The happiest place on Earth for 28. (TR) - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Too bad about your back woes and missing WOC! At least you had a mostly enjoyable dinner and a good time in DCA.

I think Saturday was the best Disney day we've ever had.

Update,
The good news is we were pre approved for a house loan, made an offer and it was accepted! This will be my first ever house. Inspection is happening this week. We are in the midst of doing lots of paperwork! I only have just over 2 weeks for my current class to be done but that also means I am working on last big assignments plus work. Thursday is DD's last choir concert of high school, seniors are honored plus we are going to see a comedian tomorrow and I've been sick with a terrible head cold for a week. All of this to say, it's why I haven't gotten a new post done. I'm hoping later tonight or possibly in the morning!
I've had a bit of catching up to do, but so sorry that your back is still aching, especially that you missed WOC, which was my favorite show at DLR. We loved our dinner at Wine Country Trattoria.
Thanks all. We are busy but excited! I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.

When I got up, I was stiff and sore but a hot shower and bengay helped some. We got ready, left early and began our slow walk to the park. DD had been encouraging me to rent a scooter and so I finally agreed.
We stopped on the way to get this photo because with all the students we hadn't had time.
We made it through security then over to the scooter, wheelchair rental and it was easy to rent one. I got brief instructions then we were off to DL. It was still during Magic hours so we were held on main street and the hub. There were a bunch of people milling around. Finally they opened Fantasyland where we were headed. DD had not got to ride Dumbo yet so that was the first stop. DD in line.
Waiting for the ride to start. I don't know what it is but DD has to make sure she gets one ride on Dumbo.
Finally flying.
I like Alice in Wonderland ride and always try to do it once. The lines can get long and being that it's a slow loader I wanted to check it out next. We went over there and I asked the CM at the exit where I should park the scooter and how long did he think the wait would be because I was having trouble standing for longer periods. When I first came up he didn't seem friendly, then after I asked my questions he relaxed a bit and asked if I knew about fastpasses for Fantasyland rides for those with disabilities, I replied no. He explained that if I went to the CM at exits of rides they would give me a return time and I could enter through the exit and bring a certain number of people with me. Well it was only DD so that was good. We felt a few sprinkles, and the CM said to park the scooter and he's get me on the ride before they shut it down due to rain. This CM turned out to be very helpful. I parked and he opened the exit, directed us to stand in a certain spot and wait for the operators signal. We waited just over a minute and were beckoned to our car.
Here's DD .
Flowers in the ride.
After Alice, we went over to PP to get a FP for it as the lines had been outrageous the entire time we had been here. We had 45 minutes I believe, so DD wanted to ride Teacups, another one of her favorites.
DD's always must do ride is IASW. As a collector of dolls she loves this ride. We went down a ramp specifically for wheelchairs and scooters. When we got there, CM's were loading a person in a wheelchair onto a specially made boat that accommodated wheelchairs. I wish I knew about this when my aunt was alive so she could have gone on IASW. We were up next and got to sing along once again. I'm sorry I did not get many pictures today. I didn't take as many and some I have not found. Then it was over to PP. The lights in London had been redone and were beautifully bright. We enjoyed our trip to Neverland. Then it was off to another tradition...
the carousel...
There were 2 characters DD really wanted to meet that she had never been able to which were Peter Pan and Genie from Aladdin. I was hoping to find them today. So I'm waiting for DD to get done with ride when who should I see wandering though Fantasyland but Peter Pan! I was watching to see where he would go because if he was going to a spot for greets I wanted to get DD there quick! The carousel was stopping and so was Peter. I got DD's attention and pointed, when she looked and saw him, off she went and was the first in line.
Peter was great, wonderful interaction.
And she got a hug.
Aladdin's meet and greet times were posted so I knew we could slip in over there before our breakfast at the Plaza if we got to the line before it was too long so that's where I led DD.
A photo on the way.
We ended up being the first in line at Aladdin and it was so cute. I know DD's (17) but she was like a little kid when we were let in the greet area. DD ran up to Genie and hugged him which surprised Jasmine and Aladdin.
Aladdin recovered from his surprise first but you can see the look on Jasmines face. I explained that DD had always loved Genie. Can you tell DD is on cloud nine?
I was so tickled to see this expression of happiness. Peter and Genie within a half and hour and DD's over the moon.
