opinion, well worth the extra $10/day - particularly at CBR because it is so large.

The new Pirate Pool is TERRIFIC. The children's section with a Pirate Ship and zero entry pool area with spongy flooring material was a BIG hit with our 5 & 7 year olds. The periodic spilling of the huge barrel of water on the top of the mast is fun as are the slides, water fountains, and other new features. The main pool now has two slides, one medium and one larger height, as well as more space. Overall, super remodel that adds to the theming at CBR.

My family and I stayed here in July for a week. We booked a preferred room- and was in martinique building 26. Right next to Old Port Royale. That was great for us. We would get up,get ready, and head to Old Port Royale for breakfast. O.P.R. has its own bus stop, so we just used that one, since the Martinique bus stop was a good distance. Coming back from the parks, we would grab our refillable mugs and head to OPR since it was so close. I 100% recommend the preferred rooms. It's not that much more expensive, and the benefits are there. We never had a problem with housekeeping, or anything else with our actual room. The rooms are pretty small- and theres no sleeper sofa. The cast members of the resort were great too. The one con we had was that when we stayed, the main themed pool near Old port Royale was closed. We were near it, but couldn't swim in it. The small pool for just Martinique was closer to buildings 21 and 22, a good distance for us. Overall, if you book a preferred room, you'll love CBR!

Our visit here was wonderful!!! Mouse Keeping was great. It was a beautiful but short walk to the pool and main eating area. Bus waits were short!

Caribbean Beach Resort

I just returned from a week long visit and stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort. The resort is huge, but if you're willing to pay for a preferred room and are lucky enough to stay in Building 26 in Martinique, then you've got it made! The room was newly refurbished with a lovely "Finding Nemo" theme. The room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels arranged attractively in the bathroom area. I was on the top floor facing a courtyard and it was very quiet except for the nightly fireworks noise from Epcot. Yes, I could hear the fireworks everynight and one night a ventured out to the beach and I could see some of the higher bursts. There is lots of storage in the room and a fridge for your leftovers. The food court and the bus stop were all short walks from my room. The buses were good except for one day when I was trying to get to MK. The only drawback is that you need to check in and out of the Customs House which is too far away to walk for much of the resort. And since you can't take your luggage on the internal shuttle, it requires that you make an appointment with bell services to collect your luggage or deliver your luggage (tip expected) and you have to be in your room for them to pick up your luggage. Although I enjoyed the resort, I would only stay there again if I could have the same location, anywhere else would be inconvenient for me. Otherwise, I would recommend the resort.

We love CBR!

We stayed at CBR Nov 29 through Dec 5. No major complaints. Only once did we have to wait over 20 minutes for a bus to MK, then ended up taking an Epcot one and using the monorail to get to MK. Food court is ok but not a huge selection if you plan on eating there often. The new pool and updated rooms were great. Stayed in Barbados and loved the location. About a 2-3 minute walk to the food court and right across the street from the check in desk which made taking luggage back very easy without any need for bell services. Staff was wonderful. Would definitely recommend staying here.

not what I was expecting

This resort is nice, but it lacks alot of magic and accessibility. I was happy with my room location(Martinique 26) very close to food and bus stop. But the bus makes 5 additional stops, which is hard because most of the time my husband stood . About half the time my kids and I stood with him. The food was your average counter service, my sister and her family ate @ Shutters and really liked it. The pool is outstanding it is the best part of the resort, we went 2 times and the kids loveed it. I would say it is a smaller version of the Beach Club, without the lazy river. Castaway Cay was very pretty and relaxing to look at the lake or lay in a hammock.

The rooms are another story! We had a new nemo room, was not inpressed by the decorations just a border and comforter with nemo. The room is bigger then POFQ. I do like the curtain they put up between the vanity and bed area.

The bathroom is very small, it was very hard to shut the door when you were in there. There wasn't enough space between the tub and door, you had to sit on the toilet to shut the door. I was shocked about the size.

The beds were small , doubles. That was an issue, my husband and I could not fit in one bed and we are avcerage sized people.
They not once vacumned the room . I had to ask for more shampoo plus towels, and blankets. They never brought me blankets. I did tip every day.

The room was always damp we couldn't figure it out , so we kept the air conditioner on to pull the moisture out. Are clothes and bedding felt damp, it was crazy.

I've stayed @ Deluxe and moderates and I have to say this hotel is not one of my favorites. It was an ok resort, but nothing great. There are a few thins I miss from Deluxe resorts
1. bigger beds
2. 1 bus stop
3. Bar
4. balcony
5.bigger bathroom
6. better housekeeping
The resort is beautiful, just not what I'm looking for.
I wouldn't pick coming here again, and that's ashame because it could be a really great resort.

The layout at the Carribean Beach is beautiful and wide spread. If you get tired walking at the parks it is a bummer to have to walk to get refreshments. Nonetheless, the walk is beautiful, day or night. We went in April of 2008. The only draw back was there were many high school kids on the grounds due to an event at Wide World of Sports. Our peaceful nightitme stroll, wasn't so peaceful. We were close to the bus stop(s), and never had a long wait. It's true that the park buses go around the entire complex, but it depends on where you get on. We took a ride around the resort one morning and didn't find it to be very time consuming. Also, there are buses that just ride around the resort giving you a chance to rest the little ones toes when desired. The room was OK and the pool was OK too. Sitting on the beach and enjoying a refreshing drink was priceless. We requested a room away from the smoking area and were placed directly next to a smoking area. Check-in took almost 45 minutes at 9:00 at night. No lines, just unexperienced staff. All in all the good out-weighed the bad and there is no such thing as an un-magical day when you're at Disney.

Talking CBR Spring Break Anniversary Trip

We stayed at CBR April 4 and checked out on April 8th. We arrived around 6pm and check in was very quick. Within 15 minutes we were checked in and handed our anniversary buttons.

We booked a preferred room but decided to leave the location up to the room gods so we didn’t request a particular section. We ended up in Trinidad North Bldg 33 room 55. It was convenient to the parking lot and the bus stop. It was a bit of a hike to Old Port Royale but it didn’t bother us. I don’t think I would have been happy if we had a standard room since the resort is so large.

The room itself was nice. It was a good size for the 4 of us. DH took over the table for his computer but I was able to squeak out a section for planning and eating. The area with the toilet and tub were tiny – I practically had to stand in the tub to shut the door. The double sink area had plenty of storage space and the curtain was great for getting ready in the morning. The room was cleaned well. The double beds were too small for us.

It was easy to get lost getting around the building and trying to get to Old Port Royale. It took me 2 days to figure it out but that's no surprise since I'm directionally challenged, several times I ended up further away from Old Port Royale when I tried to walk there. Even DH had trouble and he is normally fine with directions. We did manage to make enough trips to Old Port Royale to make it worth getting the mugs. I was able to walk around Caribbean Cay one afternoon while everyone was napping. That was a pretty area and quiet which was a nice change from the overcrowded parks.

We only got to enjoy the pool on our first night because the weather got too cold for swimming. The slide closed at 8pm so we got there too late to enjoy it. I thought that was way too early to close the slide. The bartender at the pool bar was friendly. We watched Illuminations from the pool area and could hear it from our room which was kinda fun.

Because of the weather, we spent more time at the arcade than usual. One night the card reloading machines weren’t working and all the kids could play for free until it was working again. DS13 said a lot of the games were cool and I even beat him at ice hockey – the first time ever.

The gift shop had plenty of items. It was well stocked. I did notice that they didn’t have many choices of cold medicine though. I caught a bad cold and the only medicines they had was what I can’t take so I had to go off site to get some. It was funny that the one time I didn’t bring it was the one time I needed it.

We had 2 fun surprises. The first was a signed picture of Minnie and Mickey wishing DH and I a Happy Anniversary. Twenty Six years and still going strong. The 2nd was DD9’s stuffed toys watching TV. They were sitting on a pile of 3 pillows, Pluto had the remote and they were watching cartoons. It was cute. The kids got a kick out of it and we’ve never encountered that before.

The buses weren’t a problem. Going to MK our first morning, we were the only ones on the bus. That was a first. We never had to stand on any bus and the resort was close enough to the parks that we didn’t feel like we were on them forever.

The food court area was ok. I actually liked it but DH was so-so about it. We ate at the broiler section one night which was delicious. Another night we did pizza and hamburgers. The pizza was the normal Disney pizza as were the hamburgers. The Grab N Go area was well stocked and we enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies and brownies – We had those each day. The mickey waffles and bacon were yummy and DD9 liked the scrambled eggs and says the biscuits were delicious. I’m surprised I didn’t gain a lot of weight during this trip with all the junk food I ate.

Overall, we enjoyed the resort and if we couldn’t get a room at CSR, we’d be fine at CBR.

Wonderful for both families and romantic couples.

Kids will enjoy the pirate rooms and the pirate's kid water play area.

Couples will enjoy the quiet pools and the cozy hammocks located in quiet out-of-the-way places.
