As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have stayed at BC..love the pool>>>and we are "owners" at BWV and love love love it there!!! depending on the room location we saw illuminations from our balcony more than once or on the boardwalk
ESPN is our fav and when the kids were small we loved the BW atmosphere just like the BW at Long Beach LI i remember as a kid Keister coaster is FUN!
The walk from HS is not too bad and can be shorter than waiting for the boat after fantasmic
just a thought you may want to look into renting from a dvc member you could get a 2 bedroom villa or even a studio for approx $900 for a week I am not selling anything in fact I have no points to rent but thats just an idea
We loved BC. A short walk to back entrance of Epcot (however if you~re not going to world showcase, it will take some time to get to future world). Also close to DHS. Loved boat ride!
The SAB is a must! You need time to full enjoy the pool complex!
To AKL it was a 30 minutes bus ride, same time to MK. A negative point is that the bus is shared with Dolphin ans Swann resort ...meaning some extra time....
I have stayed at BC, YC, BWI and BWV and love 'em all.
I have to say in all candor--and I am not doing this to run down anyone else's opinion--that I really don't see much of a distinction between Yacht Club and Beach Club except the theming that the Imagineers were going for. Of course, people react in different ways to the theming. And BC is slightly closer to Epcot.
Boardwalk has the advantage of being closer to the"action"--the boardwalk entertainment--that we enjoyed a number of evenings, including magic tricks and jugglers, etc. I once thought I would not enjoy staying at BW as much as the others, but once I stayed there I realized I was fine with it.
So, my conclusion is that all of them are wonderful, and if you hit on a nice discount that's available at one and not another, then I would go for the savings and not worry one little bit.

We stayed at Yacht Club in April of this year and absolutely loved it. Wish we could afford to stay there every time. We did not find it to be standoffish at all. Everyone was very friendly.
Dinner at the Yacht Club also was delish. We are not much into pools so the great pool area was not necessarily a pull for us. But we loved the option of a very short walk to Epcot and did that every day regardless if we went to another park that day.

Didn't even think of renting points. How does that work? Do you still get to use the ME?

We've stayed at both BC and BWI. Just stayed at BWI back in November and really loved it. Both are so convenient for visits to Epcot and DHS which we love. The entertainment around the Boardwalk at night is fantastic and there's lots of opportunity for sitting, eating, drinking, and people watching around the lake. I think I preferred BW to BC. I have been doing weekly reports on the BW, every Friday on my photoblog if you'd like to see photos of the rooms, lobby, and more. The link is in my sig. I'll have a post about the entertainment around the Boardwalk this Friday and next.

I have stayed at both the BW and just recently at the BC and I love the area. It is really easy to fall in love with the area. The walk to Epcot is quick and we have done the walk to HS and while longer it really is a nice relaxing walk. The atmosphere is great as well, walking out of any of the resorts, walking around the resorts and the Boardwalk just gives you so much to do in the way of entertainment, shopping and dining. While I really enjoyed the BC this past trip I think I would have to say that the BW would win out for me just a drop...my kids really loved just walking out onto the Boardwalk, but I would be happy in any of them.
It's such a short walk to Epcot from the BC. Five minutes at the most. This is a big advantage. It's around 15-20 minutes to Studios by walking from the BC but not even 15 minutes from BWI. I actually can beat the boat from Studios when I walk, due to all the stops along the route at Swan and Dolphin, BC/YC and BWI. Any of these resorts would be fine. Just look for the deal that is best.

Thanks for asking this question. I'm thinking about a BC/YC stay too in Aug. Split with POR.
We just got back from WDW a couple of weeks ago. While there we walked around Cresent Lake and walked around each resort BC, YC & BW. We walked from DHS, around the lake. I'm leaning toward BC/YC. Liked the solarium, grab & go and pool at BC/YC. Also closeness to Epcot entrance. So leaning toward that. Just don't like that not all rooms have balconies at BC.
Like to hear peoples experience staying at these resorts.
Update- I have booked BC. Mainly because it has a cs of sorts- The Marketplace. We like to get the mugs, and refill them often, esp in summer. And grab snacks, or something for breakfast. At YC I think your options are refilling mugs by pool, or walking over to BC Marketplace.
Very excited about BC, love hearing about everyones stay there.
Can't go wrong with the BC, with it's proximity to Epcot. Five minutes to the WS!
